    Great video!
In my homebrew setting, Elves are quite different than FR elves. High elves are super far and few to be seen. They live the longest and are regarded at gods almost. They are sought out for their extensive knowledge.
Wood elves are nomadic and love to hunt huge game. They speak a very rough sounding language usually do not bother to learn other races tongues. They don't barter with too many other races either unless they've proven they can hunt the large dangerous game they do. Wood elves live off of these massive kills and therefore do not offer their efforts to those who do not deserve them.
Haven't done anything for Dark Elves yet, the party hasn't seen any.

That's really cool its almost like a more barbaric take on the race we usually see as being more gentle. I like it.

You created something close to the nordic myth. Leytalf (light elves) are the third set of gods although lesser than Aesir ( Odin and Thor) and Vanir. Dokker alf would include wood elves although this means dark elf and a third group, Swartzalf, which isn't really elves, but thought to be dwarves. THese elves can't stand light.

27:00 You don't need to implement an idea where elves would need actual sleep because they do dream in their trance. The trance for elves is what speel is for humans, but even better. It's called the Reverie and depending on their age and maturity, they dream of different things during it. They dram of their past lives (pre-incarnation) before they've achieved maturity; past events from their current life (because they live for so long, the only way to ensure their memories don't fade is by having their memories replay while they're in trance) when they're mature; or dreams of their Heaven - the realm of Arvandor, once they become centuries old and are close to "dying" (more like going to Arvandor and possibly being reincarnated) and the dreams are so potet that an elf's last years are full of insatiable longing for the realm of Arvandor where Corellon lives.

You've mentioned that wood elves've got a blurred origin, this is how I see it: after the Crown Wars and the banishment of the now Drows (Dark Elves) the Elven empires went into a steep decline, with some elves retreating to the island of Evermeet - which they rose before the war - and maintaining their culture, and some other being "left behind" from the "escape" and starting to live on what was left behind of the land (you know, ground sundering rituals, 3000 years of war...) along with the other races that started to flourish after the "age of the elves"(tolkien??) xD it is mentioned i don't remember where that wild elves' elvish is a bit different from the high elves', almost like a dialect, connecting to the explanation I chose to believe in xD
anyways, awesome work, keep it up! cheers

I am a Forgotten Realms fan. It is the setting I am most familiar with. There is some unique elven history in FR, and it might be beneficial to check out, especially as FR is now the "default" setting, though they have messed with some lore (looking at you, Mordenkanian's Tome of Foes). Demihuman Deities, Lost Empires of Faerun, and the novel Evermeet: Island of Elves are great FR sources for info on elves and the Seldarine (elven pantheon).
As someone else mentioned, in the Forgotten Realms, there is a benevolent drow goddess named Eilistraee, who has been around for a long time. She has just been shoehorned in 4e and 5e. Hopefully that changes.

"Elvish" and "dwarvish" is actually worse!
In puerto rico "bicho" (small bug) is slang for penis and a classic schoolyard joke is to tell someone "hey someone called you" and when they ask who you reply "El bicho mio" (my dick) but heres the thing, we also shorten it and pronounce it live a V instead of a B for extra humor "el viiiiish" (this diiiick)
Literally everytime me and my friend pick characters everytime we pick a language we ask "what language are you gonna pick?" And then reply "ELVIIIIISH"

Speaking of playing against type as a brash, young Elf, I have a half-elf character whose charisma score is a 7. This is because he inherited a sense of bloodlust from his human father that he leashes with Monk training and always finding ways to get his fix while doing his best to avoid killing when practical on top of the usual "caught between two worlds" schtick half-elves deal with. This makes for *hilarious* roleplaying when NPCs roll up on my party and start trying to chat my character up for him to say "talk to the Tiefling or Goliath; I don't to this whole 'people' thing." My DM is going to have some truly *EVIL* ways to screw with him.

I would like to add to the discussion that the Drow is great in 5E because they get a bonus to charisma which so many classes rely on. Paladins, Warlocks, Sorcerers, Bards. Drow are also like some bad ass sexy bitch with too many tatoos. Exotic and attractive for sure, but do you really want to take a Drow home to mom? Also in the Dungeon of the Mad Mage campaign there is a Drow BDSM section of the Dungeon. Floor 3, room 7A to 7E complete with torture tables. Drow women are in charge. They know what they want and will take it from you no matter how hard your scream. LOLZ its worth reading. See page 47 and 48 of the source material, Waterdeep: Dungeon of the Mad Mage. I think it provides great insight into how Drow women 'treat' males.

I played a night elf rogue till northrend came out. It inspired my own lore for my illustrated novel series "Chronicles of Alkaya" my character Jaypar Prakkari is a lunar elf/avariel elf he was born without wings, rogue assassin that can shadow jump with umbrakinesis and bend the light around him with cloaking photokinesis. He's not as tall as a night elf only 6'4" 200lbs he's got dark hair cut like the goblin king jareth. He's got glowing green eyes that are adapted to seeing in the dark. In book four in my series "Alkaya: the lightening strikes at night" we follow jaypar on his mission to the darkside of the moon. First he must find the lunar saber or sword of truth an ancient alkayan artifact hidden on mt everest. When he finds the saber he holds it above his head and he's struck by a bolt of ultraviolet lightening and is instantly transported to the palace of the white witch/shadow priestess on the darkside of the moon. She trains jaypar how to use glamour magick and he becomes a Glamancer aka the westside wizard. With her help he finds the air temple to battle the gargoyle king the lunar saber is the only blade sharp enough to cut his flesh. After defeating the king he recovers the air Empyro a biomechanical symbiotic suit of armor that adjusts to conform to the host and is imbued with the elemental power aerokinesis. Think venom meets iron man meets the last airbender. There are three other Empyros that we find in the previous books book one the earth book Alkaya: the legend of Empyro you can find on amazon we find the earth empyro in south America. Alkaya is a parallel world of earth so the geography and names for places are the same. The host for the geo empyro is my younger brothers character bantam bumeril the wood elf demon hunter. The second book Alkaya: The rising tide follows my older brothers character Ferrick Vatten the whale man warrior on his mission to the water temple in the Mariana trench. The third book Alkaya: the wyldfyre follows Kolobar Avlossa the lion manimal pyromancer shaman to the fire temple located at mt. Hood oregon. The fifth book Alkaya: the holy light follows Sabria Masue the high elf holy paladin she discovers there's a fifth Empyro hidden in Egypt that enhances her photokinesis abilities. She's the heals and gets the team together she must solve the riddle of the sphinx. The sixth book Alkaya: the enveloping shadow follows Arnvatta the dark elf repticon and lead singer of dressed for genocide, as he steals an Empyro and they mimic the Empyros technology creating the shadow suit and synth empyros granting enhanced umbrakinesis. The last book in the series is book seven Alkaya: The immortal spirit. After our heroes save their realm from the great shadow dragon Lucifer they decide their work isn't done so they decide to save the multiverse by falling through the void. They end up on earth with their memories erased. Jaypar is the only one whos memories are triggered by different symbols in their realm. When i turned 16 i had a kundalini awakening the doctors called it a manic episode but i knew it was a spiritual emergence and remembered my life in Alkaya. Book seven is almost autobiographical because i talk about my experiences being hospitalized and waking up to my true potential finding the Empyros and save earth from reptilian fascists. You can listen to my audiobook accompaniment here www.soundcloud.com/chroniclesofalkaya
