I can't believe I just found this video!! I do a similar thing to your portable maps, but I use acetate sheets. I felt like a mad genius when I came up with that.
@@Classic_DM exactly! I've found a lot of utility for it too- revealing rooms in a dungeon as they're discovered (like you talked about), representing a space larger than fits on my mat, and having multiple maps ready so my players can have agency and still run into trouble. But drawing on ANOTHER layer on top of the map I never considered! Im really interested in working that into my game!
I'm glad to see a new video, hope to see another module drawing series. I been doing this method for a while in my sci-fi game group (battlelords of the 23rd century, the ole crunchy 90's one!). Ready for more map inspiration!
@@Classic_DM Ye, I'm in norway where everything is expensive. But might be able to get something cheap ish. There is a place nearby that make all kinds of things in plexi glass, so might be able to get something for cheap or nothing there. The worst things to get here is foam core board, they are either to small or to expensive its not worth is. Like a a4 sized foam core is around 5$ each.

That's awesome! The only reason I ever made this method up was so I could pre draw the rooms in greater detail and have them ready to go!

Rock on!
I need one of these boards, the battle board we use looks like crap after just light use.
They are cheap (see description) but as I recall you're overseas. Maybe you can find a comparable dry-erase board?
