Πεζοπορία στον Καταρράκτη Λειβαδίτη.

Καταρράκτης Τραχωνίου-Λειβαδίτη
Αναμφίβολα η δημιουργικότητα της φύσης στην Ορεινή Ροδόπη δεν έχει όρια. Οι θησαυροί που κρύβονται στα σπλάχνα της είναι αμέτρητοι και περιμένουν καρτερικά να τους ανακαλύψουμε.Από το δασικό χωριό Ερύμανθου.Μια διαδρομη 12 χλμ με επιστροφή, γεμάτη οξιές απολαμβάνετε σε κάθε σας βήμα τα δώρα που χαρίζει η Φύση.Η σηματοδότηση είναι πολύ καλή. Κατά την κατάβασή μας συναντάμε παγκάκια για ξεκούραση και πινακίδες πληροφόρησης για τη χλωρίδα και την πανίδα της περιοχής.Στη πορεία συναντάμε διασταύρωση με το ευρωπαϊκό μονοπάτι Ε6, το οποίο έρχεται από το Λειβαδίτη και καταλήγει στη βάση του καταρράκτη. Συνεπώς τα τελευταία 800 μ. της πορείας μας γίνονται πάνω στο ευρωπαϊκό μονοπάτι Ε6.Λίγο πιο κάτω συναντάμε άλλη μια διασταύρωση με ένα μονοπάτι που ακολουθώντας το θα μας βγάλει σε “μπαλκόνι” με θέα τον καταρράκτη της Αγ. Βαρβάρας .Μετά από 45′ κατηφορικής πορείας έχουμε πλησιάσει στον προορισμό μας. Αυτό μαρτυρά η παρουσία των τρεχούμενων νερών, των μικρών λιμνών καθώς και η βουή του αεικίνητου νερού. Θα χρειαστεί να ανηφορίσουμε λίγο προς ένα μικρό φυσικό μπαλκόνι απ’ όπου μπορούμε ανεμπόδιστα να απολαύσουμε το μοναδικό υπερθέαμα. Τα νερά πέφτουν κατακόρυφα από ύψος 40 μ., αφήνοντάς μας άφωνους μπροστά στο μεγαλείο της δημιουργικότητας της φύσης.Σαν εικόνες περνάνε από το μυαλό μου όλοι οι θρύλοι και οι μύθοι που ακολουθούν την περιοχή.Εδώ ζούσαν οι Ναϊάδες των αρχαίων μύθων και οι νεράιδες των λαϊκών παραμυθιών. Εδώ χόρευαν στους διονυσιακούς ρυθμούς οι Σάτυροι. Μέσα στα αρχέγονα αυτά δάση αντιλαλούσαν τα τραγούδια του Ορφέα, γιου της Μούσας Καλλιόπης και του θεού Απόλλωνα, ο οποίος μάγευε με την κιθάρα του θεούς και ανθρώπους .Οι πιο τολμηροί μπορούν να προσεγγίσουν τη βάση του καταρράκτη. Πρέπει όμως να γνωρίζουν ότι τα βράχια γλιστράνε πολύ και το νερό (ακόμα και το καλοκαίρι) είναι παγωμένο. Αρκετές φορές το χειμώνα ο καταρράκτης παγώνει και τα αιωρούμενα κρύσταλλα σπάνε με εκκωφαντικό θόρυβο, όταν η θερμοκρασία ανεβαίνει Η επιστροφή γίνεται από το ίδιο μονοπάτι.
