Kind of like how Red obtained knowledge about the Whispers, which he probably did not have prior the interaction. And as you said, anyone who touches Aerith is able to see them. I am more confused as to how Rufus, someone who has not come in contact with Aerith was able to see them, but Tseng, who had been in contact with Aerith was unable to do so. Even Wedge, who Aerith touched, back during the attack on sector 7, was able to see the Whispers in the Shinra building.

Recently, while watching a video on youtube unrelated to Final Fantasy or gaming, I sort of realized or started to have a more informed deduction on the direction on FF7Rebirth. The video I'm refering to, at some point uses the movie "It's a Wonderful Life" as an example. For those who might not be familiar with the movie, it's basically the story about a character who believes that existing is meaningless and probably things would be different if protagonist wasn't born, the protagonist is shown a glimpse of the world if its existence haven't happened or have happened in a different way because of some choices made. There are other more recent and almost equally famous as that movie, such as "The Family Man" and "Mr. Destiny". The thing about those movies and stories, is that they are actually classified as "Rebirth" stories, not because the main character dies in the movie, but because, after the "glimpse" or "experiencie" of the other world, they actually get a new "lease" in life, like a rebirth of the soul or something like that. While I can't say for sure that the FF7 Remake team is explicitly going the route of "It's A Wonderful Life" as in that movie or others that I have pointed, at least I can be more informed about the sort of direction they might be aiming for, tought not in the exact same way as those movies. Also, keep in mind that, even when they say that Remake and Rebirth and the 3rd unnamed game all link up to Advent Children, they don't specify which part of Advent Children, I know, it kind of sounds stupid, but they just said Advent Children, it can be the very beggining of the movie, the middle, the end, a particular scene or just link up thematically.

This Sephiroth, is Sephiroth POST advent children, being into the lifestream as a god and being able to go back and forth in time. He is the one trying to mess with the events of the OG timeline to test how he can change fate itself, his meddling with the timeline to find a way to change not just his fate but the fate of the planet dying, is what messes with Cloud and aerith's memories. Him trying to kill barret and appearing so soon after you blow up the first reactor was one of the many ways he's doing little attempts at modifying events. Sephiroth is a new little "god" in the lifestream, spreading it's wings, flexing his muscles and testing his limitations, he shares this space with Aerith inside the lifestream and every other people that returned into it. Geostimga shown that the lifestream and beings in it can be corrupted and he can be spread into the lifestream to corrupt a good portion of it. The events at the end of Remake, is still Sephiroth in "training" inside the lifestream, and his meddling with fate and the timeline sent Zack from the past, to the future as an accident / unintended consequence. like many other things he's creating as time paradoxes while testing his newfound powers.
About 4 hours into Remake, I realized that it was a sequel, NOT a remake. And its not a sequel to the original game. Its a sequel to Advent Children. The Sephiroth appearing to Cloud throughout remake is the Sephiroth that fought Cloud at the end of Advent Children. I figured that out only part way through Remake. And lo and behold what are they doing in Japan? They are re-releasing Advent Children in theaters in Japan just before Rebirth comes out. So yeah. Nailed it.

Well my friend, fun video as always, happy holidays to you as well. Your editing is quite good, my uh personal taste would lean towards less farts and memes but it's your show man. As for theories, I'm leaning towards Sephiroth being from post Advent Children. He wants Cloud to live, even when he's "trying to kill him" it's odd. I personally don't think we actually fight Sephiroth at the end of the game until we're at the Edge of Creation. The Sephiroth we fight is kind of a Whisper vision... very specifically they show something like what he claims in the original game to have wanted: at the Forgotten Temple he speaks of using Meteor to make a wound in the planet, where he'll then absorb the Lifestream the planet throws at the wound and he'll become a god. In the cutscene, he absorbs Meteor, but just before it reaches him it turns into the Stigma Lifestream that we saw only in Advent Children. I wouldn't be surprised if the entire game is an Advent Children "do-over," but dunno yet. And Aerith, saying two different places that the yellow flowers have something important to tell us (once at her house, the again IN QUOTES at her room at Shinra "Follow them. The yellow flowers..." Who is she quoting?), as well as saying every time the Whispers touch her, she feels she loses something important, part of herself/maybe knowledge of the future...? For all her nighttime flower garden talk of "Cloud, don't fall in love with me, your head's messed up bruh" she's awfully clingy in Rebirth footage. In context of the original game, sure, but after dropping that on Cloud and then you go and seriously mess with him like that? That's not EITHER Aerith, she's maybe lost most of her future-vis by then? LOL mostly just questions heh, but it's fun. As long as the likely "Reunion" Pt.3 doesn't have Sora show up revealing that Aerith is Mickey and Sephiroth's daughter five hundred years from the future I'll be ok (*angrily shakes her fist at Nomura* Thank all that's holy we have the other gang keeping him somewhat sane... I don't want this trilogy getting Kingdom Hearts'd). ...but imagine how cruel it'd be to have the game fade to roll credits at that Aerith praying scene and it just stops, doesn't show us what happens until next game? I really enjoyed your intro. And you have a nice personalization with your editing that is uniquely you, which is needed for any content creator. Looking forward to seeing more of your videos. As far as the Purgatory theory. Eh, doesnt quite seem right to me. I think what may be more likely is there was a convergence and "rift" after the Harbinger was defeated in remake. Those left in Midgar that are aware of the characters believe that they died (with only Aerith surviving in comatose state, and comatose Cloud being brought by Zack). The disaster event that showed all the party members pass away was the result of that Harbinger battle/rift. The writing will hopefully/ultimately tie it all in and the twist at the end of rebirth will be that there werent separate timelines at all, but that lifestream impacting event with the Harbinger that gave FF7 a rebirth to a more hopeful outcome to the OG ending.

