@indegruv, you hit it on the head, music is very subjective, and everyone is biased. I apologize for trying to help "define" the difference between genres. 1994-2002 breakbeat, cannot be pigeon-holed into one genre. A record made in Florida in 1997 sounds a hell of alot different than a record pressed in 2002 in the UK. (Again with a few exceptions) This is just my opinion. You dont have to accept it or like it.
I was DJing in both Ft. Lauderdale and South Beach from '89 to '98, and I would consider this Cheesy house. Since I am still DJing and have grown to love the new style it is very possible that i just cant remember. lol but I loved Dj ICEE for breaks. this is not like the breaks I remember. The build on this is weak too. It only has some samples of an 80's retro song, not old school.
Scott, I gave my self an out. I said that I may have just fallen in love with the new style of house so much, that I may not be able to remember ANY of the older house as being good. Im not a hater.
+Donovan Richardson Hahaaaaaaaaaaahahahahahahahahha....this is house. This is breaks from FLORIDA! We only started it and can claim the respect for it. BTW, it's DJ Icey, not Icee.
yea, I better get his name right before he gets sued by the drink maker. lol He was at the EDGE in Ft.Lauderdale a few nights while I was DJing at Manhattans. I finished at 4am and they were still going so I would go over and hang a bit. If I remember right his real name is Shawn, and he was a good guy, not like so many of the prima donnas. I have Icey's funkier, harder breaks. His actual BREAK, was the high point of his tracks. Remember the one where when it finally broke, it it turned into a Led Zeppelin song for about 8 counts... I have it, but forgot its name. I have forgotten so many of the names.... I just knew where they were located in my record bag. I could DJ almost by brail.. lol Good times..
these was the days man. 94 to 99 some of the best times of my life. partying from huston, new orleans, Biloxi, Panama city, Orlando. just follow the djs and the music to the next club. all these young kids have no clue what it use to be like in thr mid 90s. 1 tab= no less than a 5 hour roll.
@@russellgilbert428 Sweetheart he was talking about the break beats and raves and most definitely the love people had over the music, ecstacy, environment and the people. ❤
