For those of you asking, YES the person behind the camera put the locust there. This was staged. And yes the human filming prevented the parent birds from protecting the chicks. Do you honestly think he was filming by hand and the locust just randomly appeared?

Wow. That was brutal, but only because of the HUMAN INTERFERENCE. Nature videos can be brutal, but I respect them because, well, it is nature. THIS was NOT. A whole lot of things would've had to happen for this to actually go down. These chicks' parents, or at least mother, were being kept at bay, and this chick was actually super capable of fending this thing off, it just kept getting flipped onto it's back and held down long enough for the insect to get a good grip to snack. I bet this person killed ants with the use of a magnifying glass once, as well.

Stop deceiving people, your video has a deceptive title, please change the title of the video. In the video, the katydid (or bush cricket) is a species of Mecopoda elongata. Katydids are omnivorous (they eat other animals as well as vegetation, and locusts are only herbivorous). Katydids are easily distinguished from locusts by their long antennae, females have ovipositors on their bellies, male katydids chirp loudly with their wings, and bite painfully.

I just hope it was NOT the human filming the footage that purposely introduced the locust to the nest.
If the Locust found the baby bird itself naturally, well that's ok then. Nature taking its course. Afterall, the baby bird has probably been feasting on smaller insects before this ordeal. The bird was defenceless!
I also hope it wasn't the baby bird's Mum chirping in the background and doing nothing, at least attack or scratch the Locust.
The other Baby Bird was just dozing off while it's siblings was being attacked. Wonder if it had any idea what was going on.

And I also share the opinion with many others at this was staged, the cameramen, the cuts at conveniently show a insect overpowering the chick even if it thrashing around should eventually push away the intruder, and how the insect was just there and later it doesn't even show why it leaves without killing the chick (which may imply human intervention), I will be really mad if this guy killed a innocent chick for views (it survived the attack but with how deep the wound is it may die of infections and even if it lives it will probably leave a permanent mark on the chick at may complicate they life even further), the poor thing probably suffered a slow and painful death besides of also been eaten alive
Basically this isn't the beauty of nature because there are clear clues of human intervention in this "encounter" at may leave permanent wounds to the whole bird family
