Oud Wood is a very commercial smelling perfume that resembles not even a shadow of real oud fragrances. But Oud Wood Intense, while still not indicative of "oud", is a fabulous fragrance that stands on its own. I came across a massive source of decants and got my hands on a 250ml of this discontinued scent after trying a 10ml decant. Now this will be my signature scent for years to come. Excellent review, sir!
This works like a charm for me. Never failed me whenever I wore it. The dry down of this perfume is amazing , classy and smooth. That's when the magic started to happen.
People keep going for Oud Wood Intense but Tobacco Oud Intense is the real deal. His best release in the past 5 years. Such a massive fragrance it has everything. A mesmerizing Amber with enormous performance.

Love Oud Wood Intense. Got it before Christmas last year and wore it quite a lot in wintertime. Will try to wear it in summer to see how it plays off my skin. Also Clive Christian X is another masterpiece
Excellent review! I'm glad you enjoy OWI as much as I do! I got a small sample before it even came out and I thought it was mind blowing. VERY different from the original OW but I think OWI is actually better. It's definitely more potent and it's much deeper and darker and richer. I'm surprised you didn't mention the castoreum note, which I think gives it that leathery accord. I personally think castoreum is the main accord, besides the oud and other woods. I hope to get a full bottle of it one day soon! I hope it doesn't get reformulated. I love your channel and thanks for providing such great content!

Passed by this fragrance a few times but never tried it, maybe because i'm not overly crazy about the original oud wood, but if it has your seal of approval i need to check it out :)
Nice video Nikhil. I have oud wood. I have not tried intense versions. Normally the sequels are not good because they are compared with the previous versions. Have you tried Irish leather from Memo Paris.

I think the low rating on fragrantica has nothing to do with the scent itself i think it is because the fragrance was not an intense version of the original oud wood and most people were let down and did not want to treat this fragrance as a stand alone fragrance. I also would like to know ur thoughts about tobacco oud intense which i think is the true power house of tom ford these day. By the we do love oud wood intense in the middle east as u said 😁😁 i am an egyptian who lives in kuwait and the temprature here goes over 50 in the summer.

Apart from Tuscan Leather, generally, Tom Ford fragrances don't perform very well on me. I'll add the disclaimer that I'm by absolutely no means a particularly advanced or experienced nose, but Oud Wood is quite weak on me, and Oud Wood Intense was no better. Besides this, I wasn't captured by OWI the same way I was by TL. I will try it again for my 2nd, 3rd, and 4th opinion as I always do to see if I get more appreciation of it under different circumstances (e.g. different weather/season, different time of day etc).

By the way, I would also be interested to know what your method or process is for trying new fragrances when you go into a store. For example, do you go in there knowing exactly what you want to try and you just try that 1 or those 2-3 fragrances and leave, or do you take your time trying different scents to decide if you want to buy any?

I really don't like the word Intense. It sorts of cheapens the name of the fragrance (its a shame Nicolai Parfums is doing this too). I did like the original Oud wood although it was a bit too one dimensional for the high price. A very good alternative is the Oud wood body shower/ oil which is much cheaper and last just as long as the EDP on my skin (Which is quite suspicious now that i think of it). I will definitely put Oud Wood Intense on my to sample list.

Oud Wood is a solid scent, but performance is abysmal in that it lasts an hour and two, shits and bed, and disappears. Oud Wood Intense is a, "Meh" IMO and not much love for this one in the fragrance community. But I'm glad some people enjoy this very underwhelming fragrance.
Jim R So it's not just me. I had specifically tried Oud Wood Intense because I get no performance from Oud Wood. Not only was OWI quite ordinary to me, it wasn't very "Intense" in terms of its scent performance either. I'm actually surprised that Nikhil was so glowing in his review about it because my reaction to Tom Ford's fragrances of late has been that it seems he's not really hitting with that niche quality any more. Not enough for me to spend the sort of money they ask for his fragrances anyway.
To be fair, I did "like" the fragrance...but with great price comes great expectations, so I am extremely judgmental when the Xerjoff, Tom Ford, Creed and Amouage perfumes fail to deliver. It's easy to love a great smelling fragrance that costs under $40...not so much when the asking price is 5-10 times that amount. Cheers!
Jim R I agree and that's what I was trying to communicate; for the prices that Tom Ford fragrances command, OWI and the other "new" fragrances I've tried from his Private Blend just didn't have me running back to the store begging them to take my money. By comparison, Tuscan Leather had me back at the store within a couple of hours of trying it. OWI on the other hand has me thinking "Well... maybe I'll try it a couple more times in case it was just coz it was a hot/cold day when I tried it..." It's like I'm making excuses for it. But hey, it may also just be that it doesn't work on my skin and that's fine too! I don't want to love EVERY £300 perfume!

Ohhhh Nooo!!!! Yesterday I went to a TF boutique to sniff this one, and they offered me to choose 1 for sampling. By mistake, I told them to provide a sample for Oud Wood instead of Oud Wood Intense. The company policy is 1 sample per customer until the purchase is made. What a grave mistake.

Castoreum can give a slightly sweet leathery accord- there is no actual leather note in the fragrance.

I recently tested TF tobacco vanille. And I could still smell it on my shirt after 30 hours.
