The amount of time I’ve spent sitting on the couch with the controller in my hand scrolling through my entire playstation library not knowing what game I want to play next is insane. 😂
I do this every single time on Ps5 and PC, lol. I waste probably an hour at least before deciding. Or I will start one up, then quickly change my mind and start something else.
In fact, I think every video I watch could be improved by having Rob moderate it. I wish we had a British version of Takeshi's Castle where he would take up the role of Takeshi. It just suits his personality perfectly.
@fromthedepths20 YES!! Takeshi's castle would be best with Robert S Pearson instead of regular Rob, something I would definitely spend an unhealthy amount of time ninge watching!!
Made my year I thiink, Watching max play FF7 series, Resident Evil Series (while wearing leon's jacket), Is pure joy. Rob has hit the nail on the head with this one for me.
I did that last night! Trying to explain to my wife that, that song followed by Hikari has a special place in my heart. Especially when Hikari starts playing, that instrumental with the video playing will forever reach in and touch my soul.
@dznutzonfyre4432 I have one, I just prefer to use my Playstation since I'll get my headset on, and once I'm done eating, it's two button presses to start gaming. If I were to use my tv, the amount of effort required to switch over would exaggerate the problems mentioned in this video. I apologize if my choices offend you, but it's 4 weeks later and I'm still trying to understand how I choose to consume my media affects you in any way.
Midnight, 11/11/11. Skyrim in my hand, rushing home to install it. Promptly sat on the menu screen listening to the absolute mind-melting chant rather than playing the game I was more hyped to play than almost any other ever.
You forgot the scrolling through your library trying to decide what to play next. Endless hours of scrolling back and forth, and then as quickly as sat down, your gaming time has come to an end and you never played a second of actual game.
If a game has an interesting lore or set in an already established universe, I'll spend days (or sometimes months) consuming every bit of content I can find. I'm currently lost in Middle-Earth. I've been playing multiple games set in the world, reading all the lore I can find, watching all the movies and TV series. Last month it was the Star Wars universe, and before that, it was the world of The Witcher and Warhammer. It feels like I'm living in these worlds.
Guaranteed, if Google says a game should take 20 hours to complete, it's going to take me 45-50. Not sure where they get these figures from unless people are just getting a game, immediately looking up a walkthrough and following it religiously.
Here is another one for you. Spending time online. Looking for things you intend to do when you do play. I play a lot of elder Scrolls Online (ESO) I'll spend hours sometimes. Researching online the quest I intend on doing that evening. Looking for all the things you can find in said quest. Finding the secret boss that is hiding behind the slightly different colored wall. Finding all the treasure chests and trying to memorize them. Before I actually play the game. Then when I do play the game that night. I do absolutely nothing to do with the quest . I spent 5 hours researching that afternoon.
Spending too much time playing FFXV driving around jamming to tunes after finding the old ff games soundtracks in the stores instead of finishing the game
Rob name dropping Maximillian Dood makes me feel so called out... My IRL friends are too slow! I need to see SOMEBODY'S reaction to the late game stuff!
3:09 Someone did that already (not Nat'l Geographic though)! They submitted landscape photography to their local news station from RDR2 during a viewer photos segment and it made it on the news!
I can relate to the music one- I listened to the menu music for Kingdom Hearts Melody of Memories for maybe half an hour before i actually started playing
Yep. Landscape shots. I thought about buying an actual camera, and actually using it in actual nature. Then I thought about how many visually stunning games I could take shots in, for the price of said camera.
You guys read my mind I'm sure. I've done nothing but procrastinate this week instead of playing. One thing I do instead of playing games mainly is, trawling for ages through all the sales on the PSN Store. Honestly, I spend more time buying cheap games these days than I actually do playing!!! 😂 Great video Rob 😂
I totally agree with entry 2, and you hit the mark when mentioning FF7 rebirth. if "Hollow" became one of my absolutely top music, I believe many people has missed or did not notice the brilliant "Hollow" remix near Midgar-Kalm Region. it is just ......... wow
What about calculating your free time between now and release of “next game you are really looking forward to”; then looking at the estimated time to complete of either games in your backlog or the previous game in the series and deciding what is optimal to play between now and release day?
Great video! Oh, the backseat gaming has made me not play a game for months just to punish the backseat gamer. I love spending time in my freighter in No Man's Sky that I've meticulously crafted. Nothing like popping in a batch of residual goop into the refiner and letting it process away in the background while I have lunch and maybe a game of sudoku or two or maybe even a Friday feature. The pleasant hum of the refiner just immerses me in my own little universe. Meanwhile, there's 18 quadrillion systems that need exploring and here I am just sitting in my freighter. I love what you guys do - keep up the good work!
Reading up as much as I can about the game to spend as much time optimising my time on the game. Such as getting the perfect stats in Dragons Dogma by levelling certain roles in order. It doesn’t need to be done but it feels good when it’s pulled off 😅
Doing other things, anything else instead of actually starting a new game. Feels like it happens to me all the time. Got a new game, insert it into the console, about to push the start button....oh look my console/controller/game area is dusty, so time to clean the same area I cleaned just 5 mins ago or time to do something I haven't done in ages or ever. And before I know it, a week has gone by.