Outside of the theories, which I've read enough lol, what I find funny about all this is how people finished the first part with a feeling of "betrayal", but then 80% of those people returned to the "hype" . There are people who really felt betrayed to the point of abandoning it for good, but even these people, I bet that at some point or with "promotions" they will enjoy this game too, so today I realize that the first game it works like a medicine that it burns and hurts, but it disinfects and heals the wounds in some capacity. It's funny how people complain, but they can't resist, I feel like the best part of FFVII is not the "human" factors in the characters' stories, but rather the "mystery", some of the greatest works in humanity are full of secrets and Fascinating things, that will always move people in that direction, just like "conspiracy theories" were very successful with people for a long time. Mystery attracts people, and when everything is revealed, they leave again.

But it’s true those same people are coming back to it and still may dislike it but they still are going to either watch gameplay of it on RUclips or watch someone play it. The Forgotten Capital scene - Nomura says even those who've played that scene many times will be shocked - that doesn't sound like it'll be a 1:1 redo of the scene from the OG, otherwise literally no one is going to be shocked. I think we'll get the same outcome, ie she dies, but it will go down differently. Possibly she sacrifices herself to get into the lifestream. Not in this vid, but a lot of people are taking the "it'll link in to Advent Children" as meaning that the trilogy will lead into AC. I don't think so. I agree with the view that the trilogy is a sequel, not only to the OG, but also AC. OG > AC > Trilogy. Re the Zack timeline/reality/world/whatever the hell it is, I'm still nowhere near nailing down a solid guess as to what's going on there! There's far too many possibilities. I do like some aspects of the "purgatory" theory but there's other bits that are just too problematic.

I would like to hear detractors answer how they would keep an audience for a three part remake without changing the story up. If it was a 1:1 remake people wouldn’t be thinking about what’s next cause they would already know what would happen.
Good point, that’s very true. One will think that by the end of this game we would know what will happen. But I feel like they are going to throw a curve ball at us. Personally I believe if Aerith survives some crazy shit will happen that alters something else which would leave us in suspense. If they let Aerith die again I feel they would have to make a drastic change elsewhere to keep us guessing like they did in end of remake. I honestly think we might have to fight Cloud at some point if he loses himself like in the OG. That would be AWESOME. End the game like that and leave it for the next part where we take control of Tifa
Marlene is big key hinter of where are they on both sides, if you go back to AC near the end you see her sense aerith is coming through water, in remake ending she sensed her "daddy" barret through a drip on the plant in her room, for me it says one thing, sephiroth swapped destinies and the actual party in rebirth are in the lifestream "subconsciously" & zack is actually in the altered land of the living. Them in the lifestream is backed up by ever crisis opening narrative of sephiroth, memories of all times & places. Not a divergent timeline or parallel world, its what destiny crossroads means, the exchange at that point where cloud jumped at sephiroth at the end of remake.

Heck even the first announcement teaser the narrator warns about what kind of direction the remake trilogy might take and we should embrace it.

