Farmers are probably not the best people to grow this business - we need people who can do this full time, with expertise and energy. Farmers are much better at their own areas of expertise.
@Daveydave51 no i dont. We have developed a local farmers community with an online shop that delivers to accessible centres once a week. This has been developed initially by a local farmer, this was a trial of 2 years. Volunteers then took it up and developed further, getting grants to pay for a part time administrator (who was a farmers wife), and is now being managed by a small company who grow organic vegetables. So no, not supermarkets. Everything on sale is put on the site by the actual producers. It is seasonal and local, including meat and now also offering organic non-farm foods such as pasta and pulses too.
I have saved a fortune buying from my local farm shop. Less shrinkage for meat, ie, not full of water. Better shelf life for veg. I spend around £50 per week for all my meat, veg, cheese etc. feeding a family of three.
I agree with you on that point. My butcher does packs - a couple of pounds + of silverside, stewing steak [which melts off the fork] mince, proper sausages and bacon for 35 quid and there is no waste, nor water at all. Another pack for £30 is steak, mince, sausages, chicken beefburgers and bacon- and he will swap items out. It is far better value than anything from a supermarket and we know which farms locally supply what, where applicable. The same is true of the veg he offers, plus other associated items - pies etc. The idea that they are more expensive has been drummed into us but the quality and the fact that there is less waste means it works out cheaper or comparable to the cheap rubbish.
The late, great Brian Clough said lots of things - some more sensible than others, but one of his main ideas was that you have to focus on your own game and tactics and not on those of your opponent. By trying to block supermarkets, they're fighting the govt. They should ignore what the govt are doing and focus on their own tactics and let the govt respond if they care too.
Yes , play your own game - according your own rules. Playing someone else’s game , according someone else’s ( corrupted and constantly changing ) rules , is a loosing strategy. Farmers hold the power , they supply real , substantial , things. “ The system “ produces nothing , the system needs the farmers - farmers don’t need “ this system “.

Trotters Farm Shop near Scarborough is fantastic. All their produce is absolutely delicious. We feel blessed to have discovered it and will continue to shop there. The supermarkets cannot compete with the quality of the meats, veg, milk and bakery.
Yes Richard a dairy farmer here , I have milk rounds and 3/4 or more goes direct to the public, since the cow fart thing we have gained 150 or more customers, the thing is the food that comes without government support has to be more expensive, plus they have many weapons in their arsenal to fore us to comply. Thank you for your video and I am already there
Hence your urgent need to cut all ties with the (criminal) gvmnt; and set yourself FREE. It will be a rough/ unsettling transition; but it will be so worth it!!! Farmers have the ultimate power; in the end… most people want to eat…. Once farmers will see that by accepting handouts; they put themselves into a “beggars “ position; and whit that ; give your power away.
Speaking for myself but if a local farm said "these carrots are £6 thats because thats what they cost to grow and keep my farm running i would have no problem what so ever, problem is we know that farm shops retail shops supermarkets ect, whatever we pay through them still doesn't really help the farm at all
look up the sovereign project run by Peter Stone for how to get your farm into allodial title and protected from all GovCORPS so they can never touch it or tell you what to do. Never register anything as that = GIVING IT AWAY in fact.
Good one Richard. This goes well with the recent interview by The Bowler Hat Farmer and Sovereign Pete. Its time farmers (everyone) wake up and realise that nobody can tell you what to do. The farmers have got themselves backed into a corner by allowing Supermarkets and DEFRA to dictate how farming is done in the UK. We; the consumer, need farmers on our side, not the government or the greedy supermarkets.
Richard, your insights on the government's takeover of farmland are both thought-provoking and timely. It's crucial that we engage in conversations about food security and the implications of such actions on local communities and farmers. Your video highlights the importance of advocating for sustainable practices and protecting the rights of those who cultivate our land. Thank you for shedding light on this important issue and encouraging us to think critically about the future of agriculture! God bless you, dear fellow.

