My heart breaks for Donny. He was robbed of so much. He is trying to honor the Lord in obedience, but the desire outside of God is still pulling on him. After I read his interview online, I went in prayer for his deliverance. We can not win against sin in our own strength and if we are still fighting against a certain sin, then we are not delivered from that sin. For me, my sin was pornography which was also introduced to me at a young age. For years I struggled, I fought, I went months and sometimes years to only fall back into the same sin. I would actually cry in resentment and disgust, but still continued in the same sin. All of this why being a follower and believer in Christ. One day, I sat up in my bed and I said to God, I do not want to continue in this sin and I need you to help me out of this. I can not continue to do what I hate. Something got to give. Jesus overcame sin so I could be free. That's been at least 12 years ago. And when the enemy knew I was free and was not moved or pulled, he would attempt to creep in my dreams while I was unconscious. But guess what, my prayer life was so built up that he couldn't prevail over me even when I was not conscious. I'm free y'all! I've been celibate for about 20 years and I'm like, I'm not letting nobody mess up my good life. I love my life with the Lord, serving in outreach ministry, and living life with my kids and grandkids. I'm full and complete, and at times, I like to have some me time to myself.

Amazing Grace isn’t God awesome I’m still struggling with not being in a sin with my boyfriend . And praying about marriage but I know there is hope I am so spiritual hurt when I sin it breaks my heart and it’s discouraging but their is hope in Jesus deliverance is promised I kno it’s coming 🙌✝️

This man is struggling with a spirt and instead of judging him we should pray for him. He could have kept it to his self and pretended that everything was fine but him coming out like this is brave. He’s a prime example of not my will, but Thy will be done. Deliverance isn’t always taking away the desire, it’s understanding the boundaries and doing what it takes to remain free.
That’s true and to add to it, you don’t want to be a victim of being with someone who doesn’t know how to love you because of not loving themselves or still stuck in a past relationship of hurt where that relationship controls how they lol even the next person.

This made me sad not because I pity Pastor Donnie but because I want him to have the family that he desires. His ministry has blessed my life for as long as I can remember. I actually attended his church for awhile and at the time my husband and I wanted to have a child. He led an altar call and one of the ministers at the church actually prayed for my husband and I. We had our child within the year. Pastor Donnie truly has blessed me and so many others and I believe that the best is yet to come for him.❤🙏❤