Why not be hyped that Zack was spared and the True first class soldier (who gave cloud the false confidence he used to save the world alongside his friends) gets to join the fight? Aerith died in 1997, and you mean to tell me that 27 years later if she survives people are going to backlash? Nonsense. Let the developers tell the story in my opinion. We don't need the same rehashed narrative just prettier nearly 30 years later. This is why companies put out so many recycled projects and re tellings of the same story. Because they are afraid of the backlash and infamy they'll receive. People still complain when companies put out recycled content saying it's a 1:1 remake. Lol people can't be satisfied. The reality is, Aerith may survive in this game. She has already died in another timeline. The same with Zack. He has a right to live too. Why do you think the possibility of her surviving upsets me? I actually really like Aerith and wouldn’t care if she does or not. I honestly would like to see how the ey go about her surviving, but I get that what made the original stand out was her death and in my opinion that’s when the Original really got interested. I think the purgatory theory has some truth but here me out. It’s the other way around,cloud and aerith are knocked out the party is in a purgatory state similar to how Jesse described what her father was in in remake. Eventually aerith will catch on wake up and Zack and aerith will go to the capital. Sephiroth got the whispers and changed Zack being alive knowing that would take cloud away from the og party to some extent. Zack is alive and knows he shouldn’t be. Long shot yes. But it would explain certain things.
That’s a good theory, honestly any thing can happen your theory isn’t far fetched. Great point out about Jessie’s dad, completely forgot about that. I have to look for the article but I remember reading that the interviewer was talking with the developers and he asked them what they thought about all these theories that fans have. Betrayed. Could not have said to any better myself. I deliberately avoided all media related to Remake in efforts to recapture that youthful nostalgia… And man was I disappointed, and don’t get me started on the fact that it only covered up to Midgar 🤬 I gotta say though, I’ve got high hopes for Rebirth; if nothing else for the open world aspect.
The theory was that it’s a type of purgatory which means Zack is actually dead already but Aerith will join him. This was an older theory, before the director hamaguchi said in an interview that the story won’t be as complicated as many think
Constructive criticism: I like your delivery and presentation, but the transitions feel a little choppy. Maybe instead of switching music on a new thought, keep it going. Maybe a little less time between the ideas too. Hope that helps!

Fun game to play but whatever they do with the story going forward its not going to help with the problems of the first one in terms of pacing, lack of threat and bizarre character changes of a few key figures most notably Sephiroth. It strikes a very different tone to the original. Very odd how they were so faithful in many small details but not in the bigger strokes. I think they should have just made it its own FF game tbh and leave FFVII alone if they are not going to do something faithful and in spirit of the original dont do it at all just make new games.
I see you point of view and that’s fair, change isn’t for everyone and I understand why many people dislike this project with various valid points you just stated. But I’m honestly pretty excited to see where this all ends and how it leads up to it. They clearly want you to know what will happen to Aerith and even tease fans with the idea of Aerith surviving. You gotta look at this as a business stand point, because at end of the day this is what it is unfortunately. I consider my self a hardcore ff7 fan but there’s a lot of things I disagree on what they are doing and that’s okay. Also when you are limited to creative ideas and having to go off the OG and make it purely the same is rather boring as the developers have stated. Just ruins creativity, just gotta let them work and see what happens. I really do wish that someday they make a true remake or even remaster the Original. It really needs it. They have the assets in every crisis to do so.

This Sephiroth, is Sephiroth POST advent children, being into the lifestream as a god and being able to go back and forth in time. He is the one trying to mess with the events of the OG timeline to test how he can change fate itself, his meddling with the timeline to find a way to change not just his fate but the fate of the planet dying, is what messes with Cloud and aerith's memories. Him trying to kill barret and appearing so soon after you blow up the first reactor was one of the many ways he's doing little attempts at modifying events.
Sephiroth is a new little "god" in the lifestream, spreading it's wings, flexing his muscles and testing his limitations, he shares this space with Aerith inside the lifestream and every other people that returned into it. Geostimga shown that the lifestream and beings in it can be corrupted and he can be spread into the lifestream to corrupt a good portion of it.
The events at the end of Remake, is still Sephiroth in "training" inside the lifestream, and his meddling with fate and the timeline sent Zack from the past, to the future as an accident / unintended consequence. like many other things he's creating as time paradoxes while testing his newfound powers.
About 4 hours into Remake, I realized that it was a sequel, NOT a remake.
And its not a sequel to the original game. Its a sequel to Advent Children.
The Sephiroth appearing to Cloud throughout remake is the Sephiroth that fought Cloud at the end of Advent Children.
I figured that out only part way through Remake.
And lo and behold what are they doing in Japan?
They are re-releasing Advent Children in theaters in Japan just before Rebirth comes out.
So yeah. Nailed it.

