Actually curious. For bomber-delivered nuclear weapons, would they normally call out a countdown till detonation? Like _"Detonation in T-minus 60 seconds..."_ I vaguely remember hearing something like that with Little Boy and Fat Man. Or maybe its just a fabrication from movies and video games
Yes it's a real thing, it's used to give others time to gtfo asap. However, for a mission that would be most likely used nowadays, they will have just the bomber itself and the crew would probably talk locally or via ICS to each other but the comms/radios would be off. Its like with nuclear submarines given the final mark from the president, they get all the information and go silent/off the grid until the nuke is launched. They will resort to killing all who stand in the way to achieve it including allies.
They got to outrun the explosion, the little boy and fat man were because they needed to make sure they weren't duds, trinity worked, but many things could have happened on the way to Japan.

@@desolatortrooper7196 yeah, a few faulty wires, a circuit or two knocked out of place, the thing being assembled backwards. You may think it to be impossible just because it's a nuke, but there has been plenty of broken arrow incidents, one with the nuke being ready to strike when stopped by something as little as firing pins.
Gotta love when you are living through yet another significant historical event right now.

@@FDDFGGSHORTS The last nukes to go off will likely be those dropped from bombers. Nuclear bombers are still in use and are very important. Whiteman AFB in Missouri is home to the B2 nuclear stealth bombers, and a prime target for nuclear strikes because of that. Nuclear bombers are still capable of delivering nuclear strikes, stealth ones particularly so. The American Nuclear Triade is ICBMs, Nuclear Bombers, and Nuclear Subs. All three are important, as they all act as fail safes in case the others don't work or are taken out in the first strike. The Silos are based on the land, the bombers in the air, and submarines in the oceans. It's just not possible to wipe all of them out simultaneously.
And think about it, nuclear bombers are still effective. All the ICBMs that would have launched have already devastated the country in question, they won't have any AA left to shoot the bombers down. And if they do have AA guns left operational, I highly doubt there would be anyone still manning them. Even if the bombers were alone, somehow all the silos and subs were taken out before they could launch, all it takes is a handful of them to make it through the air defenses, drop their bombs, and the deed is done. Just shows that Mutually Assured Destruction is a very real thing.

A tactical strike is something used in battle rather than for example in a first strike scenario etc.
