Love the test. Leakage is a big thing for my family during long day of boating. As of May 2019 the Engel is approx. $50 cheaper than either of the Otterbox coolers. Engel seems a no-brainer.
Can you guys do a in depth video with the OtterBox Venture series? Having a really hard time picking between that, Yeti, and Pelican. Awesome videos guys!
Still looks like its coming from the front side zipper. You were at ground level so ill take your word for it! Great cooler though. Its been my best soft side cooler yet. That with the Engel Ice packs and I can really get some good ice retention.
I would like to point out that the Otterbox 30 looks like it has much more space inside it then the engel 30. This means much more warm air was inside that otterbox to start the test. Also from the looks you can get much more stuff inside the otterbox. Would like to see after you have pre-cooled both Engel & Otterbox with 20 lbs of ice. Engal may still win but I hate the zipper & otterbox 30 gives you a option of carrying like a back pack & shoulder strap. Finally when you did a leak test the Engel leaked & the Otterbox did not.
I know that you do mostly reviews of cooler brands but it would be awesome if you did a test or a trial to see just how long you can keep ice, on say a full 2 weeks camping trip. Like what methods can be used to absolutely maximize the amount of time you have to keep things cold. Without electricity of course. Like by using several different coolers, one with food, one with drinks, one large one just with ice and dry ice to replenish the other coolers every day. Like how far is it possible to stretch it?
@@CoolersOnSale Awesome. I would then guess that the hotter the better. Then if its possible to get 2 full weeks or longer, when it 90 or above then every degree below that would be bonus time.
I like the otter box 20. I have a soft sided rtic 20 and it works great but I broke the zipper. Maybe the otter box latch would last longer ? Might wait and see how people like it first before switching. Also any chance you could test the soft orca ? It looks really nice just a little pricey. Thx , great video
For anyone considering this cooler.. It does a great job of insulation, but durability is major concern. My zipper has completely failed with normal use, and one of the handles has ripped off just carrying it. It has not been abused in any way, just used as intended. Engel will not do anything about the zipper, which is a clear weakness. I would not buy it again..
Mine has held up after 9 months of use and not daily but certainly 2-3 dsys a week I don't baby it but don't trash it. I found the urethane finish discoliring and cracking on my. Absolutely not acceptable in my eyes. Nobody does long term durability. I give a fuck if a cooler can keep ice 3 hours longer if I am buying one every year. It gets old watching the same videos of ice retention. Get a real test
Since you've tested both sizes of the otterbox softsided cooler which one would you bring to the beach out of those two? I'm gonna go check it out at coolersonsale.com for the whole review but also smash that like button and subscribe you'll feel better about your life I guarantee it
Nice work. Wonder how long that zipper will hold up. Isn’t there some port on the Engel that needs to vacuum out the air or something like that?
Yes, there is a vacuum port, but we've actually never used it.

We should also mention that the Engel HD we had was a beta version so this could contribute to the leaking.
Diapers for Leakage
great video as always! i have my eye on getting the engel softsided cooler at some point! Keep cranking out those videos!
On an editing binge!

The Otterbox held ice longer than Yeti & Pelican. We reviewed it here: www.coolersonsale.com/ultimate-ice-challenge-results/#2
Perfect thank you!
Would love to see a comparison of the yeti hoper, Otterbox trooper, and hydro flask unbound
We've reviewed the Hopper previously here: www.coolersonsale.com/how-to-choose-the-best-soft-sided-cooler/#Results

I agree, it was on the front of the cooler not the main zipper. Nonetheless, still the best soft cooler for ice retention.
@@CoolersOnSale Could that have been rain water?
Have you ever tested the Pelican soft coolers? I know they are ridiculously expensive for their size.
We haven't yet, but they are on our list. Quite a few people have recommended them as well.

They are both 30quart coolers. The OtterBox may appear bigger due to the large opening.
@@CoolersOnSale I got the otter 30 & hate it. Once you put ice in no room for anything else.

Sure, we can do that. A lot has to do with external temperatures.

We've tested the Orca Pod. Is that the one you're talking about?
Coolers On Sale the orca podster? I guess I missed that video. I’ll have to check it out.

I have the Engel hd30 works amazing held ice longer than my yeti. But my zipper ripped off and it’s out of warranty🙁
Have you reached out to Engel yet? They are usually pretty solid with customer service.
How long did it take for the zipper to go out? What's the warranty period on the Engel? I think its one year on the soft side.
The Engel was leaking from the pocket. Must have collected rain water in it
I think it was from the stitching area of the pocket. I don't think there was actually water in the pocket.

I think I like the Trooper 20 better. It holds its' shape really well, and the perfect size for a day cooler.
I wouldnt be so much worried about rain water going into the otterbox. I'd be worried about dirt or sand getting in there all over my food
Indeed a concern as well.
Engel wins because of the amount of thick padded insulation, but loses in terms of overall convenience.
It bet the water coming from the Engel was rain water in the pocket.
Good point, but I think it was more water than could have been in the pocket. It looks like where the handle was attached to the front of the bag.
Pelican 24 soft side will smoke the otter
We will check it out.
