Some of Zerg famous trait and how Hero solved it: -Lings banes are hyper efficient. Banes can deal massive aoe damage, Lings can do surround and run by, and their number are too many for single targets -> Mass blink stalker to prevent surround. Use cheaper units so you have a bank to warp in to prevent run by, charged lots to match the number of lings -Roach ravager is super strong early to early mid game + queen transfuse is annoying ->Make enough stalker to one-shot queens and ravager, prevent healing. Use Oracle to provide vision so that stalker can fully kite with their long range attacks -Zerg has a bigger economy than you, so even if you trade evenly, you lose ->Use a cheaper army build to focus more on expanding, seeing Protoss have the same base and almost the same supply as Zerg is annoying. -Zerg late game is quite strong because Zerg can quickly switch into units that counter your army. (Skytoss - mass corruptor, Groundtoss - mass lurker, high tech units - viper) ->Don't try to trick the Zerg with your build since Zerg will adapt faster than you anyway, focus on 1 build and pressure early to prevent Zerg to get to late game. That said Hero did drop 1 game against DRG due to poor execution, so at the end of the day it's who played better. Rogue is not an insane micro player, he is a genius macro and tactical player, he can beat you with weird tactics and prevent any of your micro potential. However it's hard to cheese a protoss that make so many stalker so early so Rogue is forced to do a standard game where he couldn't beat Hero. DRG i would say is better skill wise compare to Rogue, he did beat Rogue and he performed better against Hero. As for any new and exciting build, there is always a counter, Hero may have surprised Rogue this time but next time it won't be.
Agree with many points but the key to this build is the 3 oracles, they shut down any counter or cheese Zerg can have. Also when the stalkers are doing the kiting thing, oracles prevent lings to chase. They are quite unique in the sense that they're not meant to deal damage, instead they're "defensive" Oracles. Also this certainly did not surprise Rogue, herO has been dominating with this style for months already. A lot of other pros are copying it as well.
Rogue also doesn't take the group stages seriously. He has a very different playstyle if he reaches the round of 4 upwards. Rogue is strongest when he's aggressive - and an aggressive opponent is Hero's weakness as in the previous GSL where he was taken out early.
Thank you for the wonderful analysis! I've been watching GSL year after year, but I still couldn't quite figure out how herO did this when I was watching it. It felt weird. Your analysis solved the mystery for me. So ty! And Jake is also right about the Oracles... Those Oracles did so much work. They were targeting different critical units at different times, setting up traps etc. I saw so many banes killed by the Oracles, and so many Queens fell too!
@@redwing999 yah most importantly which go unnoticed is Zerg cannot cheese because hero has 3 Oracles. Oracles Dps is insane and all zerg t1 units do not shoot up, except Queens which cannot transfuse off creep anymore
Good analysis in the comments already, but two points aren't getting enough attention in my opinion. First, hero is keeping the creep back much more actively than anyone else, it seems, which obviously gives his army more opportunities to shave off lings, and secondly, by shaving off lings and the occasional ravager, he is effectively preventing the zerg from droning up, because they have to keep spending larvae to replenish units and keep the armies in balance. A very micro intense, high APM, multi-focused playstyle, and I don't think there are many players, even among GSL pros, who could do it without getting surrounded and losing their stalkers in a moment of inattention.
@@archyology With Oracle. Using it at the front to clear creep force Queen at the front for both the oracle and making creep. This competes with larvae output starving the Zerg with larave (herO also actively scout and kill overlords in meta locations, again putting more larvae pressure on Zerg). The value of Oracle is greatly enhanced this way as opposed to the older way of only going for drone harass at the start.
This is like watching Neo beating the agents for the first time in Matrix, but even more unbelievable! He probably just flys up through the roof after his victory interviews at this point lol
The use of the oracels are making it work, lings cant get around and stalker takes small bites everypush. I think lurkers is the way to insta win but u gotta defens so well to get that far. Plz let this be the new era of the best race!
there's no way to get to lurkers. the math doesn't work out. u see in last game just skipping roach ravager to hydra get the zerg completely wiped much less lurkers.
Game two was shorter than game one because Rogue went hydras instead of Roach/Ravager. Zerg simply doesn't have enough time to get lurkers on the field.
this is crazy to see after watching creator fighting for his life to pull out those 2 victories over Rogue in the last GSL finals. looks like a completely different game
And to think that we used to make fun of Tosses researching Blink against Zerg... (To be fair, Stalkers without Blink are probably the worst unit against most Zerg units, easily surrounded by Lings, can't fight Roaches effectively on their own, and so on)
I just skipped into some games of Life from 2016 GSL Season 1 and what zergs nowadays are really lacking in comparison is being active on the map with units. We see very much defending creep and setting defenses for the big incoming pushes in order to destroy them and then counter attack. But thus you'll never catch the oppenent's reinforcements off guard and never have lings attacking from behind (imagine a a squad of lings from behind just when her0 blinked back off creep) and you'll never be a threat to infrastructure and/or economy of the opponent since you're only fighting on your side of the map.
Thats because zerg macro is so OP nowadays, they dont need to surprise the opponent or counter attack . Hell they dont even use infestors any more. Just sit back, spam larva and creep , they can even lose an entire base of drones and still be ahead. They need nerf so that zerg has to make good plays again
@@WuYixiang That's correct. But I'm not only talking about runbys but also about surrounds, flanks and intercepting reinforcements. Dark and Reynor are doing that but I think it's not as common as back then. Probably because zerg became more and more reactive in recent years?
I feel sometimes the caster can't forecast shit. Even I as a silver player can see where it's going in the first game but the casters made the wrong calls so much.
About 6 months ago Florida passed a law that makes it illegal for public or privately owned places of business to require masks, including schools, and even hospitals. But, vaccines are free and readily available, and to our credit, Florida was one of the quicker states to make vaccines available to the general public. You can literally walk into any Publix grocery store and get vaccinated within 10 or 15 minutes, no appointment necessary. Florida is definitely a political and covid 19 cesspool. But I love it here. No state income tax, beautiful (human and natural) scenery, low cost of living, beaches, perfect weather nine months out of the year. I can't imagine living anywhere else.

