Read these books years back, when I wasn't the best reader and it's telling how good these twists are that they're so easy to recall. Nothing was ever the same following Kurda's betrayal to say nothing of what happens later on. The bit that gets me is his death. Somehow, the back-stabbing traitor who has gotten 2 friends killed being executed is the only one in that room not feeling any shame.
They all know he's being more honourable than they are, despite everything. A lot of this trilogy is quietly about the vampires acknowledging how unfair and unrealistic their code is. Even the Princes all elect to twist the system to allow Darren a few days of rest inbetween two of the trials.
Wow, never heard of this one before, but now I've got a new read on my hands. Best Halloween ever.
Absolutely here for Sam simping over Kurda
:O That edit! Omw to check it out now!
Did not expect this but this is amazing. This was my middle school life
