I have the same sentiments as you for the last one you talked about. It helps the person be grounded, humble and will make them work hard to be better

They are not really 'Korean' you know, these 'lies' ? People tell the exact same things everywhere in the world. It's quite common, really.

She is korean so she is sharing, she did not say it is solely a korean lie. There is a difference.

In America, we would think of it as manners or little white lies. We too will say “Call me, we must get together!” It is mostly to say I care about you, I like you but it is rarely a real plan.
When someone asks How are you? We always say Good and you? Even if things are bad. They always reply Good too. Even if things are bad. However if you are close friends, you can say what the big problem is.
We also always tell our friends You look beautiful. We try to compliment maybe their shoes or purse or hair style. We never speak about weight. If one of our fat friends worries about her weight we shower her with love and assure her she is wonderful and we are very supportive if she is actually losing weight.
If we are at a party and are introduced to new people we ask “What do you do for work?” But my European friends think this is very rude to ask.
If something goes wrong, I. Almost all situations we try to comfort the person who, let’s say burned the dinner she was serving or spilled the wine by saying: “It’s ok, It happens to all of us. No worries.”
We use “No worries” a lot in life in any public situation where someone apologizes about a delay or problem. Because honestly very little in life is that important.
The worst people are Middle Aged white women who are upper middle class and complain rudely. We call these women a “Karen” which really means a bitch. The vast majority of us are kind but unfortunately this small group manages to cause a lot of drama.
We do try to encourage what our child gets correct and praise that but then maybe offer extra help or get a teacher to help or a tutor in the class our child is struggling in.
My Mom told me: If you can not find anything nice to say…
Say Nothing. That has been a good policy.
