The 35DC was the first 35mm camera I got after starting to shoot film again, and I keep going back to it. Such a nice, uncomplicated and beautiful camera. Had the SP too but I preferred the DC.
I’ve been wanting to get into film for a while now and I’ve been going through eBay and RUclips videos back and forth. I found this camera and you’ve convinced me, small and simple.
my grandpa bought that camera for my mom when he went to a trip to japan, then she gave it to me and it stayed a rlly long time in my nightstand as decoration bc i was too young to understand it, i’m rlly glad i saw this video, i can’t wait to use it! 💌
Old cameras are literally built like a tank. I used to play with Yashica 35, not knowing it is still functional. My cousin probably has it somewhere with her other toys.
Just shot with this camera for the first time. Haven't developed the negatives yet, but really looking forward to seeing them after watching this. Great Video
What you said about its size is really making me consider getting one now. I mean I'm using a Pentax Spotmatic so it's not like I use a beast like Pentax 6x7, but getting a more compact point and shoot is def something I should consider
The only rangefinder I own is the Olympus XA but this video has definitely got me interested in a 35 with a random combo of letters behind it! Haha. Nice video and your production quality is getting to be top notch!
Cool little camera you have there. Thanks for sharing. You should check out the Olympus Trip 35 i have one and it is such a great camera. It is as this one fully automatic but the trip 35 doesnt requier any battery at all. It is a really interesting camera to take a look and also very cheap.
I've got one of Joe's buttons in my grandma's closet if you're still on the hunt for one. Tidy camera though, looks like a great option for a lot of people.
Great review 👍 Please tell where is the light meter in this camera? In the body or in the lens? This is important to understand for filming with filters. Thanks 🙏 and look forward to new reviews and videos from you
How the F*** did I miss this video?? Anyway, about a month ago I bought an Olympus 35RC, and that's the first time that I have fully manual yet pocketable camera in over 40 years. I paid only about €60 for it what's fair course it's partly broken (still works quite fine), what's to be expected since it came from Bosnia 🤣 Keep the good work...
I've heard that it is hard to get the two images to line up within the viewfinder for beginners. Do you think that is something you struggled with? Thank you!
I assume since it's a year + on from this comment you have resolved this already, but very generally speaking yeah shooting in reasonably bright light would be easiest. Depends on ISO of the film, think the smallest max aperture is f2.8 on this series (and up to f1.7) so some indoors is doable on like 800 iso, but probably good to shoot with decent natural light if you're not sure.
Love that hobo strap on your olympus. I have a Minolta Hi-Matic F, also a nice automatic rangefinder but I think I will switch to an Olympus 35 RC because sometimes I want that manual mode 😅
For me, it’s a not a replacement because I’m not a huge rangefinder guy. I’ll shoot more serious work on the ae-1 and use the Olympus to just bring out on the boat or on a hike.
@@BraeHunziker that is a really good point actually. Speaking of cameras have you ever heard of the fuji ga645 👀 might be interesting for you to try it. Essentially a point and shoot medium format camera!!
No, and no one familiar with either camera would. The A-1 is a full sized SLR with a mass of accessories and interchangeable lenses. It runs from manual to fully automatic exposure and may the best single SLR Canon ever made. The EC is a compact fixed lens rangefinder with an "adequate" lens, fully automatic and no manual control of exposure. The only thing the two camera have in common is that they both take 35mm film.
I always liked the 35 series. But ive always prefered the canon canonet series over the olympus. I think they are much sharper, especially my 1.7 giii. The canonet i spoke of is a bit more expensive, but I think its well worth the extra money
@@BraeHunziker the light meter recently stopped working on mine and i still love to shoot with it. It is my tote around camera, so i was liking the shutter priority mode. Almost using it like a point and shoot. Ive just been shooting sunny 16 with it with good results. You dont even need a battery for the camera to operate normally as well. Super sharp little camera. You should check one out if you ever get the chance
Among the Oly versions mentioned here is the 35RD. It is nearly a dead ringer for the Canon QL17 GIII in terms of features, camera operation and lens quality. These two cameras are hands down the compact fixed lens cameras with the best lenses ever made. Unhappily for a would be buyer, the 35RD is even more expensive than the Canon, probably because there are not nearly as many of them out there.
If your not able to advance the lever ( assuming you’re in A mode) it’s because the light meter suspects it’s not exposed correctly. Just correct the aperture and it should unlock itself to allow you to advance and shoot. OR it could be that you have it turned to Off position on the ring.
Just started watching your channel pretty recently and love the vibes and the content! Live in the PDX area and would love to collab when things are back to normal! Instagram @jaren.kerr & @jarenkerr
Great pics! I also love how the boat scenes look like. The skin color and blue colors are amazing. Could you tell me which camera/picture mode you're using, and if you're using a lut or not? Thx!
I love how the final verdict of the camera was that it takes photos
the colour grading in this video is so nice, reminds of 60s/70's

