Lived in Pickering for 25 years. Still has a friendly small town feel. Great schools. More development will likely bring better transit and more services.
The redevelopment of the central area of Pickering is certainly going to change the vibe of the city, but with easy access to nature, it won't be difficult to get out of the big city and check out some beautiful spots! The density will also hopefully bring more transit and better connectivity! Great video, Mitchell!
Very good job to sum up everything. Would be cool if Pickering could find a way to hide a little bit the nuclear plant or making it blend better. I am sure something could be done.
Thanks Sébastien, I appreciate it! Ya I'm sure it wouldn't be overly difficult to add a nice green space/ garden at the end of the beach to try and mask the power plant a little.
Great video. Nice job. If someone lands a job at either Pickering or Darlington Power stations, what are the areas one can live? Family of 5 (3 kids aged between 3 and 9 years old)? Looks like houses are expensive around there but what towns would you advice? Towns that are good for kids and without traffic to the power stations?
There are a few different options and they’ll depend on how long the person is willing to commute. Of course living in Pickering and Ajax would make for a short commute to the Pickering Power plant and there are many family friendly neighbourhoods with great schools in both cities. If someone gets a job at Darlington; Oshawa, Courtice and Bowmanville are towns close by and since they are further east from Toronto than Pickering and Ajax, they are more affordable as well. Of course this is just a general idea and will vary depending on what’s important to the specific family. If you have any other questions or want to talk about this further, you’re more than welcome to email me at Mitchell@WeisnerRealEstate.ca.
Oh nice, where are you visiting from? Like everywhere in the GTA, rent prices have been going up here in Pickering pretty quick over the last few years. However, Pickering is much more affordable compared to Toronto, Mississauga, Markham and other cities close to Toronto. The rent cost really depends on what you're looking for, whether it's a one bedroom basement apartment or a full four bedroom house. And for Air BNB, unfortunately I'm not familiar with them here and can't give you any recommendations really.

Thanks Victor! I agree, the redevelopment will hopefully bring much needed upgrades to Pickering's transit system.

Im planning to visit Pickering in July 2024. What's the renting cost like there ? Any Air BNB recommendations?
