Robert, Cabrillo beach has lots of targets, mostly junk, but I can also say that I have found some very good stuff (if you know what I mean by good stuff) on the same 2 sites that you and your friend Alex were detecting, the best time to go to that beach is in the summer time, Beaucoup finds. Keep those vids coming.
I like it when I can beach detect while keeping my car in sight. Those shells on the rocks are oysters (Ostrea lurica) not scallops. The scallops are abundant in Mission Bay San Diego. Funny how you found all the stuff that Alex missed because he does the 'banana U' swing. 🤪
Turn down sensitivity, turn up volume on iron numbers, hunt with iron on. Then if you hear the grunts, you may be digging iron. My minelab always gives iron a high squeak. Hate that.
I don't like the sound of that when you said "A fishing hook sounding like a quarter. The detector shouldn't do that. Must be something wrong!! A fish hook should only make a grunt!

You should go over all of Alex area he does , he has terrible coil swinging technique! He swings his coil way to high off the ground !
