- Lyn Slater is not your average professor - she’s also an accidental icon. When the 65-year-old launched her fashion blog, her goal was to create a space where women of all ages could have an intelligent conversation about fashion. Now, her Instagram account has over 600,000 followers.

I had her as my graduate professor this past semester. She is AMAZING!! Not only is her style on point all the time, but she's incredibly smart and witty! I am so honored to have been in her class and learn under her wing. Age is limitless, as she would lecture to the class!!
And that’s exactly how she would dress. Her style was very simple but very sleek with a hint of dimensional pieces. Two main accessories that complimented the outfits were her big hoop earrings and trendy glasses. She ALWAYS paired the two with her outfit. Every Thursday, I looked forward to her outfits. I, myself have a passion for style and mixing pieces. She gives inspiration to not just people of older age but to youth individuals as well. If you truly enjoy expressing yourself through clothes, then you should, regardless of age! As I like to say, “you gotta own who you are” ❤️

Great. I’m just accepting my age. I’m 63, will be 64 this year. I don’t mind getting older as much as the fear of becoming irrelevant. Thank you for being who you are. You give me permission to be me!!

The issue with age is health. Look after yourself. Once people hit 80 then health seems to deteriorate. Stay active, walk, laugh. My Mum is 87 and has been active her whole life but the body quite simply wears out.

Respect for her. My Great-Grandmother stayed on slay for the majority of my life. All the way until the end of her life. I'm grateful bcuz it set the example that I can enjoy fashion at ANY age.

You're fantastic! I love that ur a "funky academic" . I've been told that I "have my own style" which means I dress in a way that "they" consider weird and I like very much LOL. I'll be 60 in a few days and am VERY happy to have found a kindred spirit.

Lyn has brought to life every feeling & dream I have about fashion & aging. We all want to live a long time but not grow old. How silly is that.? Society still holds women to impossible standards. Be sexy, alluring, interesting in spite of losing the assets of youthful health; firm bodies, smooth skin, great hair, strong bones & good eye site. Lyn shows us how to stay in the game of being attractive, wearing clothes that suit the body we've grown into & still looking & moving with vitality. The fashion looks she has brought to life say I am chic, still looking fine & VERY much ALIVE & still living my life on purpose while loving every minute of being a woman.

Age is only a number.
I turned "60" four month's ago and having a real hard time accepting this age!! Especially when they show nothing but 20-30 year old girls on commercials and not to mention "men" would rather be with them than with one my age!!
@Goody two shoes You're only 45 and feeling the "effects of aging" already? Damn. This definitely lets me know genetics factor into it, because 45 is way too early to be talking like that. At least in my family. Then again, we are melanated, so that figures into it too. Justin Eats is right by the way. It's in your mind. If you think "now's about the time I should be getting old" then you will.

60 is young. I'm 71 and told I look late-50s. Have the same attitude as she. Pain and meds-free, and feel better than in my 40s.

People are accepting that individuals should do what they want no matter the age, gender, religious beliefs, etc. For example at our church last Sunday, we could observe a male choir member wearing a long, textured skirt, and another male after dancing could be see using a beautiful hand fan to cool himself. This creative expression is the new life we have on this Earth.

I think she is fabulous!!!!! When I receive my AARP card 10 years ago you didn't bother me at much now turning the next chapter in two weeks the big gold I called it LOL seem like it's really bothering me even though I'm not Social Security age yet! Lol... seeing her commercial gave me super energy because at one time I used to model in my younger years. So this validates that ages just a number let your mind be young and let your heart follow.

I’m so sick of the ageism in fashion. Most women can’t relate to a prepubescent model. Fashion magazines have died because they don’t speak to us anymore. We don’t buy the image that you are only beautiful if you are young, tiny, and bored.

I'm just not into fashion. I still wear the same clothes I wore 25 years ago, which consists of jeans and a pretty camp shirt. Everything I have is still like new. Saved tons of money.
