Ahh that sax... touches the deepest point of the sense for passion..... combined with the appearence of Joshua with that look in his eyes.. I instantaniously fall in love... had to say it... :)
When this opening debuted, i WAS HOOKED! It is SO glamourous and jazzy! I miss Heather Tom, the REAL Victoria Newman! And Melody Thomas Scott is STILL daytime's reigning DIVA!
I remember hearing this version of the opening and watching y&r when i was home from school as a kid. My grandpa has been watching this show since the day it first aired in 1973 and he also raised me so i got to see a lot of this show growing up and even ended up getting into it at some point years ago and it became a hobby to watch y&r with my grandpa. Grandpa and i love discussing the show after watching it together and we would have nightly debates on what happened and what’s to come. I’m almost 24 now and i live with my husband now, 3 hours away from grandpa, but we still call each other and talk about the show after watching it lol. I also got to meet Joshua Morrow and Melody Thomas Scott a few years back (two separate shows) when they did a live show in the province i live in and they are both such wonderful people! I loved every minute of their show and talking to them was an amazing experience! Melody was really funny. When i went to her meet and greet, we each got an autographed photo and when she asked me who to make it out to, i said “Lloyd” (my grandpa’s name) and she giggled and says to me “hmm, you don’t look like a Lloyd to me, but i won’t argue.” And then i told her it was for my grandpa who’s been a longtime viewer of y&r and she said “oh that’s awesome and that makes more sense” and we both laughed at her thinking my name was Lloyd. 😂😂 And then when i met Joshua, he even talked to my grandpa on the phone and said hello and chatted with him for a few minutes during the meet and greet. I called grandpa and told him to stay on the phone with me while i waited in line to meet Joshua and when i got up to him, grandpa was about to let me go and i’m like “no stay on the phone i have a surprise!” And i asked Josh if he’d say hi to my grandpa who’s on the phone with me as i speak and he was like “absolutely”, then took my phone from me and said “hey grandpa how’s it going?” And then they talked for a few, and it was honestly the best thing in the world! I may not have gotten to bring grandpa with me to the city to see the show and meet him in person, but he was so happy to talk on the phone with him and it made his entire life as longtime viewer of the show! (Sorry for rambling on lol, i was really happy to share this story with anyone who reads my comment. 😊)
I started watching with my great grandmother and grandma in the 80s wow I can just smell breakfast cooking and after all this time I still watch it and I'm 40 now
It was a great opening. You have to remember there were big credit changes happening in 1999. Closing credits were “squeezed” and the iconic closing theme was not heard in the U.S. after July. I think this theme was a way to hear more of the melody from the closing AND to give credit to principal players. There were two issues with this though. After a while, they started the theme directly in the scene (rather than a fade to black) which sometimes created awkward musical clashes between the background music and the theme. These days, they do a GREAT job of pairing the scene music with the theme. The other problem was updates. They seemed unwilling to update the theme with new characters/actors. So as characters left or were recast, like Malcom, Ryan, Tomas, Nina, Mac, and Billy, they just replaced them with other folks already in the opening. Maybe they were wary to credit so many people in the opening credits as that was a new thing then. In the end, I’m glad they tried it, but I was happy to go back to the original opening in 2003. They still use part of this theme for the mid break bumpers in the U.S.!
Can y'all believe how adorable Camryn Grimes looked like back then as Cassie Newman, before she was recast as Mariah? Now she's blossomed into a grown woman!
I know I'm not crazy. When Mary J. Blige sampled this for "No More Drama", it was THAT particular instrumental (minus the hip hop beat) that was also used as the opening, I distinctly remember. Circa 1995 - 2001, I think (somewhere around there)
It's a shame Heather Tom has been gone from the role as Victoria Newman since 2003, and now playing Katie Logan on B&B since 2007, but back in the day she was the queen as Victoria Newman. For some reason I never really grew into Amelia Heinle as Victoria Newman even though she has portrayed her for more than 10 yrs now. I have been holding onto hope that Heather Tom would one day return to Y&R as Victoria Newman again, but I think that ship may have long sailed.
Does anyone just take a look at Heather Tom and think "Victoria's Secret" model??? I'm gay, but man, what a knockout!!! Melody Thomas Scott too! 1986-2000 are my favorite years of the show. I don't think I could watch it now ugh...
Nathan Bush That's what I think about Sharon Case. She has always been lovely. There was a dramatic flair with this music and the poses, but it didn't feel like a 'telenovela'.
Very much so Heather.. she coulda easily been a VS or SI Swimsuit model in her young days. She still could now honestly.. she's always been beyond georgous.

No, this version sucks, this is the new age version. People complained and they went back to one of the original versions. Don't mess with the original Nadia's theme, yeah that's what it's called, composed in 1971, named after a Olympic gymnast, Like new Coke, bad idea. Before my time, but I like history and culture before I was around.

I miss this version
This was a Great Opener YnR
OMG! I think I actually remember this opening even though I was just starting to watch Y&R at the time. The music is very reminiscent.
Best opening so glamour❤

The Young and the Restless, this portion brought to you today by New Era detergent. Era, New Hope For Tough Stains.
i remember that shit
*Sniffles* That takes me back.
Nick is still a gorgeous man, and even more so with age
They changed the theme music but people didn't like it, so they changed back. Don't mess with Nadia's theme.
I like this music theme and I wish this show can use it for the new romantic episodes.
Melody Thomas Scott is sooooooooooo Pretty.
Like the Jazzed up music but I still like the original theme best.
I concur, totally. I really loved this version of the opening theme. Just hearing it again brings back so many glorious memories of Y and R...
There's a real sexiness about this version, my favorite!
That looks perfect.
Can y'all believe how adorable Camryn Grimes looked like back then as Cassie Newman, before she was recast as Mariah? Now she's blossomed into a grown woman!
This Y&R theme is composed by Eric Koshiyama.
HATED this introduced back in the day but now I kinda miss it. I think they should use it randomly from time to time.
Marshall Pope Me too!!!
they do but only the end part

Heather Tom was better as Victoria than Ameila Heinle. Bring back Heather.
I don't know why they don't mix and match this with the existing theme. I love it.
I thought it was a respectable change to the intro. It had some sexiness to it.

I don't like the music but I liked how the introduction was created
Y & R for the 21st Century
