Lucky are the few who got to be together with Ustad Shahid Parvez for this baithak. Rageshree is such a divine Raag, and to hear the beautiful notes coming from his sitar is spell binding.Thank you for giving us this excellent video.
Yes, agree with Anzay Warid, this divine music is being disturbed by people trying to talk to one another...! What a shame!!!! When are they going to learn to listen to such GREAT music?
What a shame that this dazzling display of talent and virtuosity was disturbed by the constant noise of people speaking and going back to and fro. The audience never settled down to listen in pin-drop silence. And "his holiness" whom one sees in other programs, had instructions and nods and gestures to his underlings for quite a bit of the time from his corner. As for Ustad Shahid Parvez, there will never be another one like him again. His perfection in Sitar can not even remotely be approached by others in the field.
Chill out.. That is the typical environment of house concerts. If you listen to the old greats, like Amir Khan-Sahib or any other of his contemporaries, the audio recordings are FILLED with "wah-wah's" and cheering and etc. If you want everyone to sit still and be quiet as a mouse, go to a Western Classical music concert. Your hard-on for Shahid Parvez is a little much. His "holiness"? Give me a break man, he's an INCREDIBLY talented musician, but he's still just a human being.
What a good looking guy he was as a young man. Great musicality in his interpretation of Rageshri here.

This Rag played by the great Sitar Maestro Ustad Shahid Parvez is simply breathtaking and mesmerizing. His technique and the art of playing is unique.

His playing here at a younger age is a little more resemblant of Vilayat Khan-sahib's playing.. in a good way actually.