The public will buy direct as long as prices are competitive! Farmers can't expect to sell for twice the price or more than the supermarkets. Virtually everyone is currently feeling the pinch.
i think the word pinch is no where stromg enough . d.mail today even higher prices coming and just a few days back about more food taxes . maybe thats what is meant by higher prices . been announced months ago energy going up this month and recently it said also in april ? i wonder if farmers can charge at a competive price but if not i cant see too many being able to afford it or at least not often. although they spray their crops too and if buying directly at least its not going to a factory first bf it can be bought in the shops .

I totally agree with you as a retired farmer. My farm was 'compulsory purchased' by the Scottish govt in 2020. I had never taken any hand out/subsidy from the govt. My farm was mixed and did fine and had done for 8 generations BUT there's no stopping them when they want your land and before anyone asks, they do NOT need to say why they need your land. Law is law and they take what they want when they want. So, in short, Richard has got it right, however, farming is done. They don't want us any more but they will want and take your land. That, sadly, cannot be stopped.

Thank you so much for this very honest and sobering video. Yes we will support the farmers directly at the farm and No we don't need grocery strores because they are not in the business of selling health nor real food. I no longer buy any meat, poultry, eggs, wild pig, lamb, Elk, We have small farmers all within a 30 minute drive and now I go directly to the farm and the local markets and encourage them directly and in cash!. This year I need to learn how to make my own plant butter and bread that way I need the grocery store less and less. My food tasts amazing since I started and I'm much healthier all around.
Plough the fields and scatter the good seed of the land. Excellent Vobes 100% correct. We need the good stuff. If it’s left to the government we’ll all end up eating plastic. Keep up the good fight.
People can approach farms to help with direct sales and perhaps accept payment in food. May be some people would just volunteer to help the farm kick it off. They can't create a shop, staff and that much time aside without help l think. It's a coming together idea that has benefits of community.
We have places here that sell the farmers food, not a grocery store, just a warehouse if you will. You pay a fee and are guaranteed to get a certain amount of produce, fruit and or meat. Its a co-op that just distributes the food to those who pay the fee. You bring a bag and take whats yours. I wish I had that closer to me, id have signed up years ago. Friends family does it and had for a decade, they get great stuff and Far more then what you would get at a grocery store.

Exactly what I was thinking Richard. They want us to suffer turn on each other and of course we are the cattle they don't want around botty burping! Food and milk direct may be the answer. Maybe more farm shops and those milk dispenser machines on Clarkson's farm. We all need to be more independent xx

