    Summary
    ~~~~~
    Whether you bought your Steam Deck at launch, or you purchased it used from someone else, you may be interested in learning what the health of your battery is at.
    And thankfully Steam OS has a feature built in that allows us to check on it.
    But to find out, we first need to reboot the Steam Deck into Desktop Mode.
    Now, we want to look for the battery icon down in the bottom right corner of the screen.
    Then we simply need to click on the icon and that will expand the Battery & Brightness panel.
    This is where your Steam Deck will display the health of the battery.
    If it reads 100%, or really anything above 70%, then your battery isn't in bad shape at all.
    I've even read that this percentage will fluxuate between around 90% and 100% fairly often.
    However, if this percentage is 50% or below, then you may want to consider investing in a replacement for the Steam Deck battery.
    But even then, it may not be a big deal at all.
    The Steam Deck has passthrough charging support.
    So anytime the battery is at 90% or higher, and the Steam Deck is plugged into a proper charger, then its being powered by the outlet. . .not the battery.
    So if you aren't worried about the battery life, then you may not need to replace the battery at all.
    As long as isn't damaged or swelling, it won't matter what the battery health is at.
    That just means your play sessions will be shorter when you're not connected to the charger.
    Which is a major selling point for a lot of people. No one likes replacing the battery every year but the Steam Deck and its passthrough charging support allows you to continue gaming without worrying about the battery.
    It's still a good idea to be aware of the battery health of your Steam Deck, though.
    Since battery life estimates will be different for you, compared to what you see reported online, due to your battery being at 50% capacity.
      you're very welcome! I would go back and check the battery health every week or two (for the first month) and while it is at different battery percentages.
      just so you know it's fully calibrated. but so far so good! congrats on the refurbished Steam Deck!
      which game(s) have you been playing on it first?
    Is it normal that the white power LED starts to blink a few times after I enabled the storage mode?
    Shortly before switching off I mean.
    Mine sits anywhere between 86-90% after about two years.
      that's a great battery health level to be at after that time period. do you consider yourself to be rough with the battery (letting it drop to 0% often?)
      @@SteamDeckExplained Not really, i try to not let it dip below 20%. I do have it hooked up to the wall while using it for a long time at home though.
    Battery life is 80%, but it drains super fast when Playing Black Myth Wukong.. like it went from 100% to like 30% in less than 10 mins
    • @SteamDeckExplained
      @SteamDeckExplained  15 дней назад
      that definitely doesn't sound normal! let me check to see if there's a way to calibrate the battery
      if not, then you may want to look into getting that battery replaced
      My battery lasts about 2 hrs 15 mins ? from 100 percent to 0. Yours sounds like there's something wrong with it
