    So just to answer your question, cheese is actually a VERY popular scent for many kinds of trout baits. So when the manual for a lake bans the use of cheese, they are referring to the use of cheese flavored dough baits made from brands such as Powerbait, Fireball, Zekes Gold, and plenty others. In Arizona where I live it’s very common to use these because trout LOVE the cheese scent. I can say, as weird as it may sound, it is very effective. Hope that helps! Love the vids Micah!

    I said in your last video that a pop up ice shanty would work well, but it looks more to be a rectangular space, I'm not sure you could find one that would work well for the boat. It would definitely be be easier and safer to set up out on that boat. Plus they generally have doors on two sides so you could have access to both sides of the boat.

    I used to fish with Velveeta all the time in Utah when I was younger. Works very well. Also, we used to take a can of easy cheese when we’d go scuba diving because a couple squirts into the water would bring all the fish in. Good times.

  • @mikeandrews2581
    @mikeandrews2581 2 года назад

    Up in West Virginia and Western Maryland we always used cheese for trout fishing.
    Use VELVEETA cheese cut into very small squares and roll into balls. They should be smaller than a marble but a little larger than a nugget of corn (Note: Corn works well also) anyway put your cheese balls in a Ziploc bag and place in the freezer over night. Keep them in your cooler while fishing. This helps to keep them firm and they stay on the hook much better.
    We also used # 10 hooks, gold color if you can find them.
    Places to fish:Jennings Randolph Lake, WV, North Branch of Potomac River, WV/MD, Savage River Reservoir,MD, Savage River, MD, Deep Creek Lake, MD.

  • @romanbacks626
    @romanbacks626 2 года назад +1

    As kids we would use velveeta cheese to catch perch and bluegill off the docks and they loved it. The cheese breaks up anytime they nibble it and leaves a huge scent cloud. I’ve never tried real cheese for trout, but I do have cheese scented powerbait that works really on stocked trout in my area. I think the color (and maybe the taste) resembles too much what the fish ate in the farms which is why you can’t use some baits.

    That orange reel you have for you ext cord works great for anchor ropes also. You just grab the middle of reel and drop your anchor then when your done with them and driving around you put the seat post on the boat seats through the reel for storing to them and keep them from rolling around and out of the way

    When big eagles fly over clear water, the fish see them too. Smith River Res is a good place to watch osprey catch trout. Clear Lake, headwaters for the Mckenzie River in Oregon- even when using clear monofilament line you can see your line 30 feet down in the water and so can the fish. Cold springs feed the lake from the bottom. I've seen cheese scented marshmallow baits in lots of stores. Trout prefer mild cheddar or monterey jack. Not the best bait though.
