This song is from the Canadian-French rock opera Starmania, written in 1976 by Michel Berger and written by Luc Plamondon. He made his debut in 1978 with a studio recording of songs, before the stage premiere in 1979. The main character sings this lullaby when he loses his beloved. This is a lullaby. A very difficult piece to perform. No one has done it properly yet. Dimash has been polishing it for years. And this is his pinnacle
I agree about labels. He is on tour with the band AStudio for some years already. He has Igor Krutoy who was a retired composer until he met Dimash. He already visited USA and Europe. A ticket is not cheap. He did a movie title song, music videos, duetts with Aida Garifullina sopranist from the opera of vienna and Lara Fabian and much more. I think he is better off without a label. They tend to squeeze artists in a frame they can sell and Dimash needs the freedom for his own arts.

👉This song is Dimash’s calling card. That is the song of the songs for Dimash and us, his Dears (That is what Dimash calls us fans.)
The song comes from the famous Canadian-French rock opera 'Starmania' 1978, well known in French-speaking countries) and is one of the most difficult songs to sing and in 2017 made Dimash a mega-star overnight.
That's how it all started: In 2017 Dimash received a wildcard for the “The Singer” competition in China. He was the youngest participant ever (22 years old). Foreign participants were actually forbidden at that time. The director ignored the ban, believing Dimash would only stay 1 or 2 episodes and then go home.
The competition is not a talent show. Only professional, award-winning singers participate. Nobody knew or heard Dimash before and he had to start first ... and after his first song "SOS" Dimash captured the hearts of over 600 million viewers and a mega-star was born overnight. The next day, bodyguards stood in front of his door.
The competition consisted of 14 rounds over 4 months. The jury consisted of 500 spectators who knew music, not just your average "Joe". They were well screened to be sure they would be able to judge the musicians fairly and competently. With up to 1 billion people watching this TV program and international interest was aroused. The performances were uploaded to RUclips ... and so we became Dimash's Dears.
The Chinese organizers planned... but Dimash came, sang and stayed ... for the next 3 years in China ... but he only finished second in the competition because he is not Chinese (conditions have changed: 2018, Jessie J. won).
A few months later Dimash sang this song here, as a guest of honor at the opening ceremony of the competition 'Slavic Bazaar 2018'. The International Arts Festival “Slavianski Bazaar“ is an annual festival held in Vitebsk, Belarus since 1992. Its main program is devoted to Slavic music (also a Competition).

Considering his immense talent and showmanship, American reactors are often bewildered as to why Dimash is not yet a household name in the U.S . These comments tell me how they obviously do not understand the workings of the music industry, but you certainly do.
If you haven't reacted to Dimash in a while, you will be dumbfounded as to where he is at today. His voice control is still perfect but he succeeds in surprising us with (breathtaking) new vocal techniques, new sounds, new genres. As far as showmanship goes, Dimash can now be counted as an accomplished performer as he totally embodies each word and emotion of each song he sings. You cannot take your eyes off of him when he sings and dances (yep, dancing).
I need to see him dancing! I’ve only reacted to him singing slower songs… not really songs to dance to lol

He has had a concert in New York in 2019, it's available to watch.. Seeing a whole concert by him is mind blowing, up to 3 hours of incredible music and stage presence.. Also he's had a few songs on Billboard Hot 100 for long periods of time. Be With Me, Fly Away, and I think the latest is Okay, I may be wrong on that one. A couple of days ago I watched a press conference from Slavic Bazaar in 2021, when Dimash was judge in the competition he wan in 2015 with SOS (ruclips.net/video/gn4O3JnW1Ns/видео.html). Answering the questions of the press, he talked much of the same issues you did now. I think you would enjoy it. It shows many sides of Dimash that I hadn't thought about.
