  • Epidsode 11 In this episode I prep Wave Rover and depart the Port of Lajas on the Island of Flores in the Azores as we set a course of 115 degrees bound for the Port of Horta on the Island of Faial. Wave Rover departed just 6 days before Hurricane Lorenzo destroyed the Port of Lajas and was the last sailboat to depart the Harbour.

I missed what you did with the leek you mentioned before Flores. Thanks for good videos.

Being in Portugal I've hear the news on TV the Port of Lajes was destroyed by the Hurricane! You just left in time since Flores was the most affected Island from that Hurricane! That was a good Luck! Always , Always Check the Hurricane Warning and run from them with you got! Stay safe and thanks for sharing your videos!

This episode was way better than your last two. The previous ones were blighted by "music" that was so irritating I had to watch the videos with the sound muted. It reminded me of the annoying repetitive loops of sound you get when you are put on hold on the telephone. Apart from that I am enjoying watching your progress.

I'm trying my best and I think that I have come a long way in producing the videos. I try to make each one better than the last. Bear in mind I started with no camera or video experience...just self taught.

@@RoversAdventure OK, great. I have not seen your recent videos, as I wanted to start from the begining.

Great video, Wow about your escaping the harbour before hurricane Lorenzo! Do you have any video on how your auto-rudder works? Cheers! 👍👍

Although I don't know which videos, several times I show how I adjust course or tack by adjusting the Mk3. More info is in the works.

    Hi Alan,
I really enjoyed this commentary. Despite Hurricane Lorenzo's destruction, I sensed a calmness with you back on the seas with Wave Rover. Pleased to hear you
left with the German and Ukrainian's and will continue to keep in touch with them. Great job on the clean up of the rudder and hull. Anticipating your next episode.
    Cheers,
    Darryl

What do you use to clean off the growth? A scraper or rough sponge. Been watching your more recent uploads, and now delving into the earlier ones. Great job!

Nice video again. Cleaning the bottom is it for boat speed or it is also a safety thing?

How often do you typically have to clean the bottom of the boat like that? Also saw on another channel some places require that type of cleaning be performed prior to entering their waters.

At least once a year. It's not a big job on a boat this size.

How does the boat’s auto pilot system work to keep you on course and overcome drift and current etc??👍
