Great decision ! It depends on your variant too . Those from the Asus and MSI camp are consistently beating the foundation ver of 3090 . I am using a 3090 at work (gotta put all that giant vram at work ) and a 3080ti for gaming . My 3080ti Asus strix is consistently outperforming my 3090 by a few fps .

I snagged my 3080 TI after camping out at Best buy for launch day for $1,280 after tax. Absolutely love it but it was hell to get it. My buddy and I were two spots in line away from not getting a card after driving 6 hours and staying up for over 24.
I got the 3080 tuf for 700 at microcenter 3mi from me. At one point they were going for 2500... I thought about scalping so many times, couldn't bring myself to do it. Now I alternate between being proud about it and kicking myself 🙃

There are plenty of those comparisons. This is the one that matters to people with the 3080ti. I just got one at msrp. This is the comparison I wanted to see. I basically got a 3090 for 300$ cheaper. I’m happy.
*FACEPALM* Some games use over 12 GB of VRAM at 4k. Trust me on this. Go check Crysis Remastered, Call of Duty Warzone, Resident Evil Village. RTX 3080 Ti should be good for 1080p gaming due to the small amount of VRAM, but if you plan to play on 4k then go for the 3090.
Because they have chips that cant quite make the cut for the 3090 so instead of turning them into 3080's which sell for less they use them in a slightly better card so they can charge more money for it.

I have a tendency to never buy used pc parts (unless it’s a case or fans). These parts are too delicate and you never know what idiot used them. It can look totally fine like when you’re testing the part, they could just lower the frequency if it gets too hot etc. if the CPU was handled properly it’ll still have a long lifetime, even if it ran 24/7, but you can forget identifying proper usage.
Kids and their parents have no idea. When I was a kid a thousand dollars got you a titan and it was unheard of. Everyone wanted the 900 series and they were like 4 to 500 dollars. Wow that 1 or 2 frames per second really makes it worth the 300 to 400 dollars extra huh? I was looking over many benchmark videos to see which I should get, a 3080 12 GB, 3080 Ti or 3090 to see if the higher cards were worth the extra money and with the 3080 Ti I would say yes because you get 1280 more cores and about a 10% performance increase over the 3080 12 GB at almost identical power usage but I see barely any improvement over the 3080 Ti with the 3090. BTW, if you're wondering why I didn't consider the cheaper 3080 10 GB it's because I don't want to run out of VRAM while gaming at 4K with ultra settings and my current card already peaks at 10.2 GB of VRAM usage. They should have never given the 3080 only 10 GB memory and made it a 12 GB card from the start.
@@ArmadaOne I decided the same, the 3080 Ti is practically a 3090 with 12GB of memory. Plus getting a model with a decent cooler and VRM lets it boost like crazy, I'm running mine at 1980 MHz even undervolted.

I’m even surprised to see there is even a 1 FPS difference, the 3080ti is basically a 3090 with half the vram. Most games don’t even use more than 6 gb of vram .

Trying to decide if I should take the 3090 out of my gaming PC and swap it with the 3080Ti in my mining rig. I'd lose a few frames but gain an extra $4 a day. I hate this LHR bullshit.
3080 ti makes no sense for the cost ... Any sensible person would just try to get a vanilla 3080 for MSRP or just go all the way and get a 3090 for the 24GB of video memory.

Same performance, half the memory and hundreds of dollars more expensive, I say go for the 3080 Ti if you want competitive gaming and go for the 3090 if you want to maximice gaming for years to come and need to use it for game development, fly simulator or something else that requires massive virtual graphic memory, but if you just want good performance for cheaper go for the 3080 Ti, 3090 is more such a niche audience.

Depends. i bought a TI but that's because I have a sff case that would allow me to run the 3090 but the heat build up in the case would be less than ideal. Just buy what you can afford and meets your needs.

