    Betty Grable was a favorite since I was a little girl. Beautiful good actress dancer and singer - wish she’d done more dramas because she could act 😂

    As usual, Betty Grable could light up any screen with her beauty and talent....she was underrated as a singer, and she had overall abilities to act, sing and dance for many years making a lot of money for 20th Century Fox. In this scene, the bonus of her co-worker, Iris Adrian, lends her fast talking comedy to it. Great upload, thanks!

    Personally, I absolutely love Betty's rendition of the song she's just so darn cute and the song fits her!
    Thank you very much for posting this.

    OH my god, I just saw a documentary where Celeste Holm says Marilyn Monroe watched Betty's movies over and over and if you watch closely, you'll see that she was mimicking her in a lot of the scenes. And I can completely see it now.

    as wonderful as Betty is, singing "Daddy" here--it cannot be found on any of her music cds--or on iTunes--a real shame--it's pretty terrific...

    From 2:48 you Can see how she and marilyn shared the exact same facial expressions. And since marilyn saw her movies over and over again. She must've had that from her

    @geleez1234 Yeah, it's not in the same 'mood' as the rest of the picture... that IS why it was removed.

  • @bostonblakie
    @bostonblakie 11 лет назад +2

    I recall seeing the movie on TV (TCM?) some time ago with this scene included. I think it added just a dash of quirky off topic mood to the overall atmosphere and actually improved the picture. I wish these people would just keep their hands off the original production while imposing their own criteria which was not intended by the original creators.

    I can see why they cut this scene. It’s a catchy song but it didn’t fit the rest of the movies dark vibe at all.

    Sammy Kaye had the hit.

      She was Alice Faye’s co-star and “successor” after Faye “dropped out” of show business to raise her family. They were good friends, too. Both nice people.

    This song, maybe this exact version, was used by Chuck Jones in his cartoon "Red Hot Riding Hood". Apparently that version caused a little kerfuffle with the censors.

    I love this song-I know it came out in 1941-is that when this film is from? The two versions I like are by Dinah Shore and I cant recall if its Sammy Kaye or Freddy Martin-one way or the other I like it!

    Adjusted for inflation 35 Cents in 1941 is equal to $6.38 in 2020.

      I like the remake of this film - Vicki - very much; far more to the point. But I can just picture Jeanne Crain attempting something like this!

    • @ricardocantoral7672
      @ricardocantoral7672 Год назад

      @@alger3041 Yes, I also think that Vicki was "more to the point". The comedy was toned down and the casting was far more down to earth. I would say one downside is the cinematography is not nearly as striking.

      Figure in inflation, still it would be less than $5.00 in todays money.
