The Tagaloa family were the original rulers of the Samoa-atoa Empire (founded by Melanesians), and that's why the Pili family were all over the Pacific, to maintain their resources, lands, titles, and the people. Over the centuries, many Hawaiian monarchs and royals have been asked to confirm the origination of the Hawaiian people; those royals always confirmed...S...A..M...O...A. Even the last reigning king of Hawaii was asked, by many writers and authors in his royal court including the famed Robert Louis Stevenson, about the origination of the Hawaiian people. As it is written, from King Kalakaua's very own words, we come from "Samoa". That's the royal family from all those chiefs and kings before Kamehameha's line, right down to the very last rulers - King Kalakaua and then his sister, the Queen Liliuokalani. All of them descended from the lineage of Pili in your story. One of my Hawaiian ancestors sailed to Samoa, to fight under the banner of Malietoa Vaiinuupo during their war with the Aana district (due to the killing of Tamafaiga), right before the arrival of John Williams. He was the Royal Governor of Oahu, as appointed directly by King Kamehameha 1st himself. Hawaii had just come through a barbaric unification civil war, while Samoa was going through another brutal civil war in the 1790s. The two kings (King Kamehameha and King Malietoa) and their families were always related, therefore they were ancient allies through their family ties, but later westernized / modernized by the two families under "The Polynesian Confederation" agreement, during the reign of King Kalakaua; this threatened the American empire expansion agenda, their corporate greed for more Hawaiian lands, and their missionaries' desire to westernized the people by influencing their chiefs and kings to have people abandon their ancient practices. My ancestor was known by many names, but the name that King Kamehameha called him by was Poki (meaning Boss in Hawaiian), and that was the name he was commonly known - Poki. In our Samoa specific lingua franca, it was Pogi. My Pogi family still lives in Samoa, with our blood ties to the ruling families of Hawaii confirmed through several sources, including DNA, and it all started with the Pili family. Didn't mean for this to be long, but this Pili family is my family - o Kanaka Samoa.