Nice! Great camera.
I barely have one camera, he's out there with a camera for every season.
Hahah must stay prepared
One is all you need!
This is the same reason I love the Olympus OM10. Aperture priority makes it so painless to shoot anything
It’s very ideal
Dangerous games with that self timer
More dangerous games with the hard seltzer and boating…😳

Thank you tho!
Nice. Catching up on your videos since I found your channel.
I just purchased one, and I cant wait to use it! But what battery does it uses?
One PX-625, PX-13 or EPX-625 mercury battery

How many Whiteclaws were consumed in the making of this video?
3 give or take 5
I loved the colors of the video itself, do you use a particular LUT or preset??
I wanna say the lut used on this was called f-6800 or something.
Brae Hunziker thankss soo much! Your content is amazing 🤟🏼

You’re such a donny mate I acc love your videos, glad I found you
Haha thank you! 👊🏻
I really like how you color grade your videos.

lol -- the button for Joe Greer's shirt. he love's that lowwww neckline

Love the video! Was hoping to catch a sketch on this one tho🥺😂
Haha the skits might become the signature play. Probably ever other video or something like that 👍🏻
love it by the way why your greens so disaturated and dark
Hi! Thinking of buying a rangefinder camera. Which one would you recommend Olympus 35 DC or Canon Canonet QL17? Thank you!
I haven’t used the canon before so not sure I can recommend one or the other
Try the yashica elctro 35, you might like it too
I’ve heard great things! Would love to try one day.
I picked up a rollei 35 for $100 and it’s pretty cool. Don’t think I need it though
My dad has always wanted one of those! Seems like a fun camera.
hey, i just wonder do you only shot this on bright / sunny background? since it has no flash right? unless i buy one?
I assume since it's a year + on from this comment you have resolved this already, but very generally speaking yeah shooting in reasonably bright light would be easiest. Can't use a shoelace my dude, that's what's holding up my pants.
do you use 1.5 v battery?

Yeah the 35 RC is great!
Would you say it's a solid replacement to the Canon A1? I know you usually use the ae1 right?

What filter or editing did you use on the actual video clips on the boat in this? (love it)
I color correct in premiere pro’s lumetri color!
@@BraeHunziker thank you so much!!!
While shooting this, do you used flash for the camera?
Nope
this is basically a whiteclaw ad xD
RIP OLYMPUS’ time in the camera market...
For real... end of an era
RIP Olympus Cameras
what camera did u film with on the boat?
GH5s
@@BraeHunziker It was a beautiful grade. Did you use some specific luts?
What drone do you use?
Mavic pro
Good video! 😅
Thank you!
where do you get a battery for it?
I got one at Walgreens
How would this fare with cinestill 800t type of pictures?
Would be fine
But would the camera try to overexpose the dark night shots and make it more noisy?
In regards to night photography you'd fair better with 35RC which has fully manual mode.
Mine keep getting stuck I’m going to get it fix soon hopefully
The film gets stuck?
Brae Hunziker like the shutter wouldn't go all the way to slide the film sometimes .

So it's basically like Rollei XF 35 only with difference that Rollei has super sharp Zeiss Sonnar Lens and is smaller than Olympus.
I have a unit 35 dc selling ryt now
Perfect summer camera = Nikonos V
I have one of the buttons, wanna buy it ;-)
Please!

Well all the photos were shot on the Olympus shown in the video on colorplus 200 film, no luts. Video was on a gh5s and color corrected in premiere.