At the same time, just like you back in the day, I have been struggling with my sexuality and I was teased on it by being called "gay" and the "f" word since I was a teenager. We fell in Love back in 1973......, I live in Phila.....he lived back then in my Dad's hometown of Va. We never told each other how we felt. Not until when he came looking for me. He obtained my phone number from my cousin and he called me. After talking on the phone every night he confessed that he always had deep feelings for me. I was surprised to hear this from him. He had held back all those years because he thought that I was possibly seeing someone in Philly.. After 38 years and knowing now how we have always felt for one another our Love of the Lord has burst a full and new Love for each other. We will be getting married next year. I am 67 and he is 66. I am there with him, although I think he's yearning more for a relationship. Now that I'm in my 40s, I see things so much better without being in a relationship. I'm happier and I'm at peace. I think you have to go through some things to have it(peace). Relationships can really take a toll on a person if they keep meeting people who don't mean you any good. I love to see love. You’ve just taken this Scripture out of context. We can ask, seek and knock but in doing so we must realise that God is still the only One who decides our lot in life. He is the Father and we are His children. He alone is good and wise and so even as we ask, we submit all our requests to His love and sovereignty. If you have children of your own you would know that while a good Father listens to his children, he doesn’t always give his children what they ask for even when they do it with tears or when it seems good in their eyes, but is something which the parent in their wisdom has determined it not to be beneficial to the child who is asking. God is infinitely wiser, better and more loving than the best of men, and in His goodness he withholds some of the things we ask for from us. However, the way you’ve interpreted this scripture is that we determine what we get; God must meet our demands when we make them and if we do not have what we have it’s because we have not asked or bothered God enough or we do not have enough faith. Heaven forbid that God can actually say no to us! What an entitled way to look at God. In fact, if this is your interpretation of this Matthew 7:7-12 then it makes the person requesting god and God basically a vending machine. Matthew 7:7-12 is not a carte blanche to get whatever you want or a blank cheque. Rather Jesus was encouraging us to freely approach our loving Father with our requests and desires trusting that he will not withhold anything good from us (Luke 11:13 actually tells us that this good thing is in fact the Holy Spirit, not money, fast cars or earthly treasures as some people teach). But anyone who is a true follower of Christ and believes God, will understand that it is God, not him/her who determines what “good” and should trust, like Donny has said in this clip, that no matter what God gives or withholds, all things will work together for the good of those who love Him. This is what true faith in God is, but it’s often confused with faith in ourselves or even in faith. It is also unfair to assume that all Brother Donny is doing is wishing for a family. Do you know how many times he has cried (and still cries) out to and begged God for marriage and children? Do you see him at night on his knees. I have friends who have been waiting for more than 10 years for children and pray every single day for this, and it’s heartbreaking when people say what you posted or tell them - you’re not praying enough, or have enough faith or haven’t decreed and declared enough. You might think you’re sending blessings but it’s just more heartbreak. Please stop saying stuff like this when you meet brothers and sisters who are waiting on God for something. God does as He wills, how he wills, when he wills. That he has given us the privilege through his Son to ask does not mean that we are the ones who determine our fate or decide what we have. God alone is sovereign and He has given us the best - His Son. This is enough to assure us that whatever we have or don’t, God loves us and is for us. Blessed be our God!
There’s alone and then there’s ALONE. Not being in a relationship doesn’t have to be seen as some curse. I’ve been both and now realize what a I want as much as possible is PEACE, PERIODT! When scripture says "all things have become new" it means that spiritually. The body is yet to be regenerated and the mind needs to be renewed. In this life, not all scars or wounds are healed. Somethings we are allowed to continue to endure for the glory the Lord is still working within us. Not to despair. What's to come makes what is now look like nothing.
Some are called to be single for the sake of the Kingdom (Mat 19.12), and such may be His case. I especially love the fact that he said he has joy and reminds us that happiness is transient. Folks are always up in arms about someone elses life and business. This man is speaking his own truth and I commend him for it. He is honest with himself and others. Thank you for sharing the video. Its so sad to see how past experiences can often shape our lives and dreams. I have know of Pastor Donnie for a very long time and his singing has no doubt been a huge blessing to my life and of course, to many others. Its heart breaking to hear his story and that marriage and family for him is extremely challenging. I am not so sure what happened to the lady with who he had a son with, and also it seems like things did not work out with Nicole Mullen but through this all, I am glad he had the courage to move on in his walk with God. I think whether married or single, our sole purpose is to live out God's plan for our lives and keep honoring Him by walking faithfully and obediently to His Word and to His Will. I know this in my own life, I am 55 years old (never married and no kids) just a single lady, serving the Lord wherever His will leads and walking with Him, being in His presence daily and enjoying that presence, encouraging others and sharing my faith. My journey over the past 22 years took me to 6 countries (where I worked as a missionary teacher) Singapore, China, Malaysia, Kazakhstan, Georgia and Turkey and also I lived in Thailand, Panama, Colombia, and France. And wherever I went I just delighted in being the salt and light we are called to be, and a vessel of His love, kindness, compassion and mercy. God bless you Pastor Donnie, keep shining as the beautiful gemstone God has shaped your life into and may your life and singing continue bless many, many more people as you honor God and faithfully walk with Him all of your days.
He's trying to walk in THE truth. In God's truth, and that supercedes any thought, idea, or desire I may have. If there is something in me that is sinful (and there have been many things), I won't find joy by leaning in to the sin because it makes me feel good for a moment. Even if it means that there are some things I can't have or do, I have to be willing to deny myself and follow Christ. To choose God's will, even over my own will. To trust that his will and his plan is better than anything I could devise.

Being single is very powerful and empowering. Most people are caught up in the programming that they need to be with someone, married or in a relationship to be happy. That explains why a lot of them are unhappy and miserable. I have never been more happy being single.

This was good to hear and know because it's totally relatable. I never knew about his sexuality. As I get older the part about the baby is what I have struggled with and continue to struggle. He's not saying he is struggling with a sin, I believe he is saying he is struggling with being in a relationship. It doesn't necessarily mean he is in sin.

