  • Tom Booth sits down with Curtis Stephan to discuss his new song, Tend the Ground. Stephan was inspired to compose this thoughtful ballad after reading Pope Francis’ encyclical, Laudato Si’. All creatures share one common home. When we care for the Earth, we care for each other. www.ocp.org/en...
Curtis wrote Tend the Ground around the need to care for our environment and one another. He drew inspiration for the song while reading the encyclical. He says, "We should take care of the earth because it takes care of our kids. We take care of one another because that's how God's love is planted in our lives."
Everything gives praise to God, glory to God. As we take care of the environment, we take care of one another.
“We till the earth, we tend the ground. Sowing hope and peace where naught is found. In selfless love, God’s life abounds, we till the earth, we tend the ground.”
“Let plows be forged from swords that kill, let tools of war be shaped to till, and break the heart and stony ground, Lord bring your peace, Lord bring your peace.”

It's too bad this couldn't have been a late add to the 2018 Breaking Bread book. I don't want to wait another year before using it every week..... :-)
