I heard about P. Bergeron being 100% class act asking about Tage Thompson's wife who has/had a medical condition. Not necessarily a hockey play, but definitely a hat pick!
Before the ceremony, I had never even heard of Borje Salming. Now, I couldn't be happier of his accomplishments and his dedication being officially recognized. #goleafsgo Also: Pyotr Koochie
Salming was a part of the Leafs teams that got screwed by the NHL in 74 and 75. There were better refs at Steeler's football games back then. Come to think of it, both of those teams won for the same reason. " thanks ref "
For the first time a hatpick brought me to tears. The tribute to a great hockey pioneer from my fatherland was glorious to behold. I'm 67 now. I was born in the US but got to visit Sweden when I was a college freshman. It was overwhelming and I fell in love with that land where my grandparents were born. Thank you for choosing that event!
Pyotr Kochetkov really should be a mainstay in the NHL for Carolina, his poise and confidence are off the charts and he's so fun and unpredictable to watch (in a good way!) He's got a great career in front of him!
Goaltending used to be our downfall in the Ward and Darling eras, I think now we’ve overcompensated and made sure that even our third string goalie is amazing.
"On Leon Draisaitl? IN THIS ECONOMY!?" That had me laughing harder than I should have, well played 😂 EDIT: Concerning Salming, it might be too late for him at this point, but for future victims of ALS, there's a LOT of help coming. Research is doing great in that field. Some of my colleagues are working on it, there is yet hope!
My favorite part about Pyotr is the opposing broadcasters have absolutely no idea about how good he actually is and the same argument has been used three times now on opposing teams getting back into games against him. "He's a young goalie you have to make him make rookie mistakes". The kid was AHL player of the month 3 times in 5 months
as a Swede it never gets easier to watch the celebration for Börje however many times you watch it, a legend on and off ice. also huge props for the leafs running all Swedish to start the game. and while it is sad to see such a legend in this condition we will always remember the highlights. also all the love to his family and friends.
Perfect #1 hat pick. Borje's dedication was the stuff of legend. Kudos to you guys. Remind me, did Makar's ricochet of the glass make last week's hat picks?
Really strong week this time around, but I would've thrown in the fact that Andrei Svechnikov already has two hat tricks on the season, both of which have come against the Oilers.
I THINK (idk for sure) that the producer edited out the clip so we wouldn't here what he called the play, or they forgot to edit in the clip of the producer saying it himself
I remember watching Salming as a kid but didn't appreciate everything he had accomplished. Very fitting that this ceremony coincides with Alfie and the Sedins being named to the HHOF, showing what an impact he's had on Swedes in the NHL.
@@lukejohnson29 did also play the Stanley cup finalists and 2 time in the last 2 year stanley cup winning team sooo give him some slack. Also played in Toronto
As a Swede watching that Börje Salming tribute was emotional to say the least. Really cool that Nylander and Ekman-Larsson were the players that was there for the puck drop and the fact that the Leafs decided to run with a full Swedish line to honor him! He's a true legend of the game and a inspiration to everyone that is trying to make it when others doubt you
I got 2 hat picks you missed. 1. Bradyn Schenn’s sliding save against the red hot Vegas Golden Knights. 2. Again with the St. Louis Blues defending a 6 on 3 for the final minute of the 3rd period to secure the W against the Colorado Avalanche and in the midst of this 6 on 3 Jordan Binnington makes an incredible save against Cale Makar.
I know there were already 2 Hat Picks from the Carolina Edmonton game, but I wish there was more mention of Svechnikov's 2 hat tricks in as many games against them
While my dad was still with us he used to say every Saturday night the Leafs were playing, that Borje is the most Canadian hockey dad playing! He looks at you with that face that speaks of utter disappointment. Great hockey guy, both him and my dad. Bravo to the Leafs.
@SPORTSNET When are we getting the old format of Hat-Picks with the occasionally Oilers fan Steve at the office? The Blue Room ones are fine, but I need nostalgia
Nothing for the passing of Peter McNab? A staple of the Avalanche community for its entire existence. A hall of famer. A legendary broadcaster. RIP, Maxy.
They are better at hockey than you are with words, many, many people agree. Thanks for what you do, getting highlights, advancing the game, keeping us up to date.
Might show up in Dang Its but Cole Koepke from TB getting his first NHL goal that wasn't called at first, TB scoring moments later but after review Koepkes goal was announced.
Against the Avs, as well, I don’t know if it’s a Hat Pick for the Blues, or a Dang-It for Colorado, but: With 2:01 to go, Justin Faulk trips Josh Manson…sending the Avs on a power play down 1. 17 seconds later, Pavel Buchnevich sends the puck over the glass for another penalty…giving the Avs a 2-man advantage (5-on-3). About 30 seconds into the 5-on-3, they also pull Alexandr Georgiev to make it 6 skaters versus 3 and a goalie. The Avs failed to score and didn’t get a shot on goal after Georgiev was pulled.
The reason why I think that was a Hat pick was it's not luck when he is practice those types of moves maybe not initially like that but you know what hard they Try.Thanks again JAMES love the Show
Steve are you going to put McDavid in the Dang-it's for his defensive performance against the Canes? I believe he has been on the Ice for almost all of the Canes goals this year.
Still upset that Steve didnt include rantanens global series Hatrick in Finland (with crowd chanting his name) this weeks or last weeks hatpicks. Cant include it next week cuz that would Be weird to include plays from 3 week ago. This is biggest dang-it of the season yet
Hi Steve, we are big fans here in Oregon, one of the cats is even named after you, Pilott Steve. BUT, we are from Colorado and huge Avs fans (what's up producer Drew!!) I think Peter McNabb deserves a hat pick. Hopefully you can spread the word about him. He was a great man.
Steve, I know you may not like the stars however they’re a pretty good team this year, and you’ve missed a lot of hat pick plays from them, I do enjoy these videos and I would enjoy even further to see my team in them more, Jamie Ben, to name just one is absolutely explosive right now and has even had a hat trick and almost another one the following game, I forgot which games but they were 1-2 weeks back, thanks and love the videos.
Binnington save was a hat pick, not luck. For one, he got himself into a position to cover as much net as possible even if he didn't know where the puck was, and two, he did eventually find the puck right before the shot. Good work from a goalie I can't stand.
