There are plenty of vegetarian dishes you can have like ginatang kalabasa ( squash with coconut milk), ginatang langka ( green jackfruit with coconut milk), pinakbet ( okra, bitter melon, eggplant, string beans n squash usually with shrimp paste but they can cook it without it), adobong talong ( fried eggplant with garlic, soy sauce n vinegar). There are so much more. Sorry to bombard with you with all these vegetarian dishes. Btw..:Qiang’s short bangs looks good on her. You2 looks like you’re having a good time in the 🇵🇭 Take care.

    Your right Dan, that hot pot made for some interesting shots... So unusual... Chung could barely fit...
    The drone work was great, it really showed off the spectacular lake view...
    Living in New York City, I seen that hair cut on many models... Lets face it, the designers want to show off their latest designs, they don't want to compete with the models beauty, so they choose the model with the most plain Jane look, the hair style helps with that imagery... Sorry Chung obviously you experienced this problem before in your previous career...
    About your budget, seems you two could just about live anywhere... You are survivalist on a global scale... We the public could learn many ways to stretch one's budget... That's a good thing...

    Bag of beans is a delicious place to eat! My filipina wife and I have been to Tagaytay twice and had bad luck there for some reason. We stayed at Crosswinds Resorts and our second trip we stayed at View Park hotel. Both hotels are haunted believe it or not. My wife and I both didn’t feel well during our stays and had a very eerie feeling with strange things happening during both our trips. Beautiful views in Tagaytay but weekends there are very crowded with locals, highly recommend staying thru the weekdays. Our last trip there Taal valcano erupted a week after our stay so living there could be a little dangerous to say the least.

    1000$ a month for two people food, accommodation, utilities and transpo is slightly above middle class living in the philippines. In fact, You can get a decent fully furnished studio airbnb condo that includes ulitlies, wifi and weekly cleaning service for 300$ a month so you have 700$ for foods and transpo. 100$ a month for food per person is considered decent.

    My GF and I stayed there in 2019 for 5 days. We rented a condo overlooking Taal Lake close to the Amusement Park. The weather was nice but still alittle hot and the view over the lake was fantastic. However where we stayed there was not much to do and became boring quickly. About 4 months later the Taale Lake Volcanoe erupted killing many people and livestock. Because of the active volcano I would not want to live there myself but many people do. It was a beautiful place when visited but I did not know how deadly it could be until later.

    Beef marrow is one of the best taste there is. Just like silk in texture and the finest steak in flavor! That made me drool! 🤤
    Travel to Manilla would be required at least 4 times a month for me. No need for alcohol, but entertainment cost would likely be higher, and I would prefer a western style apartment, so I should be able to manage everything for $2000 per month.

    Nice video Dan. Tagaytay is nice and a place we had considered but eventually chose the City of San Fernando about an hour north of Manila. They say our province (Pampanga) is the culinary capital of the Philippines and I don't think we could have chosen a better location to live. We are kind of central and not that far from places like Subic Bay, Zambales, Baguio, ... and a little further a place I've always wanted to visit, ... Ilocos Norte with Saud Beach as well as the Blue Lagoon. As an afterthought check my last few videos if you would like to see a bit about our home at San Fernando.

In terms.of leisure, i enjoy your pace, very relaxed, and youre not expecting too much in the places youve been visiting, which is the right way to approach travelling. We have an AIRBNB there, a condo and our own house is being built this year. It's a delightful place to retire as it has everything you need, including the relatively cooler climate. IMO it's getting busier and busier and at weekends the roads a re-routed to a one way system. At the weekends the tourists from Metro Manila flood in so do your business during the week. We're told that even if Taal Volcano blows the inconvenience would be weeks not years but the jury is out on that one ! lol

    Tagaytay = "Ta - gai - tai." One of my favorite places in the Philippines. "Bueller?" "Bueller?" "Bueller?" ..... (From "Ferris Bueller's Day Off," a CLASSIC. One of my favorite movies back in the 80s. John Hughes, R.I.P.) ..... Nice haircut, btw. IMPORTANT REMINDER: Although Tagaytay is an elevated area, with its very cool climate, it is very nearby Taal Volcano. Taal is one of the most active volcanoes in the World. All you expats might want to consider THAT, first, before making a final decision to actually live in Tagaytay or not.

    No mention of health insurance? That's a really big issue for anyone considering retiring there.

    • @VagabondAwake
      @VagabondAwake  2 года назад +1

      Great question Mike Lambert, I have one report where I explain what I do about health care and another where I show you how I search for health insurance.
      What I do about health care: vagabondbuddha.com/two-biggest-risks-of-retiring-early-overseas/
      Report where I search for health insurance: vagabondbuddha.com/best-health-insurance-for-ex-pats-in-philippines/
      By the way, once you search for health care you will start seeing more offers for health insurance and travelers insurance when you are online. Health insurance is one of the most dynamic or changing industries in the travel world because so many people around the world are deciding to live or retire outside their home country. So do a search every year before you renew to make sure you have the best available for your personal circumstances because new ones come out every few months. Thanks for asking so I could answer this for many people! Dan
