- First big group test of 2013. Audi's R8 has a new dual-clutch transmission, the Turbo S is on its way out and for £20k, Litchfield will give you a 750hp GT-R than can handle normal roads. Game on.
R8 anyday. By far the best looking and that naturally aspirated V10 is th eight wonder of the world.

Even though I am a huge 911 fan, I would gladly choose the R8 V10 over the 911 Turbo. It just had more drama and excitement overall. The GT3, however, is another story.

To be able to appreciate these cars look's you have to see them in person. The Audi r8 is a truly beautiful machine it many not be as quick as a gtr but i can sacrifices speed for Looks, Quality and sound but that's just my 2 cens.

Glove box in my mates 1st gen R8 was all over the place too. Felt cheap as hell and not what you'd expect in the top of the range Audi. Interior in his earlier S5 felt nicer (apart from the loose fake alloy door trim)

SO lets get this right, the R8 is normally aspirated. no mods at all... it beats the 911 turbo and losses by 1 second to a twin turbo GTR that is modified to the hilt...... well im guessing the R8 is worth its weight in gold then.
I believe this GTR is modified to only 1/3 the hilt.
5.2L V10 vs 3.6 Flat 6 and 3.8L V6. Naturally aspirated but a much larger engine.
jocky102 you call this GTR modified to the hilt? Lolol. An AMS or ETS or Alpha Logic or Switzer GTR is highly modded. But a GTR from those tunners would rape any tunner car from porsche or audi.

Its totally impressive how the 911 goes away in the drag race compared to the R8, great car. The greatest part of this episode was the track test of the GT-R showing Chris totally speechless, love it.

As much as I love GTR, but I will take the R8. I love the 911 too but sorry I love the GTR more, but the 1st gen R8 is my favourite and always will be.

Go to Revo / Stasis and buy a Supercharger Kit. It'll churn out over 700hp after this too. AND sound great AND look better than the others. It's what i'd do if i feel short of power. :)

And what about everything else you need to make that chassis handle the hp increase, brakes, tires, suspension, cooling etc? And how much does a rebuild cost on a lambo engine if the pimply drug addict with a nose ring who installs it wrong at the tuner shop or forgets a bolt hmmm Tuning and reliability do not belong in the same sentence especially when lambo is in there too.... Go read the horror stories about rich dudes heavily tuning any car

gtr with 750 hp, r8 with 550 hp and the gtr only beats it by 1 second on track? imagine the gtr without all its mods. it would be destroyed by the r8 and porsche. and for the dragrace, well yeah the gtr was faster but who cares at that point? the r8 is mind blowing fast and doesn't need any mods to be fast, comfortable, good looking, well build, perfect sound. and the v10! just for the engine, I would the extra price.

Do you think that the only difference between the GTR and the R8 a mere 1 second difference? Do you know what that means on a race track? I must agree that the GTR was just on a whole different level but please do not believe that the GTR would have been spanked by these two cars in stock trim.
Elitecamp27 I know 1 second on track is everything but as an all day car, that one second is nothing. That's what I meant but I see your point here. The thing is, i honestly don't think that 1 second Will change the way the acceleration feels.
Not to mention that the GTR is a joke on the Nürburgring in comparison.
It's a terrible car made of plastic without heritage, without soul and only one purpose, and that is to be the fastest in a straight line. Why they chose the GTR instead of great Italian or British car is beyond me.

Comparing the GTR's 750 HP to Audi's 550 doesn't seem at all fair. Both are nice cars but I would take the R8 every time.
The VDC and ET-S AWD handle 750hp pretty well. Nissan got the best stability, traction control and all wheel drive on the planet. If it's lighter with a stiffer damper, it'll become a UFO. Not to mention it beats the 918 in acceleration to 100mph...

wow. everyone trashing the GTR should know that the chassis and the engine are about 7 years old now. next new one will be out soon. GTR's now aren't a big improvement over the original model. the engine, chassis, suspension and gearbox are pretty much the same with minor tweaks. the R8V10 and 911T are a different story.
The R8 is also seven years old and the only change is extra power and a different transmission.
SIMcityplayer2002 the lambo V10 makes a big difference over the V8 that it originally had.
do some research before you try to sound smart, the GTR has a new dual clutch transmission compared to the old grr that would shatter the transmission if you did hard launches with the traction control off. And the turbos aren't the same.

nope. audis engines have never been the problem, it's the horrendous nose-heaviness and the tons of understeer. the r8 4.2 is just as great a car, and the 4.2 v8 is one of the greatest engines ever.

I never liked the GTR. It just looks so cheap, and the Nissan badge isn't helping. The interior is just a shithole and the outside just looks so mainstream. The 911 is a bit better with a nice interior and it looks expensive but again it's just a heap of mainstream. I'll take the R8 thank you.

Well gtr. It's not kind of my style. Even if it's the fastest one, i'm not gonna buy it. I admit that it's a great car, but you know. It's just a another japanese sports car. The audi. Style's great, it has great sound, great exterior. But, i want that 911. The only car that i wanted since i was kid has been 911. That's one of my life goal.

Well, even if that is the case, what matters at the end of the day is which car meets the drivers lifestyle the best. For example, I would buy a porsche 911 turbo S over and r8 and a gtr. The GTR is the fastest, hands down.

This was a genuinely great review. As a real Nissan enthusiasts I love the GTR and all of its glory. However the the Audi R8 seems like a pure, balanced and proper sports car.
One of the best car comparison iv'e seen this guy can actually drive not like the other comparisons just drive in the GTR and call it the best because it's the easiest to drive.

The 8 year old GTR still looks pretty slick, the R8 relatively fresh, though the 911 looks ancient now compared to the newer 911 models. I'd love to see this GTR vs a 992 TurboS to see how far the Porker :) has come.

The thing that got me is the slow-mo launch. Watching the GT-R's rear wheels begin to spin then quickly stop, then pick right back up again is mind boggling. Just thinking of how all that torque is getting transferred around gives me goose bumps.
I'm not a big Japanese import fan, but I'd take that GTR over the other two any day. Such an amazing performer, and great driving by the host!

Every gear head knows the sound of understeer, its that overwhelming deep bass vibrating drone sound coming into the cabin that shakes everything in the cabin as he enters the turn, you can also tell by how long it takes for him to turn in, wait for the understeer to subside and then he gets to powerslide only at the exit of the turn, a car with good turn in allows you to initiate a slide much earlier.
