This Celtic team , still average by comparison to the great Celtic teams of the past , is still miles better than the current 2016 crop of under achievers .
It's telling that a lot of the guys in the starting lineup in this game (when they were in their prime) are still with the club now (and no longer in their prime). I'm thinking of Izagierre, Commons, and Mulgrew in particular. Hopefully Brendan Rodgers can clean up the mess left behind by Ronny Deila, who seemed to be signing players based on Football Manager 2011 ratings. Also I just learned that Samaras now plays for Rayo OKC in the NASL (North American 2nd division) which is the same division as my local team (Ottawa Fury). May have to go see Samaras in action!

I If a football club is liquidated it’s finished. Continuity with its history and records ends. This is not the same as a football company changing its name. In 1994 Celtic became a public limited company and changed its name to Celtic PLC but, of course, remained the same company, with the same incorporation number and retained the same registration with the SFA.
