Nice video Dan. Tagaytay is nice and a place we had considered but eventually chose the City of San Fernando about an hour north of Manila. They say our province (Pampanga) is the culinary capital of the Philippines and I don't think we could have chosen a better location to live. We are kind of central and not that far from places like Subic Bay, Zambales, Baguio, ... and a little further a place I've always wanted to visit, ... Ilocos Norte with Saud Beach as well as the Blue Lagoon. As an afterthought check my last few videos if you would like to see a bit about our home at San Fernando.

Hey guys, ive been following you for a while, and i must say your vlogs are very informative in terms of living expense in a certain area. In terms.of leisure, i enjoy your pace, very relaxed, and youre not expecting too much in the places youve been visiting, which is the right way to approach travelling. Its less disappointing and more enjoying! Great job guys !
We have an AIRBNB there, a condo and our own house is being built this year. It's a delightful place to retire as it has everything you need, including the relatively cooler climate. IMO it's getting busier and busier and at weekends the roads a re-routed to a one way system. At the weekends the tourists from Metro Manila flood in so do your business during the week. We're told that even if Taal Volcano blows the inconvenience would be weeks not years but the jury is out on that one ! lol

Tagaytay = "Ta - gai - tai." One of my favorite places in the Philippines. "Bueller?" "Bueller?" "Bueller?" ..... (From "Ferris Bueller's Day Off," a CLASSIC. One of my favorite movies back in the 80s. John Hughes, R.I.P.) ..... Nice haircut, btw. IMPORTANT REMINDER: Although Tagaytay is an elevated area, with its very cool climate, it is very nearby Taal Volcano. Taal is one of the most active volcanoes in the World. All you expats might want to consider THAT, first, before making a final decision to actually live in Tagaytay or not.
You would think with all his travels he would use proper pronunciation when making a video to be taken seriously. And you are correct about the volcano it is extremely active.
Qiang is so funny, she reminds me of many Malaysian friends I have known over the years (guys and gals) who are very frugal. I can relate… as a kiam siap ang moh!

Great question Mike Lambert, I have one report where I explain what I do about health care and another where I show you how I search for health insurance. What I do about health care: vagabondbuddha.com/two-biggest-risks-of-retiring-early-overseas/ Report where I search for health insurance: vagabondbuddha.com/best-health-insurance-for-ex-pats-in-philippines/ By the way, once you search for health care you will start seeing more offers for health insurance and travelers insurance when you are online. Health insurance is one of the most dynamic or changing industries in the travel world because so many people around the world are deciding to live or retire outside their home country. So do a search every year before you renew to make sure you have the best available for your personal circumstances because new ones come out every few months. Thanks for asking so I could answer this for many people! Dan
@@VagabondAwake Thank you very much Dan. Very illuminating. Those quotes look far more reasonable than what I was quoted by Blue Cross in Manila a few years ago!

Pretty place in tagaytay 👍👍
Phils. has an affordable cost of living (if you live like the locals, wise budgeting on food, health care, transportation & utilities), 200-300$ monthly rent for a fully furnished apartment or condo as your homebase in Las Pinas, Metro Manila with a minimum contract of 3 mos and in Alabang Muntinlupa, M.M. for a minimum contract of 6 mos.
take note: the longer you stay then you will get a better deal.
Hey Contentment In Solitude, thanks for sharing this tip with us. I appreciate these kinds of ideas. Thanks for commenting too. When people comment, our videos are suggested to more people. So thank you so much! Best, Dan
I’ve been waiting for this video! Thank you :) You both look so refreshed and happy, the Philippines looks good on both of you. Do you see many bookstores and/or libraries in the Philippines?
Thank you so much Lori ❤😊

Fully Booked is the bookstore to go to in the Philippines. They have branches all over. And they have a website where you can purchase and have it delivered to your home.
You can't believe a word Qiang says!!!! She is too sweet to ever say a bad word about anything!!! She is also very beautiful, smart, fun and so nice with a great personality!!

Thanks for your thoughts Tim. :-)
San fernando is good I would say. It’s also near Clark where the next business development would be focused in the coming years
@@chillax9184 very true. I find San Fernando a terrific city and central Luzon a really nice area to call home.
@@timsretirementjourney8323 ... man,you picked the right area too,cuz once they've done building clark green city you aren't far from it ....... clark green city is like bgc,but they said it's much bigger .....
Thanks for posting this video. I had been curious about Tagaytay for quite a while. The climate there is supposed to be almost perfect. I was wondering about prices, your video answers many of my questions.

