I am a retired HK teacher. I would visit Calgary and Vancouver once every two years because part of my family reside in Canada. I usually spend a few months in HK every year and the rest of the year would be spent in several other English-speaking countries. CALGARY is a great place to live in if you don't mind driving in the snow. I love CANADA !!
For people planning to retire soon, it is recommended to find out the Senior Benefits and Programs from different provinces. You will be shocked to see the huge difference. Federal Programs are the same applicable for all provinces. Child Care benefits are different by the provinces too.
East hasting has a lot of homeless and crime. It is the same as other not cities, as long as you are not going there that should not affect you. Vancouver is still a safe place to live.

@@jeffstatec6906 really? I thought only could see that if working in or related in oil companies. I knew salary in Toronto approx 20% more than in Van in same industry. But hardly heard in Calgary unless in oil industry
@@masterbear888 You are right, only ppl are working in oil and gas field higher income than other provinces, but it us no longer big gap now. Oil companies have been downturn in past few years, longer than expected, 6/7 years, a lot of ppl have been layoff. Now, oil companies hire ppl back with lower income than before. The income advantage is no longer that strong, only cheaper housing price but still extreme weather that not everyone can handle it when age is older. That why you see a lot of Calgarian earn money in Calgary and then move to Vancouver when they are retired.
@@janiceho6034 yep but nowadays Vancouver inflation like rocket, hard for those who wants to move back to Vancouver from other province (except Toronto) even they sold their properties before move back during retirement

上世紀90年代初不少移民落腳到卡城、愛城的香港人，最後都返回溫埠，一分錢一分貨係冇錯，溫埠雖然生活成本高，仍然咁多人住，自然有佢道理。

Miko你好，首先，你不覺得溫哥華的生活環境跟香港很相似嗎？我曾經在亞省的Edmonton 住了超過十年，天氣冷倒不是令我最介意的，我最討厭的是亞省那地方很無聊，非常悶，三日嘅long weekend 除了去Jasper 國家公園外就找不到其它地方了，所以我打死都唔會搬翻去
鍾意多姿多彩個生活的人, 在加拿大就應該去滿地可, 法英語皆可. 適應喜歡融入當地社會和文化的人, 不需"太保留自己文化". 一般而言, 英語加拿大的生活太"悶". 但多倫多近二十年來也改變許多 -- 指文化上. 溫哥華天氣一年到晚落雨多, 本人有風濕, 不可住溫哥華, 而且選擇遠離"華人社會圈"生活. 不過作為魁北克人, 我地唔系好鍾意講英語的新移民.希望你地講法文, 尊重我地個語言和文化!

You are absoulately wrong about salary difference. At the same professinal position, it is 20~30% higher here in Calgary than Vancouver.