I love waiting at the assassin den in brotherhood and revelation while the other assassins that had been recuted returned from their assignment as I listened to the crackling fireplace
I am one for listening to soundtracks, the Stellaron Hunter SAM boss theme oh so good, sets up the fire within me.. Also the arguing and backseat gaming when i was younger with my friends... oh the memories...
I once, back in 1997, put my copy of Final Fantasy VII on the title screen, turned the brightness all the way down, and fell asleep to the gentle sounds of The Prologue music.
Back in 2020, after getting my copy of Final Fantasy VII remake - I let the prologue play for probably 2 hours before even starting the game with tears streaming down my face at how perfect it was.
Back in the day, I used to spend two or three hours scrolling through and downloading/installing flight simulator files only to “play” the game for half an hour.
I’ve listened to video game music all the time for YEARS! I’ve done it at all of PlayStation’s console generations and still do it to this day! I did it with Final Fantasy Rebirth, but today, the game I do it the most with is Genshin Impact! Also, about the watching your favorite RUclipsr play a game you recently play and see their reactions; I feel called out!
Looking up tips and tricks or walkthroughs for a game while said game is on pause to make sure you don't miss anything before going in to play...... also, being at work thinking about a game while unable to play because you are at work lol.
instead of listening to soundtracks, mine was falling to sleep to them, stellaris was one of them. to soothing. with organizing my games yes but also modding my game helps as well to calm down.
Remember when FF 1&2 dawn of souls came out for the GBA? I used to kill all the AA batteries in the house listening to just the prelude on the menu screen. Such a simple arpeggio means so much to a series and this was my favorite iteration of the FF prelude.
I recently realised when I was playing WWE 2k24. I spend most of my time looking at what things have been made and added to community creations instead of actually playing it.
3:25 “… pausing the game, not to look at pretty things, but…” my heart stopped there for a moment, as I thought he was on to me. Fortunately it was just about music.
American here. You caught me asking myself two questions instead of gaming. Is a Limit Break what the folks in the Playstaton Access offices call Lunch time? Also.. what's a crockery?
When I was about 15 my best friend at the time and I discovered the perfect way to blend Watching Others Play Video Games and Backseat Gaming together with actually playing the game. We realized that the Wii console's nunchuck and remote setup provided an opportunity to cooperatively play a single-player game. And so off we went, myself wielding the remote and her wielding the nunchuck, and we played through Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess like that. There was laughing, arguing, berating, brilliant moments where we were actually in sync with each other... it was actually absolutely loads of fun! Also incredibly unorthodox and I've never met another person who has done this with their friend.
How about coming home on a Friday excited to finally play some games after a grueling workweek but then feeling so tired that the PlayStation just ends up becoming a Netflix machine.
Probably the most evil, dark-sided version of procrastination is the Wiki Hole, half because it often starts *while* I'm gaming. I'll tell myself, "Hey, don't you know that voice actor from somewhere?" And then peer down at my phone as if it were a devil unfurling a hateful bargain for me to sign. Sometimes, I resist. Sometimes, I look it up, inevitably spending half an hour spoiling myself on the rest of the game in the process, actively ruining my enjoyment of the game I'm no longer playing while the devil laughs and laughs.
I put my games in spreadsheets. Elden Ring, which I've been slowly playing my way through for a solid 2 years now, now takes up at least 4 separate spreadsheets. One for all weapons, one for all armor, one for all the other misc stuff, and one for my best armors and calculating which armor set is best to wear based on what carrying capacity I have left after choosing my weapon set for a coming battle.
I do 3,4 and 5. #3 Organising is down to my OCD, for example in RE4 my attache case is setup where guns along the top, ammo along the bottom and health on the right side.
4:56 actually yes. I remember loving the menu music in Race Driver: Grid on ps3 and i would boot up the game and just listen to the music (the track is called Vintage Warmer by Nathan Boddy)
In our case, doing side-quests instead of focusing on the main mission/quest/solo campaign. Me? I’d say I’m writing about games and reviewing them instead of playing them.
These lists have been calling me out a lot recently but especially this one, before watching it, called me out😅, which I think is a new speed record for how fast Rob's lists are so relatable🤣😂
1.) I only play around with photo mode if there's a trophy. 2.) I've never done this, waste of time imo. 3.) I only organize my in-game equipment if it's required like Resident Evil 4. I do like to organize my physical game collection by USA release date though. 4.) I only do this when looking for my next game to platinum, or to look up trophies I'm working on. 5.) I do this when unsure about a game I might buy/play, RUclips walkthroughs are great. 6.) I only have to defend the kid friendly games I play. They're nice breaks between harder ones! 7.) I'm guilty of this when showing a friend a new game, or if they're new to gaming.
The origins of consider and I'm aware of the situation 😂😂😂 never gets old! Also you forgot looking things up about the game like spending hours looking up builds for your characters instead of actually crafting said builds in game and play 😅
The amount of time I’ve spent sitting on the couch with the controller in my hand scrolling through my entire playstation library not knowing what game I want to play next is insane. 😂

