The U3000 is improved and the successor to the U1000 which was released in Sept. 2019. In regards to Parking Mode, the U3000 has its Radar Module integrated rather than being a separate Radar Module unit. The App is updated and the features are pretty good. The U3000 front camera when compared to the former U1000 you will notice there is very little difference or significant change in quality. The rear camera was HD and now is 2K, however, the U3000 does appear to have issues with rear parking mode. Thinkware is probably working on a solution or firmware update. We will see if Thinkware will do a recall on the rear camera with its built-in radar module depending on the type of fix required. The U3000 is the best dash cam for Parking Mode. The Viofo A139 Pro with 4K HDR provides the best front video quality and offers an excellent license plate reader during the daytime and is okay at night. The A139 Pro performs well in Parking Mode at night because of its HDR capability however, there must be sufficient lighting at night near the vehicle. The A139 Pro rear 2K camera does lousy in parking mode. In complete darkness, no dash cam performs well as video quality is grainy, fuzzy, and barely noticeable due to lack of light. Until dash cams have military-grade Night Vision Goggles, nighttime visibility is a nightmare.
Just installed mine yesterday, it was long 12hr diy for me lol. Anyway regarding the rear camera radar, i just realized it wasnt detecting well. May i know how you confirm the problem with yours? Did you contact thinkware? Damn i wish it works as good as the front radar.
I like the review. I find it honest and detailed. Definiely like your water bottle test. I however have one suggestion. Clean your glass. Especially from the inside. Cameras work much better when the lens is clean and when applicable, the glass is clean as well. Catch you on the next review.
Thanks for the sincere review, I love your channel 👍 This is an extreme flaw from the developers of this amazing dashcam for their failure to put HDR,I can't simply understand. It would have simply shut Every other brands up. As much as I love this with it's sleeky design soo much, I wouldn't be getting it. Updates expected: Make both front and rear starvis 2, include HDR, and work on the video quality. If it's sold for $1000, I will surely buy it with no essitation. I will wait to see what upgrade comes from thinkware on this
Police cars use camera that captures the license plate. So thinkware inc. for the price they can't capture the license on every vehicle especially in the side lane. I use a GoPro 4K 4X magnification and narrow which I'm able to capture license plates on a bicycle shooting 30° back from the handlebar. GoPro used to have an attachment for the hero black three plus on the back that would turn it on and off and it's much better quality. Microwave sensors are commonly available and would activate most dash cams.🎉
Great review Sir! Thanks. My only concern is whether the dash cam can tracked if stolen. I'm looking for a dash cam that can be tracked if stolen (GPS built-in) even when its battery is run out! What brand would you recommend, Sir?
Funny you ask that, because I had that on the video but I missed on adding it in while I was editing. The field of view for the Front Radar camera it picks-up right about where the side view mirror is almost 90 degree angle . Hope that helped :)
@High Tech Point ill be honest the thinkware was to expensive also I couldn't take the advantage of the radar and the traffic lights speed cameras as im in the UK thanks for the review much appreciated.
@High Tech Point yeah the video quality on the viofo is great but the thinkware has better parking mode with lower power consumption and more features which explains the price tag
The one I tested is the U3000 Front + Rear Dash Cam Bundle which also comes with the OBD2 power and the CPL filter only, in my opinion the external is a must when it comes to any dashcam for piece of mind when it comes to parking modes. If you have the budget to get the battery bundle that would definitely be the better choice.
Wish it had the visual performance of a Viofo. The radar features are the only saving grace for this expensive camera. I'll wait for Viofo to implement these features. Also why waste even more battery by lighting up the led whenever the radar is turned on? Why even alert people that you have a dash cam? Come on Thinkware be smart about this!
The led portion you have the option to disable for both front and rear camera, the radar really does a great job with the battery so far on my car seems to hold it a lot longer I would say 70% more than when I had motion detection on. one of the features which keeps me with Thinkware is the red light and speed camera alerts, especially where I live they keep on putting more and more around the city. I wish more dashcams would start to include that in.
@@htpoint The red light and speed camera alerts I already receive thru Waze so it isn't a must have feature for me in a dashcam. I do like the radar but that alone isn't worth the premium you need to pay for the U3000. The visual quality is a let down compared to Viofo.
For the plates topic it wil be alot easier if America & some other plates weren't so dang tiny especially living in America where almost everyone drives stupid large suvs & trucks
On the app there is the option to turn off the LED for both front and the rear camera. But I think having the indication LED can also be a good deterrent sometimes.