Gamer and AI developer here: If you wanna make a buy because of ML/Deep Learning and you aren't batshit crazy (with memory management) then 3080ti is still worth it.
For price and performance, i would go with the 3080 TI, the problem is the VRAM. 12 GB may be ok righ now but in a couple of years it will get very short. That's the only reason i'm going for the 3090, i want to have a PC that last for a few years without running short.
I saw that on a gpu benchmark website (that one known one that hase cpu benchmarks too) the 3080 Ti had a slightly better score. Maybe those 70 degrees are slightly throttling the GPU?
Its nice to see what next few gpu versions will be able to do at a much lower tdp, cause above 320w is crazy to me so i'll wait till 40 series or 50 series and prob stop buying the x80 cards in each series and drop that to the x70 cards so 4070 or 5070, the 2080 will hold me out for a while yet
The performance gap between 3080TI and 3090 is equivalent to the gap between 2060S and 2070, and it can also be equivalent to the gap between 2070S and 2080
I think the future proof of the 3090 outweighs the 3080TI. With that 24 GB of GGD6X memory compared to the 12 on the TI. Most of these new games are going to be dropping 10 to 13 in the next 2 years thus the 3090 having that extra 12 will really set it self up for 5 to 7 years. Many games will never utilize that. The fact that most of these games run at 70-80 fps max on a top of the end 1500 usd card at 4k. Games are insanely demanding now and non of these will run on 1660 super at 1080p max.
Bruh look at the vram… 3090 isn’t just for gaming but for more other demanding stuff too. As a matter of fact, look at the temps and the usage 3090 is throwing at the cpu. 3090 is more efficient and will have a longer life. Quality is not always determined by FPS.
Many people told me to buy 3080ti instead of 3090 because it performs the same with less cost, but I knew I was making the right decision with 3090 and I was right! Rdr2 have a horrible stutter problem which can only be fixed with a mod, however it doubles or even triples the amount of vram the game uses. I've seen people with 3080ti complaining about their vram maxing out while I'm chilling at around 16gb maximum 😎 There must be other situations where 3080ti isn't capable of what 3090 is. So don't just look at average fps like laymen, stability and headroom is also important.

Naw man, there is a way to utilize whose sweet 24gb of vram, i play acc in vr and i would max out the shit out of pixel density if i had rtx 3090. After that i would basically step in to matrix.😂
The difference between the 3080, 3080Ti, and 3090 are a few FPS from each other. The best value is still the 3080. The 3080Ti cost $500-600 more at MSRP but only give you an average of a few FPS. For that money, you can get a 3060 or 3070 as a second card.
I recommend getting the 3080Ti and not the 3090 since it is less expensive and you pretty much get about the same performance. You should only get the 3090 if you really want to have the fastest gpu on the market and the best performance.

@Dorin Cordier It's not. RTX 3090 is future-proof since the upcoming games in the future are gonna require tons of VRAM! If you're the kind of guy that replaces his graphic card every year then the RTX 3090 is not worth it. For a guy like me that buys a PC every 10 years of course it's worth it!

Looks like 2-4 frames better from the 3090 but it runs around 7-10 degrees cooler. It's amazing how a card that's is so much more expensive doesn't offer that much more

But remember, it was running on everything ultra with RTX on and DLSS at quality and 4K resolution. It's nearly impossible to reach 40 fps with these settings by another GPU :)
Something tells me that 3090 will last longer with those temperatures at load. Runs cooler, means it's more efficient with the same or similar (sometimes better) results than the 3080 Ti. Price.. well.. :) I don't dare to go there

As far as I am concerned, right now I won't making any hasty decisions at all to upgrade my graphic card if the newer one I wanted to be upgraded to hasn't got an enormous gap of performance to the older one!! So the question is how long should I be waiting for to be able to upgrade from my current gtx1070 to a future graphic card and what kind of graphic card should I need to upgrade in order to having an enormous gap of performance over the gtx 1070 to that of extent equally to my previous upgrading from gt 710 to gtx 1070? May be in the future rtx 7070 or whatever you call it gonna manage to making that huge leaps or not?
If you dont have a budget, get the rtx 3090 (3% better than the 3080ti!!!) if you dont have a budget but are sensible, get the 3080ti (way better than what youre running. If you have a budget of around 500$, get the 3070 :D
Tbh my brother picked up a brand new rtx 3070 it’s beast but I’m still holding on to my 1070 becuase it still maxes out every game I play on 1080p if the 1070 doesn’t play what you want then yea 3080 wouldn’t be a bad choice

So, 3 years ago i still happy with my 1060-6gb, but changing to 1440p monitor so i have to change my GPU to 1070ti too, and i happy with it until the RTX 3000 series came out.
I save money a lot to upgrade to RTX 3070. Sadly, the price it x2 or may be x3 in early 2021, i can't buy it and i told myself that 1070ti it still fine, it can run for 2 more years.

