Awesome that you guys got Joe on, he has obviously had his critics with the end of the DW era but he was a big part of the FO that kept us in contention for 20 years, appreciate everything he's doing with the Cuda. Going to be exciting to see them in the upcoming season when I visit my parents in the bay!

    Hey Boys,
Just a few thoughts about The Big Pavelski. From my perspective a case can be made that Pavelski is THE best Sharks draft pick ever in terms of both when he was drafted and how he wound up developing and ultimately how well he did in his career. There is something many are probably forgetting about Joe when the Sharks let him go and that is he was never fast but, at that point in his career he was becoming a defensively liability because of his lack of mobility. He was becoming synonymous with taking obstruction penalties because he just couldn't get where he needed to be all the time and it was really starting to rankle me that he was taking so many penalties it seemed like ever game he was taking penalties. It is probably unfair on my part to say that because I can't recall or quantify that memory but, I can tell you it was frequent enough that I was starting to get exasperated with one of my favorite Sharks all time which I do not say lightly. I have the utmost respect for Joe.
I do thinkt that there might be a case for Joe to be inducted into the HoF but, there is probably an equal case for leaving him out so as much as I hope he gets in his lack of NHL awards and Stanley Cup rings might keep him out. I do expect that after the Sharks retire Joe Thornton's number that Pav's will be next and deservedly so.
Lastly, I think there is also a case to be made that the Sharks have never had a better Captain which is saying something to my mind. A truly remarkable story. A remarkable career and by all appearances a remrkable person though obviously I have never met him so what do I know about him? hahaha
    Thanks again Boys,

Good interview. I’m glad you pressed Will on McCarthy a little bit. I’m not sure pointing to William Eklund (the only blue chip prospect to come through McCarthy) is really an example of a success story with player development…he was going to be a good player regardless of the AHL coaching staff.
I think there’s a stronger case for McCarthy if the Sharks could point to guys like Merkley, Wiesblatt, Weatherby, or Coe developing through their system 🤷‍♂️

Wait. Did I miss it or you didn't ask him about Coe or Robbins? Or even the reason why they weren't high on Ozzy, yet he played quite well in the Calder Cup

Todd Marchant talked about Coe in our summer interview with him, as his contract was up. We did ask Joe about Robins.

I'm Andy, but not Drexler. So y'all keep saying my name and I'm like "I am listening, but that's not me, unfortunately..."