Well my friend, fun video as always, happy holidays to you as well. Your editing is quite good, my uh personal taste would lean towards less farts and memes but it's your show man. As for theories, I'm leaning towards Sephiroth being from post Advent Children. He wants Cloud to live, even when he's "trying to kill him" it's odd. I personally don't think we actually fight Sephiroth at the end of the game until we're at the Edge of Creation.
The Sephiroth we fight is kind of a Whisper vision... very specifically they show something like what he claims in the original game to have wanted: at the Forgotten Temple he speaks of using Meteor to make a wound in the planet, where he'll then absorb the Lifestream the planet throws at the wound and he'll become a god. In the cutscene, he absorbs Meteor, but just before it reaches him it turns into the Stigma Lifestream that we saw only in Advent Children. I wouldn't be surprised if the entire game is an Advent Children "do-over," but dunno yet.
And Aerith, saying two different places that the yellow flowers have something important to tell us (once at her house, the again IN QUOTES at her room at Shinra "Follow them. The yellow flowers..." Who is she quoting?), as well as saying every time the Whispers touch her, she feels she loses something important, part of herself/maybe knowledge of the future...? For all her nighttime flower garden talk of "Cloud, don't fall in love with me, your head's messed up bruh" she's awfully clingy in Rebirth footage. In context of the original game, sure, but after dropping that on Cloud and then you go and seriously mess with him like that? That's not EITHER Aerith, she's maybe lost most of her future-vis by then?
LOL mostly just questions heh, but it's fun. As long as the likely "Reunion" Pt.3 doesn't have Sora show up revealing that Aerith is Mickey and Sephiroth's daughter five hundred years from the future I'll be ok (*angrily shakes her fist at Nomura* Thank all that's holy we have the other gang keeping him somewhat sane... I don't want this trilogy getting Kingdom Hearts'd).
...but imagine how cruel it'd be to have the game fade to roll credits at that Aerith praying scene and it just stops, doesn't show us what happens until next game? I'm too old to riot, but I'd have some words.

I completely over looked the yellow flower references, seems like there will be a big emphasis on them in rebirth maybe? Could she be quoting her future self?? As far as the Purgatory theory. Eh, doesnt quite seem right to me. I think what may be more likely is there was a convergence and "rift" after the Harbinger was defeated in remake. Those left in Midgar that are aware of the characters believe that they died (with only Aerith surviving in comatose state, and comatose Cloud being brought by Zack). The disaster event that showed all the party members pass away was the result of that Harbinger battle/rift. The writing will hopefully/ultimately tie it all in and the twist at the end of rebirth will be that there werent separate timelines at all, but that lifestream impacting event with the Harbinger that gave FF7 a rebirth to a more hopeful outcome to the OG ending.

Yeah now that I read about more theories you’re right. The purgatory seems like it may not be it. How you describe it makes more sense, I completely forgot about the rift in the sky that Zack is looking at. I really hope they tie it all together in the end to make it make more sense. Outside of the theories, which I've read enough lol, what I find funny about all this is how people finished the first part with a feeling of "betrayal", but then 80% of those people returned to the "hype" . There are people who really felt betrayed to the point of abandoning it for good, but even these people, I bet that at some point or with "promotions" they will enjoy this game too, so today I realize that the first game it works like a medicine that it burns and hurts, but it disinfects and heals the wounds in some capacity. It's funny how people complain, but they can't resist, I feel like the best part of FFVII is not the "human" factors in the characters' stories, but rather the "mystery", some of the greatest works in humanity are full of secrets and Fascinating things, that will always move people in that direction, just like "conspiracy theories" were very successful with people for a long time. Mystery attracts people, and when everything is revealed, they leave again.

The Forgotten Capital scene - Nomura says even those who've played that scene many times will be shocked - that doesn't sound like it'll be a 1:1 redo of the scene from the OG, otherwise literally no one is going to be shocked. I think we'll get the same outcome, ie she dies, but it will go down differently. Possibly she sacrifices herself to get into the lifestream.
Not in this vid, but a lot of people are taking the "it'll link in to Advent Children" as meaning that the trilogy will lead into AC. I don't think so. I agree with the view that the trilogy is a sequel, not only to the OG, but also AC. OG > AC > Trilogy.
Re the Zack timeline/reality/world/whatever the hell it is, I'm still nowhere near nailing down a solid guess as to what's going on there! There's far too many possibilities. I do like some aspects of the "purgatory" theory but there's other bits that are just too problematic.

About advent children, yup I agree as well with you. It seems like this is a “pre” advent children sephiroth before the events. Idk it seems that way, either way nomura has also stated there’s are 3 worlds with the key art that was released a while back.
Yeah the purgatory is a clever theory but has too many holes to cover. I believe that when it’s all said and done, Aerith will be with Zack some how. But it’s fun theorizing.

