How to Read Beam BBS Reinforcement Drawing? | How to Read Structural Drawing
When the length of a longitudinal bar surpasses the full length of reinforcing bar then another reinforcing bar is arranged by overlaying with existing one. The length of overlapping is known as lap length. The lap length for several diameter bar is demonstrated in the general notes sheet of structural drawing.
The lap length varied for top and bottom longitudinal bar of beam.
Bend Length: It is known that all longitudinal bars of beam are bent at the end of the bar. The length of bend is decided by the suggestions of structural engineer in the general note sheet of structural drawing.
Verify if any instruction exists in the general note sheet about the bend length.
If there is no instruction, a general formula can be applied for 90° bend with adherence to ACI code i.e 12db. Here “db” means the diameter of bar.
Clear Cover for Reinforcement: Determine if any instruction exists for the clear cover for beam reinforcement in the general note sheet or beam layout sheet or in the beam reinforcement detailing sheet of structural drawing.
Obtain lap length details for several diameter of top and bottom longitudinal bar of the beam.

I have a question sir from Pakistan.
Suppose we have 2 beams B1 and B2 and a column between them. B1 has 3 top main bars and B2 has 4 Top main bars.
My question is that top main bars of B2 (4 bars) will extend in the span of B1 or not.
Just as we take Top extra at L/3 or L/4 at support. Should top bars of 1 beam extend in next beam.

Sir, you explained well but a small mistake that I noticed is in section 1-1, you shown 4 bars, but they come in two layers with a separate piece.
Same way in section 2-2.