Same nightmare such a backlog but still looking for new games!
@Mark-hw7kf same. Gotta add to the ever expanding collection of digital goodness.
@@Mark-hw7kfme too😂
I just look at my library to see what games to download and play when i'm bored
Watching Friday features instead of playing games
Literally right this second! 😂😂😅
This
Totally guilty of this one!
Learning that Rob enjoys Max Dood’s FF7 playthrough made my day.
An awesome shoutout as well, love that dood
Made my year I thiink, Watching max play FF7 series, Resident Evil Series (while wearing leon's jacket), Is pure joy.
Rob has hit the nail on the head with this one for me.
Just sitting on the Kingdom Hearts main menu to listen to “Dearly Beloved”
Yes!!
Yes. All versions!
I did that last night! Trying to explain to my wife that, that song followed by Hikari has a special place in my heart. Especially when Hikari starts playing, that instrumental with the video playing will forever reach in and touch my soul.
Yessss
KH2 version best
I'm literally watching this video on my ps5 instead of playing a game...
dedication to the cause!
Get a smart tv
🤣😂😄
@dznutzonfyre4432 I have one, I just prefer to use my Playstation since I'll get my headset on, and once I'm done eating, it's two button presses to start gaming.

@@thealph1191 dunno why you bothered with an answer tbh... ANY TV, whether SMART or remote controlled would be a bother imo
I would love to see a Rob and Max collaboration where they just sit down and nerd out over FFVII.
Yes I'm sure you were just "enjoying the music" at 4:32
Rosie "I AM AWARE OF THE SITUATION!!" Caddick is one of the goat access moments.
Only topped by "WHERE IS THE BUTTON? WHAT ARE THE RULES?"^^
Agreed

Wholeheartedly agree! Getting completely immersed in lore is awesome!
I’m currently in the “sitting on the couch scrolling through my library” part of my life.

