Greg, this is a true story. There is a letter written, in 1500, by a Portuguese Officer who was on the ship that discovered Brasil which later was sent to the king of Portugal describing that a piper stepped down the ship and started playing tunes in order to stablish a common language between them. It means that officially (you can correct me if I am wrong) the first instrument to be played in the Americas was a bagpipe (there are doubts if it was a portuguese or a "galega" bagpipe. Greetins from Brasil !

I’m certain it was. Bagpipes are everywhere in Europe. Greetings from Ireland 🇮🇪 ☘️

      Thanks Fabiano.
Carlos has a very entertaining story about how Celtic music and the bag pipes migrated through the world. He said that the first explorers tested to see if the locals in South America were friendly by putting the piper on shore first to test the reception. It seems they like the music :-)
