Obi Questions N54.2T Budget, Seeks Accountability

Labour Party's 2023 presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has called for greater transparency and accountability in light of Nigeria's increased Budget of Restoration, now at 54.2 trillion naira. While recognizing the reported revenue growth, Obi expressed concerns regarding the lack of a clear breakdown of expenditures to justify this increase. He emphasized the need for Nigerians to be informed about how public funds are allocated and spent, particularly in essential sectors such as education, healthcare, security, and poverty alleviation.
Obi urged the government to ensure that the budget provides tangible benefits for national development and the well-being of citizens rather than becoming a tool for wasteful spending.