I have a tendency to never buy used pc parts (unless it’s a case or fans). These parts are too delicate and you never know what idiot used them. It can look totally fine like when you’re testing the part, they could just lower the frequency if it gets too hot etc. if the CPU was handled properly it’ll still have a long lifetime, even if it ran 24/7, but you can forget identifying proper usage.

If you are planning to buy a card with 24 GB vram for games, it means that you do not understand technology at all. I have nothing against the video. It was really interesting to see. But even this 2-5% is already a lot, even if you take an ordinary render farm with 10-20 such cards. And in a professional environment, the difference is 10-20%.

I was looking over many benchmark videos to see which I should get, a 3080 12 GB, 3080 Ti or 3090 to see if the higher cards were worth the extra money and with the 3080 Ti I would say yes because you get 1280 more cores and about a 10% performance increase over the 3080 12 GB at almost identical power usage but I see barely any improvement over the 3080 Ti with the 3090.
BTW, if you're wondering why I didn't consider the cheaper 3080 10 GB it's because I don't want to run out of VRAM while gaming at 4K with ultra settings and my current card already peaks at 10.2 GB of VRAM usage. They should have never given the 3080 only 10 GB memory and made it a 12 GB card from the start.
It costs more because it has double the vram. It's not really aimed for gamers.

Depends. i bought a TI but that's because I have a sff case that would allow me to run the 3090 but the heat build up in the case would be less than ideal. Just buy what you can afford and meets your needs.

For price and performance, i would go with the 3080 TI, the problem is the VRAM. 12 GB may be ok righ now but in a couple of years it will get very short. That's the only reason i'm going for the 3090, i want to have a PC that last for a few years without running short.

The performance gap between 3080TI and 3090 is equivalent to the gap between 2060S and 2070, and it can also be equivalent to the gap between 2070S and 2080
I think the future proof of the 3090 outweighs the 3080TI. With that 24 GB of GGD6X memory compared to the 12 on the TI. Most of these new games are going to be dropping 10 to 13 in the next 2 years thus the 3090 having that extra 12 will really set it self up for 5 to 7 years. Many games will never utilize that. Many people told me to buy 3080ti instead of 3090 because it performs the same with less cost, but I knew I was making the right decision with 3090 and I was right!
Rdr2 have a horrible stutter problem which can only be fixed with a mod, however it doubles or even triples the amount of vram the game uses. I've seen people with 3080ti complaining about their vram maxing out while I'm chilling at around 16gb maximum 😎
There must be other situations where 3080ti isn't capable of what 3090 is. So don't just look at average fps like laymen, stability and headroom is also important.

The difference between the 3080, 3080Ti, and 3090 are a few FPS from each other. The best value is still the 3080. The 3080Ti cost $500-600 more at MSRP but only give you an average of a few FPS. For that money, you can get a 3060 or 3070 as a second card.
3080 cannot be bought and the rest is just as expensive as the 3090, sooo
3090 still king and you get the peace of mind knowing you won't run out of VRAM.

I recommend getting the 3080Ti and not the 3090 since it is less expensive and you pretty much get about the same performance. You should only get the 3090 if you really want to have the fastest gpu on the market and the best performance.

Looks like 2-4 frames better from the 3090 but it runs around 7-10 degrees cooler. It's amazing how a card that's is so much more expensive doesn't offer that much more

When Cyber Punk cant even hit 60fps on the most powerful consumer card, you know its an unoptimized mess.
But remember, it was running on everything ultra with RTX on and DLSS at quality and 4K resolution. It's nearly impossible to reach 40 fps with these settings by another GPU :)
Something tells me that 3090 will last longer with those temperatures at load. Runs cooler, means it's more efficient with the same or similar (sometimes better) results than the 3080 Ti. Price.. well.. :) I don't dare to go there

Tbh my brother picked up a brand new rtx 3070 it’s beast but I’m still holding on to my 1070 becuase it still maxes out every game I play on 1080p if the 1070 doesn’t play what you want then yea 3080 wouldn’t be a bad choice