Just because we struggle in one or a few areas in our life doesn’t mean we’re lost. It just means we’re still on the journey to our destination. There is much we can do through Christ who strengthens us even in the midst of having to endure a trial or obstacle. We just gotta keep putting one foot in front of the other 😉

People have to understand, not everyone is built for relationships. Just look around you. A lot of folks are in and out of marriages because of doing things their way and not God's way or timing. People want to try his way after the fact, instead of letting him guide you in the first place. Plus you can focus more on the Lord's will for your life in singleness without distractions. My heart breaks for Donny. He was robbed of so much. He is trying to honor the Lord in obedience, but the desire outside of God is still pulling on him. After I read his interview online, I went in prayer for his deliverance. We can not win against sin in our own strength and if we are still fighting against a certain sin, then we are not delivered from that sin. For me, my sin was pornography which was also introduced to me at a young age. For years I struggled, I fought, I went months and sometimes years to only fall back into the same sin. I would actually cry in resentment and disgust, but still continued in the same sin. All of this why being a follower and believer in Christ. One day, I sat up in my bed and I said to God, I do not want to continue in this sin and I need you to help me out of this. I can not continue to do what I hate. Something got to give. Jesus overcame sin so I could be free. That's been at least 12 years ago. And when the enemy knew I was free and was not moved or pulled, he would attempt to creep in my dreams while I was unconscious. But guess what, my prayer life was so built up that he couldn't prevail over me even when I was not conscious. I'm free y'all! I've been celibate for about 20 years and I'm like, I'm not letting nobody mess up my good life. I love my life with the Lord, serving in outreach ministry, and living life with my kids and grandkids. I'm full and complete, and at times, I like to have some me time to myself.

This made me sad not because I pity Pastor Donnie but because I want him to have the family that he desires. His ministry has blessed my life for as long as I can remember. I actually attended his church for awhile and at the time my husband and I wanted to have a child. He led an altar call and one of the ministers at the church actually prayed for my husband and I. We had our child within the year. Pastor Donnie truly has blessed me and so many others and I believe that the best is yet to come for him.❤🙏❤

The Lord has Blessed me with a Man of God that I had not seen since 1983. We fell in Love back in 1973......, I live in Phila.....he lived back then in my Dad's hometown of Va. We never told each other how we felt. Not until when he came looking for me. He obtained my phone number from my cousin and he called me. After talking on the phone every night he confessed that he always had deep feelings for me. I was surprised to hear this from him. He had held back all those years because he thought that I was possibly seeing someone in Philly.. After 38 years and knowing now how we have always felt for one another our Love of the Lord has burst a full and new Love for each other. We will be getting married next year. I am 67 and he is 66. You’ve just taken this Scripture out of context. We can ask, seek and knock but in doing so we must realise that God is still the only One who decides our lot in life. He is the Father and we are His children. He alone is good and wise and so even as we ask, we submit all our requests to His love and sovereignty.
If you have children of your own you would know that while a good Father listens to his children, he doesn’t always give his children what they ask for even when they do it with tears or when it seems good in their eyes, but is something which the parent in their wisdom has determined it not to be beneficial to the child who is asking. God is infinitely wiser, better and more loving than the best of men, and in His goodness he withholds some of the things we ask for from us.
However, the way you’ve interpreted this scripture is that we determine what we get; God must meet our demands when we make them and if we do not have what we have it’s because we have not asked or bothered God enough or we do not have enough faith. Heaven forbid that God can actually say no to us! What an entitled way to look at God. In fact, if this is your interpretation of this Matthew 7:7-12 then it makes the person requesting god and God basically a vending machine.
Matthew 7:7-12 is not a carte blanche to get whatever you want or a blank cheque. Rather Jesus was encouraging us to freely approach our loving Father with our requests and desires trusting that he will not withhold anything good from us (Luke 11:13 actually tells us that this good thing is in fact the Holy Spirit, not money, fast cars or earthly treasures as some people teach). But anyone who is a true follower of Christ and believes God, will understand that it is God, not him/her who determines what “good” and should trust, like Donny has said in this clip, that no matter what God gives or withholds, all things will work together for the good of those who love Him. This is what true faith in God is, but it’s often confused with faith in ourselves or even in faith.
It is also unfair to assume that all Brother Donny is doing is wishing for a family. Do you know how many times he has cried (and still cries) out to and begged God for marriage and children? Do you see him at night on his knees. I have friends who have been waiting for more than 10 years for children and pray every single day for this, and it’s heartbreaking when people say what you posted or tell them - you’re not praying enough, or have enough faith or haven’t decreed and declared enough. You might think you’re sending blessings but it’s just more heartbreak. Please stop saying stuff like this when you meet brothers and sisters who are waiting on God for something.
God does as He wills, how he wills, when he wills. That he has given us the privilege through his Son to ask does not mean that we are the ones who determine our fate or decide what we have. God alone is sovereign and He has given us the best - His Son. This is enough to assure us that whatever we have or don’t, God loves us and is for us. Blessed be our God!