💯 percent Richard, thank you for bringing this to everyone’s attention, hopefully the farmers are watching and will agree. Let’s turn our backs on the government and take back control ❤
The powers that be have been looking to exterminate farmers since WW2 and replace them with commodity (chemical grown and killing environment) producers. They have been most sucessful. Except for a few parts of this country no actual food is grown. We now import 60% of the food eaten. i 100% completely agree with Richard, the farmers have the power, the power to turn this boat around. And the current subsidy system COULD be used to be a part of the revolution needed, so the farmers can become our Guardians of tomorrow!
So grateful to buy direct from the grower. Farmers are amazing, hard working men & women who have an incredible skill. Thank you for all you do. Love to follow those who farm naturally without needing fertilizers or week killers. Animals graze together on meadow grasses that have herbs and variety to maintain health. Mother nature has it all in balance, may we see the way through to loving kindness standing in unity helping each other. Love to all
I actually think you are 💯 correct on this one. The farmers are being played as part of the over arching agenda. Let’s hope that the 17 January, doesn’t end in disappointment, but the farmers have to do something. Start growing vegetables and selling them directly to the public.
Yes that’s true they were told what to grow, but when the farmer grew 2 fields of Cabbages the Gov came along and smashed them up ‘we don’t want them’ they said.
This puts me in mind of that Great Depression Diaries thing which Neil McCoy-Ward did, where the farmers were "made" to pour milk away, while people were starving - I think that was govt dictating to them too if memory serves. Govts are filled with psychopaths and, as I keep telling people, they simply DO NOT CARE about you - but will people listen? Perhaps not, but they'll surely soon REALISE it when they are "uncomfortably hungry" shall we say. Watch the mayhem ensure if people reach that point, they'll be stealing from their friends and neighbours to eat - hopefully they won't get to the point where they are actually EATING them! Let us hope that the people as a whole do not allow it to reach that point where everyone is starving because it will be a really ugly scene.
Well said Richard, this country needs a revolution in food production, Our farmers are amazing, we need them to be iin in control of their welfare, and therefore ours...
Well said. The powers that shouldn’t be intend us to starve and the farmers will get the blame. If there was a farm shop nearby I would definitely shop there.
@@wecandothiswarriors You wouldn't believe the amount of people I've seen commenting (maybe bots but who knows these days?) on the Inheritance Tax thing saying GOOD, you SHOULD be paying your share - they just don't understand it, quite clearly. Many moons ago I worked in a legal office and I watched the estate gradually being consumed, they had to take out a bank loan to pay the Inheritance Tax (you get penalties if you don't pay on time), then pay the bank back. The properties were in a fairly prime spot but the old dear couldn't afford to maintain them, they needed various repairs, which the estate also had to pay for, and the tenancies weren't drawn up properly and they all had sitting tenants, so you couldn't SELL the properties to pay any debts either. People think that if you own property you are rich. You can be asset rich and cash poor, for sure. I saw it with someone whose family had, compared to the rest of us, a stately home type of place (albeit a small one in comparison to some). Historic, was a listed building etc. That chap drove a banger, was stick thin, ran around like a lunatic working his arse off to earn enough to try to keep the family home. I know he had a pile of unopened post which was full of bills - he simply stopped opening the post because he couldn't pay the debts. There you have it, they have got people who can't afford to buy a home, and who are paying extortionate rents, assuming that those who already own property are wealthy. Oh diddums, just sell up and downsize, is what they'll say. Ok, so tell me, if these people all have to downsize, where exactly do you think the property is coming from for YOU to buy/rent? The downsizers are going to buy the smaller properties that you might hope to own, because they'll have peanuts left by the time they've managed to sell and pay off their debts. People don't understand there are always knock on effects.. Instead, they allow the media/govt to tell them to hate people who are "lucky enough" to be within the threshold of paying Inheritance Tax. They just don't understand the knock on effects, they love to hate people who they ASSUME (with, as I say, a LOT of help from the govt/media) are "well off". They don't get it, that by dragging everyone down to the same level where everyone is poor/starving, none of the general populace wins. Who's going to donate to the foodbanks to help out once ALL of the wealth/assets have been stripped from the middle class, I wonder... People don't think things through, instead, they just love to hate a villain, and usually the villain they are told to hate. Rather than actually hating the origin of everyone's misery - usually the govt! Sorry bit of a rant there, but it's amazing the way they've got some of the population fooled into thinking that everyone who falls within the Inheritance Tax bracket is ridiculously wealthy - people just don't know the half of it behind the scenes!
@@wecandothiswarriors I mean that the media will make out that the reason the shelves are empty is because the farmers are striking. Those of us who realise that the farmers are being stopped from farming will not blame them at all. I just mean they will be scapegoated.

Bravo Richard one of the best speeches I've ever heard you make so far, yes the farmers need to take responsibility back for the living men and women they are also all the farmers should put their land into non statutory trusts to protect their land from government interference and stealing, this type of trust makes your property and land tax free and your land can then be passed down to the family's next generation with no issues, trust law or probate law is one of the highest laws to use as a living man or woman and it's above anything the legal system or government can do to you they just won't go near you as they will have no power or jurisdiction to do so in the first place 👍🏻💯
Very well said Richard, I totally agree and it concerns me greatly that farmers are playing into the government's hands because Gov dont care if we starve. They want the population numbers down greatly. Also if food goes into ration, the British people will be at the back of the queue as we are now for Health care, Dentistry, housing etc. Much as we greatly support our farmers, if they upset the public by creating food shortages it's the end of the road for us all. 😢

The same is true of the veg he offers, plus other associated items - pies etc. The idea that they are more expensive has been drummed into us but the quality and the fact that there is less waste means it works out cheaper or comparable to the cheap rubbish.
Before the “powers that be “ put “things “ into place they’ve already figured out all the angles, ie how us “plebs “ will react.
No doubt about that.