wondering how serral would counter this, I think the best way to counter hero style is early infestation pit and few infestors

He is continuously harassing and microing, indeed.
On point, and you can see, even among most top tier tosses there arent a lot of people who even attempt this style.

Good luck getting to lurkers when the protoss is able to keep pressure on and literally out-zerg the zerg in the early-mid game.

artosis's twitch voice saying "there's no way to know what they're doing, it takes no brains to do that"
Wow. What amazing times. Let's see if Zerg solve this one

For real? Did you see a game like that played by alphastar?

herO and PartinG have always been the best Blink players. I'm not surprised to see Blink Stalkers return in PvZ now that herO's back.
This is crazy
5 Bases and 100 army supply (170 total) at 8:30. Now those are nice numbers to see.
the new commentator isvery cooli like him. he is protoss too i like him 2x more
They said BLINK STALKER build was a DEAD-END build. You win early or you lose. You can't transition. WTF is happening here!!??!! :O

Rogue: WTF!
I feel like I understand nothing about Starcraft now, and I love it!
Surgical precision, wow Hero!!!
He is the new Lord and Savior
Protoss Hero!
Those 'lots shredded those Hydras to bits
This is ridiculous, beating Zerg with mass gateway units! O_o
hero is gateway god
hes playing alphastar protoss
GG!
I'm stunned.
I can see why he calls himself Hero. So damn well played, gg's

I did not expect it honestly
Now that's Soldiering!
RIP in studio pizza.

Where is Artosis
Sick
great Hero!
8:00 star game
series #43 of tasteless saying its cool to have an audience LUL
for the algorithm
Ridiculous how protoss can easily max out with 2 bases in 8 minutes with oracle harassments.
wow!!!
Raw power😅
