Ah, Robin Hood's Bay, I remember it well, from when I was about 16, some 45 years ago, and decided to cycle there from my then home in grim Middlesbrough (much removed from my present-day home in Greece!). A three-speed bike. Its brakes were full on as it sped uncontrollably down the lane to Robin Hood's Bay, and I was convinced I was in for a dipping in the sea. Happy days!
I’ve done this journey many times in a car. I didn’t appreciate how interesting and beautiful it was. There were some great views of the North Sea coast. Thank you.
Driven this route many times. Get better views from the bus though. The Coast liner from Leeds/York to Scarborough is another very scenic journey. The trouble with all these services is the lack of passengers, as your video shows.
😊lol Mark you should have stopped over night in Whitby what a magical place it is ⭐ had lots of hols there not a bad price for the bus now you can get your train to your next destination all the best John 😊

Peter, I caught the train from there the next day and I didn't realise until I was researching the video afterwards. Otherwise I would've made a special effort to sit on it!
@@LetsMakeaTrip I only used it as had walked all the way up the long platform to photograph the redundant signalbox, only to find that the far end of platform was coned off, so I needed a rest on the way back 🙈😂 Was a complicated trip using a day trip on the coach from Lincolnshire, then on the Yorkshire Coastliner bus to Scarbrough, and all to ride behind one of Transpennine Express class 68 worked Novas back to York before they finish in December. Glad I did it, but at times it resembled one of Scott's transport challenges on Planes, Trains, and Everything 😂
Hiya, before the arrival of our daughter 16 years ago. My wife and I would on an occasional, drive from Leeds up to Saltburn-by-Sea on a Sunday. We would initially stop short of Saltburn at supposedly the smallest church in England in Upleatham to lay flowers for my Auntie. Then we would have a lovely leisurely drive down from Saltburn/Skelton through Whitby, Sandsend, Scarborough and finally to Bridlington. We would park on the promenade and eat Fish n Chips in the car. Then it would be the trek home back to Leeds. Our Saltburn to Bridlington journeys made so many lovely memories and this bus trip of yours brought them all back to the fore. So thank you for that and I wish you many more happy travels. Rob.

Have you ever tried out the 50 Breezer bus service between Bournemouth & Swanage before? It’s an open top bus similar to the one you took around the Isle Of Wight. It follows the coast and takes a short shuttle ferry that is pathed into it’s schedule which is a really unique feature. I’m going to try it out tomorrow
Another great review! Service X94 is a summer season service that operates until the end of October every year. The allocation is for the Volvo B7TL/ALX400s, although typically it ranges between a Pulsar 2, Wright StreetLite or Wright Gemini 2 on the route.
Yes, I know that route well and I have even done it with the sun shining! A pity you couldn't have dropped in at the iconic Scarborough Cricket Ground!
Yep, similar to my 840 trip and this was just an extension to that after being in Whitby for a bit it made sense to pay just another £2 as I was staying in Scarborough that night. Cheers mate 😊👍
on one really hot day in July, we caught train from Sheffield to Leeds, Bus over to Whitby, then down to Scarborough, next bus onto Bridlington and train home. Unfortunately for this leg we only had a single decker, but it was still great views,

A journey noto to be done when there's a strong East wind bringing a mass of sea fret onto the coast! Since the Whitby-Scarborough bus - even in this day and age - still has a frequent service (up to every half hour the bus said), you'd have thought that there would really have been enough passengers to keep the rail line open!
Sounded Danish to me, Once said to a Danish work colleagues that Swedish & Danish languages were more or less the same, I then received a 20-minute lecture in Danish history And on the last day they were with us they brought in Danish Cakes that they'd baked, No surprises who didn't get one.😢

Whitby is my favorite seaside town and although the route is steep it's very scenic.

That bus journey at £2 is cheaper than it was 10 years ago. Bus in better condition too, was always breaking down or being cancelled.

From what I understand, most the services on this route are single decker buses. That bus you got on is a one off.