Hell i don't even have a ps5 just a ps4 but still like to support the channel especially the Friday Feature.
Rob is the best!
It almost sounds like Rob has spoken with Hollie recently, even if Dave was the voice arguing for FF8
One hungover New Year's Day I used my wife's save on Grand Theft Auto Vice City to just drive around and listen to the radio for four hours. Bliss.

10:05 No names were needed because we all know the name of a “former” best friend of Rob’s and friend of the channel who loves Final Fantasy VIII
To be fair it could be Ben Starr too
Thank you for making this comment so I didn’t have to 👍
Rob, I am so flippin excited for the Christmas Maze this year!
Stopped playing Metaphor Fantazio to watch a beginners guide and your video distracted my distraction.
Having just spent 2 hours watching Rob and Rosie play AtroBot, I cannot deny number 5, as much as I love number 6...

With dave on this ff8 beats 9 but 12 is still my favourite
I love having a backseat gamer back me up for street racing games.
It’s like having a navigator in the passenger seat.
I won't even start BG3, just vibe to the music on the home screen. It's so soothing

Healing is not an option 😂
Never touched photo mode, unless its part of the 100% completion but really am I the wierd one for not liking them
Never used photo mode in any game 😂
I've never opened a photo mode lol
I'm not a fan, either. I sooo rarely find myself thinking "ooh, I'll just stop and screen shot this"
Same here, i've never found it fun so i just do it if it's part of a quest in the game.
I'm barely even aware it exists
I am one for listening to soundtracks, the Stellaron Hunter SAM boss theme oh so good, sets up the fire within me..

The only thing i do is adding games to wishlist and never buying them cuz they're expensive
Never used photo mode, except for trophy hunting :P
instead of listening to soundtracks, mine was falling to sleep to them, stellaris was one of them. to soothing.

Its ok Rob, you can admit listening to Stamp / Salmon quest theme on repeat, we all did... Wan Wan Wan

Early PlayStation tv advert Easter egg there…I spotted it!! 😂
Confessing to his 'double life'..?

Finding out Zola was only at Chelsea for 7 years is absolutely wild.
Good luck with those Concord trophies Rob.
Sometimes I pause a game and narrate a review in my head for a RUclips channel I don’t have.
Never though I'd get a Zola reference on this channel. Go Blues!
List definitely missing 'watch reviews of the game you already own'
Ah watching Gamerqnx "Before you buy" of a game I've already bought, done that many times.
put that navy blue between black and gray is savage.
Gianfranco Zola, the little magician, my favourite ever player, I never expected that when I clicked this video😂

This would have been the perfect video topic for April Fool's Day. It could be five seconds long with NOTHING on screen the whole time.
I do love a good ol’ stroll down the memory lane of my trophy list.
My biggest takeaway from this feature was that the Peason household had not one but two Playstations? Oh to live a life of such luxury....
I had totally forgotten about the "I am aware of the situation!" line. Classic.
I do like FF9 over FF8 but FF7 is the best one out of the 3, also i did paused at cosmo canyon in rebirth just to listen to the theme before moving on
Number 2. Nier replicant. Unlocking the song of the ancients duet. I must have stayed in that tavern for half a dozen loops of it before moving on.
Hey when a soundtrack of a game is so good of course you have to pause the game and enjoy it! I also do that all the time!
Final fantasy 9 is by far my favourite! I hope you play through it on the channel
Only time I ever bothered with photo mode was Spiderman, and even then it was only 5-10 mins tops.
Hey I have one! watching friday features because they are awesome! see you next friday Rob
So it's settled then. Dave is doing a full game let's play through FFXIII
I put my games in spreadsheets. Elden Ring, which I've been slowly playing my way through for a solid 2 years now, now takes up at least 4 separate spreadsheets. One for all weapons, one for all armor, one for all the other misc stuff, and one for my best armors and calculating which armor set is best to wear based on what carrying capacity I have left after choosing my weapon set for a coming battle.
knowing that Rob is a fan of maximillian dood, we need a collab! 😂
I honestly LOVE watching let's plays of my favorite games. So same! That includes watching PS Access :)
That was fantastic. Every item on this list. I miss sound tests. Seems to be missing more often lately. But a few games keep that extra option intact