Does the forward collision warning work well?
What about ADAS? Rear and front collision warning system, front vehicle departure warning, lane departure warning?

Except for relay to fog lamps would light up the area or you could use black light rather invisible visible to the camera.

Push the rear camera cable in until you hear a distinct click otherwise the radar parking mode will not work properly.
Thanks for the sincere review, I love your channel 👍

Night vision on scenes: is the polarized filter installed?
Wondering if the anti glare filter was on the units lens while capturing vids...
Excellent review. Does this camera automatically overwrite the older files when the SD card gets full?
Does the cloud notification work when on radar parking mode? On u1000 the wifi does not connect when on radar mode
Just Uploaded The Thinkware U3000 vs U1000 Video Footage Comparison ruclips.net/video/5o5q-jY4nVo/видео.html
My U3000 rear camera radar feature doesn't work as well. Please let us know if you have a solution for this issue. Thanks!

I have not working rear radar too. it just does not work. Submitted the ticket. Do not understand what to do?

What brand would you recommend, Sir?
I have 15 percent tint on my rear window how is the picture quality of the rear camera as for tinted windows
Thank you for the information.
Have you solved the issue with the Rear Dashcam Radar?, my Rear Dashcam Radar is not working,.
Does it have the lock button like the VIOFO when you see something interesting and want to lock the file so you can go find the video later
hello friends very nice videos did you solve your rear camera problem? and could do a new test?
any feedback on the field of view from radar?
Funny you ask that, because I had that on the video but I missed on adding it in while I was editing. The field of view for the Front Radar camera it picks-up right about where the side view mirror is almost 90 degree angle . Hope that helped :)
has recognition of pedestrians, cyclists or possible side collisions (if they are within the field of vision) thank you
Thank you for the information, which SD memory card do you recommend to use with the U3000?
I am using on the U1000 512GB (SanDisk 512GB Extreme PRO SDXC card + RescuePro Deluxe up to 200 MB/s UHS-I Class 10 U3 V30) micro sd. works well.
Thank you
I would buy a Samsung Pro endurance or a sandisk max endurance as these cards are designed for dash cams. constantly to write & read.
I went for the Viofo A139pro
The video quality must look really good on that one I assume , I haven't had the chance to check that one out yet.
@High Tech Point ill be honest the thinkware was to expensive also I couldn't take the advantage of the radar and the traffic lights speed cameras as im in the UK thanks for the review much appreciated.

Thanks so much for watching really appreciate it :)
Did you get the bundle deal with the hardwiring kit and external ivolt xtra battery?
The one I tested is the U3000 Front + Rear Dash Cam Bundle which also comes with the OBD2 power and the CPL filter only, in my opinion the external is a must when it comes to any dashcam for piece of mind when it comes to parking modes. Does it kill the dab radio?

Are you Rob Schneider's twin? 😉
😂🤣
Save me from a ticket? I wasn't exactly planning on running a red light...
For the plates topic it wil be alot easier if America & some other plates weren't so dang tiny especially living in America where almost everyone drives stupid large suvs & trucks
splaces plates
Video quality looks bad
Its better to go for to 2k and 60FPS.
Adding the LED lights is the stupidest decision to make. What were they thinking.
On the app there is the option to turn off the LED for both front and the rear camera. But I think having the indication LED can also be a good deterrent sometimes.
@@htpointexactly, same reason car alarms have had leds for decades now : a deterrent.