When scripture says "all things have become new" it means that spiritually. The body is yet to be regenerated and the mind needs to be renewed. In this life, not all scars or wounds are healed. I have know of Pastor Donnie for a very long time and his singing has no doubt been a huge blessing to my life and of course, to many others. Its heart breaking to hear his story and that marriage and family for him is extremely challenging. I am not so sure what happened to the lady with who he had a son with, and also it seems like things did not work out with Nicole Mullen but through this all, I am glad he had the courage to move on in his walk with God. I think whether married or single, our sole purpose is to live out God's plan for our lives and keep honoring Him by walking faithfully and obediently to His Word and to His Will. I know this in my own life, I am 55 years old (never married and no kids) just a single lady, serving the Lord wherever His will leads and walking with Him, being in His presence daily and enjoying that presence, encouraging others and sharing my faith. My journey over the past 22 years took me to 6 countries (where I worked as a missionary teacher) Singapore, China, Malaysia, Kazakhstan, Georgia and Turkey and also I lived in Thailand, Panama, Colombia, and France. And wherever I went I just delighted in being the salt and light we are called to be, and a vessel of His love, kindness, compassion and mercy. God bless you Pastor Donnie, keep shining as the beautiful gemstone God has shaped your life into and may your life and singing continue bless many, many more people as you honor God and faithfully walk with Him all of your days.

Since he first hit the scene, I suspected he was bi or gay.
When did he ever deny his past? But clearly he’s struggling with what the Bible says about it. Hard to judge him.
He already said he use to be gay. He’s Ben very vocal about that.
He's trying to walk in THE truth. In God's truth, and that supercedes any thought, idea, or desire I may have. If there is something in me that is sinful (and there have been many things), I won't find joy by leaning in to the sin because it makes me feel good for a moment. Even if it means that there are some things I can't have or do, I have to be willing to deny myself and follow Christ. To choose God's will, even over my own will. To trust that his will and his plan is better than anything I could devise.

Being single is very powerful and empowering. Most people are caught up in the programming that they need to be with someone, married or in a relationship to be happy. That explains why a lot of them are unhappy and miserable. I have never been more happy being single.

I'm 37 years old. And I've been on dates. Had a relationship at one time and messed it up because I wanted to hang out with friends. But that was a long time ago. Now I've been single for quite sometime now. I'm content with with it.

Don't let it scare you, use it to draw you closer to Christ. The closer you are to him the easier things will be and the fear will leave. The more you run from the matter the more the enemy will torment you. Just give it all to God and trust him by being obedient and you will see what miraculous things he does for you

This was good to hear and know because it's totally relatable. I never knew about his sexuality. As I get older the part about the baby is what I have struggled with and continue to struggle. Not sure if I want to adopt or have artificial. Especially single. My family and I are in different states. There's so much more you want to do. Feels overwhelming at times.
If you realize, he keeps saying "spouse " or "someone " not directly a woman. It goes to show he may still be struggling. I feel your pain, at least he is honest. I hope he finds peace.

He's not saying he is struggling with a sin, I believe he is saying he is struggling with being in a relationship. It doesn't necessarily mean he is in sin.
And the sad truth is many religious people would rather he be alone and miserable for the rest of their lives instead of being happy and non heterosexual. Which is hypocritical because they, themselves get to be in loving relationships but they have no problem with people like Donnie being alone.

Just because we struggle in one or a few areas in our life doesn’t mean we’re lost. It just means we’re still on the journey to our destination. There is much we can do through Christ who strengthens us even in the midst of having to endure a trial or obstacle. We just gotta keep putting one foot in front of the other 😉

Well, Donnie just said his past relationships were with men and women-marriage is not for everybody.
He made his choice. for him to admit that he had men and women, he could have still had a man if he wanted it. He wanted companionship the dream of what marriage is suppose to be. Don't make it more than what it is.
At 30 never married nor children, I enjoy singlehood soo much. The peace and tranquility is unmatched. Especially in todays climate. People have to understand, not everyone is built for relationships. Just look around you. A lot of folks are in and out of marriages because of doing things their way and not God's way or timing. People want to try his way after the fact, instead of letting him guide you in the first place. Plus you can focus more on the Lord's will for your life in singleness without distractions. It's an amazing experience! 🙌🏽
