A way that they can make this work is to say that Sonic dyed himself black and red, gave himself some new shoes and gloves, and put on some fake chest fur that he bought from the store. Could say it can be a disguise to find out about Eggman's, or Robotnik's plan

I really don’t understand all of these complaints about Shadow supposedly breaking the timeline. For one thing, it’ll probably just be a skin like LEGO Sonic. There’s no indication that his presence in Superstars will be canon in the slightest. Additionally, many of these complaints often come off as hypocritical due to the addition of modern Amy’s clothes, which again, have no indication of being canon. It’s okay to include references, under the condition that they’re fun and not just fan-service.

I think this would be a good thing. But it wouldn’t be canon to the timeline Unless Sonic Superstars happened after SA2 or Shadow The Hedgehog

It's all about brand. Sonic team doesn't really care about continuity. They care about satisfying everybody but not make them question things. That's how sonic team handles the series.

They were prety clear about it. Shadow is a modern character and he will never be in a clasic game.