I would like to hear detractors answer how they would keep an audience for a three part remake without changing the story up. If it was a 1:1 remake people wouldn’t be thinking about what’s next cause they would already know what would happen.
Good point, that’s very true. One will think that by the end of this game we would know what will happen. But I feel like they are going to throw a curve ball at us. Personally I believe if Aerith survives some crazy shit will happen that alters something else which would leave us in suspense. If they let Aerith die again I feel they would have to make a drastic change elsewhere to keep us guessing like they did in end of remake.
I honestly think we might have to fight Cloud at some point if he loses himself like in the OG. That would be AWESOME. End the game like that and leave it for the next part where we take control of Tifa
Marlene is big key hinter of where are they on both sides, if you go back to AC near the end you see her sense aerith is coming through water, in remake ending she sensed her "daddy" barret through a drip on the plant in her room, for me it says one thing, sephiroth swapped destinies and the actual party in rebirth are in the lifestream "subconsciously" & zack is actually in the altered land of the living. Them in the lifestream is backed up by ever crisis opening narrative of sephiroth, memories of all times & places. Not a divergent timeline or parallel world, its what destiny crossroads means, the exchange at that point where cloud jumped at sephiroth at the end of remake.

Heck even the first announcement teaser the narrator warns about what kind of direction the remake trilogy might take and we should embrace it.

This is a sequel right? Why does the idea of Aerith surviving and living a happy life upset you? Why not be hyped that Zack was spared and the True first class soldier (who gave cloud the false confidence he used to save the world alongside his friends) gets to join the fight?
Aerith died in 1997, and you mean to tell me that 27 years later if she survives people are going to backlash? Nonsense. Let the developers tell the story in my opinion.
We don't need the same rehashed narrative just prettier nearly 30 years later. This is why companies put out so many recycled projects and re tellings of the same story. Because they are afraid of the backlash and infamy they'll receive.

The reality is, Aerith may survive in this game. She has already died in another timeline. The same with Zack. He has a right to live too.

Why do you think the possibility of her surviving upsets me? I actually really like Aerith and wouldn’t care if she does or not. I honestly would like to see how the ey go about her surviving, but I get that what made the original stand out was her death and in my opinion that’s when the Original really got interested.
They will never satisfy everyone but I truly believe rebirth will blow expectations. Game looks phenomenal, I’m all about change. But I also understand why people don’t like remake and it’s all good. 👍🏼

I think the purgatory theory has some truth but here me out. It’s the other way around,cloud and aerith are knocked out the party is in a purgatory state similar to how Jesse described what her father was in in remake. Eventually aerith will catch on wake up and Zack and aerith will go to the capital. Sephiroth got the whispers and changed Zack being alive knowing that would take cloud away from the og party to some extent. Zack is alive and knows he shouldn’t be. Long shot yes. But it would explain certain things.

I have to look for the article but I remember reading that the interviewer was talking with the developers and he asked them what they thought about all these theories that fans have. I’m almost sure it was Hamaguchi who said along the lines like “ oh man, it won’t be that overly complicated.” I have to look for it but I found that really interesting

The theory was that it’s a type of purgatory which means Zack is actually dead already but Aerith will join him. This was an older theory, before the director hamaguchi said in an interview that the story won’t be as complicated as many think

The remake project I believe will turn out to be great. I’m not so sure how long ever crisis will last.
Fun game to play but whatever they do with the story going forward its not going to help with the problems of the first one in terms of pacing, lack of threat and bizarre character changes of a few key figures most notably Sephiroth. It strikes a very different tone to the original. Very odd how they were so faithful in many small details but not in the bigger strokes. I think they should have just made it its own FF game tbh and leave FFVII alone if they are not going to do something faithful and in spirit of the original dont do it at all just make new games.
I see you point of view and that’s fair, change isn’t for everyone and I understand why many people dislike this project with various valid points you just stated. But I’m honestly pretty excited to see where this all ends and how it leads up to it. They clearly want you to know what will happen to Aerith and even tease fans with the idea of Aerith surviving. You gotta look at this as a business stand point, because at end of the day this is what it is unfortunately. I consider my self a hardcore ff7 fan but there’s a lot of things I disagree on what they are doing and that’s okay.
Also when you are limited to creative ideas and having to go off the OG and make it purely the same is rather boring as the developers have stated. Just ruins creativity, just gotta let them work and see what happens.
I really do wish that someday they make a true remake or even remaster the Original. It really needs it. They have the assets in every crisis to do so.
