- In my opinion, probably the best game soundtrack I've ever heard.
The soundtrack was taken from Dark Reign 2, an old RTS game developed by Pandemic Studios back in 2000.
I don't really know who made the soundtrack, but I guess it's Eric Klein or Christian A. Salyer.

OMG Im reliving my childhood. This game was The best
This track really speaks to me in so many layers,as a writer this gives me a sense of a dark and dystopian future and the echoes of the past that was once blissful compared to the present timeline of dark reign and what's to come(dark reign 2).This track really executed the atmosphere of the grim future of earth and the desperate fight between the last forces of humanity.
I still have the CD game, simply because you can pop it into a CD player and listen to the soundtrack. Totally one of the best soundtracks ever.
I got this in the original box sealed at a half price books for 6 bucks.
Had no idea what I was getting myself into until I opened the game and this popped up.
Still haven’t forgotten about this gem of a game 💎

Man, I couldn't agree with you more. It's a pity that there are no more soundtracks like this.
The only game that comes close is Halo, though its soundtrack pales in comparison to Dark Reign's one.
i really love this track not just by its dystopian atmosphere but having super smooth transition between 1:38 ~ 3:00

I've ran down sunset beaches and climbed peaks of mountains to this composition. Truly inspiring and motivational. Actually, words fail me. Masterful composition that has carried way beyond my childhood of playing this game
GOD! THis is why i love playing this game no matter how old it is, it's fun, and it keeps me on the key board as long as the music is playing.!

This is really so much more better than the original DR soundtrack and ten times more cinematic.

@ KnightOfCydonia90 I actually got this running on windows 7! all I did was right clicked the cd drive and explore cd, then I clicked on autorun for some reason whenever I tried to play the cd directly it would come up with some kind of problem and wouldn't install, but autorun in the cd directory gave me no problems! After install, the game worked fine!

It works as a VPN, but it's not specifically multiplayer, just like a LAN game all over the world.
I know what you mean. I dug up the game recently and for ha-ha's installed it, finding myself surprised that it actually runs on my modern rig. I must say, the path-finding is irritating, when even on wide pathways, units go into single file

@Z3R0TH30RY Activision seems to just mine deeper into the once a year shooter genre. It would be hard to do that with RTS, since such minute changes won't be accepted unless it's a really established title like Starcraft.
Nah, I don't think we would be seeing a new one in the near future, as hard as it is to say it.

This is one of the greatest intro soundtracks for any game ever. Shame it was the highlight.

The Dark Reign 2 CD could be played as a standalone music CD. Tbh the music was supremely better than the game so it's become a lost gem. Brilliant track though. Superb

I also think that DR2 soundtrack is great. My favourites are number one, five and six.
If it is the best... well, I wouldn't be too sure. Especially because of the fact, that StarCraft game music is better IMHO.

I agree with you about Dark Reign 3..but nowadays there are a lot of good RTS games out there, so if they ever made Dark Reign 3, they would be struggling to compete with the others.
I'm not saying the game isn't good, its just that they would have to implement new features to make the game unique and stand out from the crowd...in a good way, of course.
i think the website is down...yeah ur right..like C&C3,um..what else..well u know..plus they would have to sort of continue the DR2 story somehow..cuz i might be wrong about the story..cuz i never beat DR2 lol...both factions i was stuck at mission where u have like 20min to destroy the enemy base..so idk how the story ends

What DID work was to install on a virtual old windows and copy/paste the files to my physical win7 computer.
It's been a while, I hope I don't mistake this with a solution for another oldg ame^^

tried a virtual machine with win98 and win2k, but the games states that directx7 is missing, thoug it isn't. It gets installed along with the game.
And playing on win7 64bit? Hahahahahaha, fat chance!

Although a great game, DR2 surely had one annoying flaw - PATHFINDING! No matter, how large army I gathered, it was in vain, because all units moved on the same path - always forming a line. There was no way to attack in mass!

well there is another site called galbadia hotel..they dont have it either...imagine if activision or pandemic made a Dark Reign 3..and it totaly blows away Starcraft 2..that would be one hell of a game :D