Well done Richard for speaking out. When I heard the farmers want to boycott/block supermarkets I thought this is going to backfire!
I was suspicious as soon as I realised the government were endorsing it!

Never FEAR and do not comply to evilness. Just understand you have a trust fun get to know how to use it by being in the private.
The farmers have been giving their power away for many years. You are always spot on Richard
Well said!
Haha good luck with that big single farm payment talks.
Richard is absolutely spot on with this. It's all obvious if you think about it critically. Wake up and see the lies!
Good points Richard.

I will support the farmers all the way
Spot on! Farmers are in a unique position to make the government bend if they could only sell directly to the public.
Here in Australia, l don't think Farmer's are aloud to sell direct to the public, l wish they could, as l want proper Farm food.
I heard a RUclips reporter advise farmers to place their farms into a trust where the following generation carry on, the government apparently can't touch them.
From Australia. Totally agree 💯
Well put it this way, if the farmers compete on price with the supermarkets then they will still make more money than selling to the supermarkets.
i disagree, i'm happy to pay more for good quality local organic veg and dairy and we do not go to the supermarkets anymore. yes you have to make sacrifices, give up your crappy foods but its worth it
You are absolutely right, Richard. Thank you for saying this ! Brilliant. Farmer’s solution is Peter of England. All the tools are available to make this happen. All the best from BC Canada where we have our fair share of chaos. 😅 This world is a clown show.
Totally agree with this Richard. Whilst farmers are protesting, they're not growing food and building local markets.
I wish every farmer would have a weekend stall set up outside their farm. Raw milk, veg, eggs etc etc. would much prefer the money went to them not the supermarkets pushing insects and lab grown meat .
How are they supposed to make money the other five days of the week?
Spot on Richard
Concerning times indeed ! Thank you Richard for your chat on this subject. I have a friend who is a farmer.
That's terrible to lose your farm after 8 generations. I had no idea that could happen. We're heading towards totalitarianism.
@@sarahvegangarden4822 Sarah, thank you for your kind words. Please know that they can do this on ANY property/land in the UK. The clock is sadly ticking for all of us. God Bless.

@@chelamcguire That this was done to you and your family not only sickens me - it makes me furious, which is rare for me. I assume some new proposed road or such like was the excuse they hung that CP order on. The first time i became aware of compulsory purchase when in the early 70's, not a farm but an absolutely beautiful house and gardens that were several lifetimes work, all still tended for by the then owners. ''They'' wanted to smooth out a bend in the road just outside Strathblane. I'm not so sure ''they'' ever actually did. Very scary Richard, I think you're right, just hope enough people are listening

Ive always said the farmers have stupidity played into the Government's hands by excepting payouts.
Money talks .
As an exfarmer I advised farmers on this in the early 1990's...
Well said Richard a great way of explaining the subject.
Good points Richard, thanks. We have had cheap food for ages so we dont appreciate how much it actually costs to grow.
In Costco yesterday..the one near Chingford and the pork and beef was imported from America...found that odd..that's a lot of air miles.

100% agreed!!!👍👍👍
The powers that be have been looking to exterminate farmers since WW2 and replace them with commodity (chemical grown and killing environment) producers.
They have been most sucessful. Except for a few parts of this country no actual food is grown.
We now import 60% of the food eaten. i 100% completely agree with Richard, the farmers have the power, the power to turn this boat around. And the current subsidy system COULD be used to be a part of the revolution needed, so the farmers can become our Guardians of tomorrow!
Bravo Richard! You have nailed it. 👏👏👏The more people/farmers see the bigger picture, the better.
That's actuall evil!
🎯💪👍💯. ❤ from the Netherlands
Well said Richard, this country needs a revolution in food production, Our farmers are amazing, we need them to be iin in control of their welfare, and therefore ours...
And this is exactly why big corporations and governments should not take over land. They are too arrogant and stupid to be in control of anything.
A different way of looking at it and hope farmers look at this way too
You are right on!!!! Way to go!!❤
We let government get too big, too much control.

Spot on Richard!