Have you had any thoughts of taking a trip around Mindoro? Road less traveled there, but some beautiful scenery!
Of course. Stay tuned.
Not Bad !!!
Nice view for sure.
Great suggestion!
Your hair was cut a little short, but you are so beautiful that it does not matter.
Thank you so much Mike ❤😊
We have an AIRBNB there, a condo and our own house is being built this year. It's a delightful place to retire as it has everything you need, including the relatively cooler climate. IMO it's getting busier and busier and at weekends the roads a re-routed to a one way system. At the weekends the tourists from Metro Manila flood in so do your business during the week. We're told that even if Taal Volcano blows the inconvenience would be weeks not years but the jury is out on that one ! lol

Have you guys explored a place called Antipolo City? It's a city in the mountains like Tagatay City, but very near the (eastern?) boundary of the Metro Manila area.
Hello again..its nice to see you strollin around tagaytay..the advantage of Qiang is her asian palate..thats why she can appreciate foods in the philippines although some are really not that healthy but very delicious..like the marrow she likes it.haha its better with fish or soy sauce and calamansi( local lemon ) and some chilies…keep vloggin guys..😋🙂🍻 By the way dont worry about your haircut Qiang..the bangs looks good on you! Besides its very asian style haha enjoy!😊
Hi Victor Alcantara, Thanks for sharing your thoughts on this. Best, Dan
Thanks Dan and Qiang for appreciating our country…and also by promoting the beauty of it! Hope to see more of you here in the PH Islands… stay happy and have more fun guys!🙌😉🏝🍻
Beautiful House in tagaytay 👍👍
Qiang- even if you didn’t have any hair, you would still look fabulous darling!
You are so lovely Pamela ❤😊
Sir , Mam would you like to visit Tagaytay Highland u will love it there.
Maybe one day!
Chang wears different dresses and skirts on each episode. Does she buy new clothes and then give them away when she leaves a country? Or she keeps them all and mail it home? Love her wrap around skirt on this episode!

@@Falconlibrary It's not "Tu," but "Ta."
@@Falconlibrary My real name is Adam but some Pinoys call me "A-damn" doesn't make it right.

Qiang is so funny, she reminds me of many Malaysian friends I have known over the years (guys and gals) who are very frugal. I can relate… as a kiam siap ang moh!
Wow… beef bulalo…impressive..
It looked like the apartment that you were staying in had everything you need. You say that a western style apartment would cost more. Can you tell me what a western style apartment would have that your apartment doesn't? Thanks.
The place we stayed was pretty much western style, just a little dated. :-)
Tagaytay (Ta-Guy-Tie) looks awesome. Dan, I thought you saw a Ferrari that’s why you were saying “Ferris Bueller”😂. Stay and safe and have fun🙏🏼
I loved that movie Gil.
@@VagabondAwake Ditto.
Dude
I got a text yesterday from an American in philippines
He told me that gasoline is now 88 pesos per liter
That's 6.70 us dollars per us gallon
That's a days salary for many Filipinos!
I'll stay where I'm at $2.60 a gallon for 92 octane
ok. Thanks for watching.
No mention of health insurance? That's a really big issue for anyone considering retiring there.
Great question Mike Lambert, I have one report where I explain what I do about health care and another where I show you how I search for health insurance.
What I do about health care: vagabondbuddha.com/two-biggest-risks-of-retiring-early-overseas/
Report where I search for health insurance: vagabondbuddha.com/best-health-insurance-for-ex-pats-in-philippines/
By the way, once you search for health care you will start seeing more offers for health insurance and travelers insurance when you are online.
So about $1000 a month if you factor in visa renewal fees. I’ve just checked Air BnB and there’s quite a few options around the $500 a month mark all in and you aren’t committed to a tenancy agreement
In Mactan Cebu, i was able to get a 210$ a month fully furnished airbnb studio condo just few meters from the beaches , restaurants, 7-11, supermarket and about 5 -8 mins to the international airport.
@@nikita5662 I stayed in Mactan Newtown in March and couldn’t find anything there under $40 a night on Air BNB. On long term there was nothing around there under $600 a month.
@@nomadinthemaking i stayed there 2 months ago. The condo complex is called bayanihan flats. Along pajac-maribago road near Jpark resort. Search it by map location and zoom in that area so it shows. Try monthly stay. You may also check your filter make sure they are all off coz when i booked that unit it has no review yet and host not verified.

@@VagabondAwake 100% agree wouldn’t book a month in somewhere I’ve never been. As a general rule when I first arrive somewhere I’ve not been before I’d only book 1 night perhaps two if it’s Air BnB.
