Being perfectly honest, I discovered King Crimson bc of JoJo and listened to this version of Epitaph first. Let's say it was one of my greatest musical discoveries. Been listening to entire albums after that, but I keep coming back to that song. I think it's their best
Doesn't hold a candle to the original Greg Lake version.
I discovered KC straight from KC, after searching for it.
what is jojo
@@miojo04 a manga/anime series created by Hirohiko Araki, who loves to give his characters and their abilities musical references as names. King Crimson's name was given to the time-manipulating ability of the main antagonist of the 5th part
@@C7007 nice way to explain jjba! thank araki :)
{Lyrics}
The wall on which the prophets wrote
Is cracking at the seams
Upon the instruments of death
The sunlight brightly gleams
When every man is torn apart
With nightmares and with dreams
Will no one lay the laurel wreath
When silence drowns the screams
Confusion will be my epitaph
As I crawl a cracked and broken path
If we make it, we can all sit back and laugh
But I fear, tomorrow, I'll be crying
Yes, I fear, tomorrow, I'll be crying
Yes, I fear, tomorrow, I'll be crying
Between the iron gates of fate
The seeds of time were sown
And watered by the deeds of those
Who know and who are known
Knowledge is a deadly friend
If no one sets the rules
The fate of all mankind, I see
Is in the hands of fools
The wall on which the prophets wrote
Is cracking at the seams
Upon the instruments of death
The sunlight brightly gleams
When every man is torn apart
With nightmares and with dreams
Will no one lay the laurel wreath
When silence drowns the screams
Confusion will be my epitaph
As I crawl, a cracked and broken path
If we make it, we can all sit back and laugh
But I fear, tomorrow, I'll be crying
Yes, I fear, tomorrow, I'll be crying
Yes, I fear, tomorrow, I'll be crying
Crying, crying
Yes, I fear, tomorrow, I'll be crying
Yes, I fear, tomorrow, I'll be crying
Yes, I fear, tomorrow, I'll be crying
Crying
It's basically impossible to top the masterpiece that is the original Epitaph, but this a surprisingly solid version of the song.
Same with Starless, now that I think about it.
It just works
This arpeggio, this melody... A perfect song in all its versions.
It doesn't have the same suspense as the original when the instruments start building after "The hands of fools" but the singer really gives his all in epitaph
This is such a timeless masterpiece. The amount of emotion wrapped up in these notes is palpable and the message of the song is now as important as ever.
Jakko was beyond a doubt Crimson's best singer. As much as I liked the others, Jakko is in a class of his own.
King Crimson is King
Absolutely!
✌❤👑🎸🎹🥁🎶🙏
Best version of this song. Thank you for sharing this masterpiece!
One of the best songs ever
Having followed KC since the first album, I’ve never know the band to repeat anything. Re-perform, certainly for live events but this revisiting of a classic Greg Lake vocal is both an homage to Greg (RIP) as it is JoJo bringing a new interpretation while sounding remarkable similar to the late Greg Lake.
JoJo?
The original version's vocals sound like the singer is warning us of the future and a prophecy is being told.
The live version's vocals sound like the singer has read the prophecy and now that the words are coming true, he has resigned to his fate and is now telling a story to the coming generations. Of how the prophecy was ignored. Of how they came to an end.
Yup - And here we are, Today
RIP Bill Rieflin Fairy Dust will never be the same....
The message is pretty relevant now more than ever. Seriously, no joke.
"The fate of all mankind, I fear, is in the hands of fools..."
Sometimes I fear if the next day will be the last. Sometimes I fear that tomorrow I'll be crying. How things are going in the world, I fear war will break. Now that we have nuclear arms, I fear that we will die _before_ realizing what is *really* happening.
How many people do *really* pay attention. I fear that many do not, and one day it will be too late.
I fear that confusion will be our epitaph.
Pull your shi-t together, herpes!
For years I kept checking You Tube for King Crimson. Thanks again to Robert Fripp , for easing up on the proprietary copyrights
The lyrics of this song intensify with each passing year!
The wall on which the prophets wrote
Is cracking at the seams.
Upon the instruments if death
The sunlight brightly gleams.
When every man is torn apart
With nightmares and with dreams,
Will no one lay the laurel wreath
As silence drowns the screams.
Between the iron gates of fate,
The seeds of time were sown,
And watered by the deeds of those
Who know and who are known;
Knowledge is a deadly friend
When no one sets the rules.
The fate of all mankind I see
Is in the hands of fools.
Confusion will be my epitaph.
As I crawl a cracked and broken path
If we make it we can all sit back
And laugh.
But I fear tomorrow I'll be crying,
Yes I fear tomorrow I'll be crying
I Love this track. goosebumps, this Is Heaven for my ears.

Have you seen any mafia gangsters that dress very gay and seemingly some sort of psychic abilities named after songs and bands like Aerosmith(pronounced "Lil Bomber"), purple haze(pronounced "purple smoke"), Sticky Fingers(pronounced "Zipper Man"), Gold Experience(pronounced "Golden Wind") and many others?
Also said Psychic abilities are mostly just Punch Ghosts but normal people cannot see them

then gtfo from here and listen to your version lol
Obviously nothing beats the studio versions but this is pretty fucking good if you ask me
Agreed, but this is really a good version to.
Ruth Eckerd hall !!!!!!!!!
I wonder how it feels for a notable subsection of your decades-old band's fanbase to be weirdos who read or watch a mostly unrelated series about buff people fighting.
I bet it feels pretty bizarre.
Jojo fans have good taste
it takes a lot of patience, but jojo is also an audience :D
Well, I mean it is a bizarre adventure, after all. Sorry, that pun was awful.
I watch JoJo but I love this band
For the record this is not a jojo reference. JJBA referenced it
Sadly, a dim shadow of the Greg Lake vocals.
I like this one better, actually.

KING CRIMSON HAHA FUNNY DONUT DOPPIO
If Greg Lake isn't singing, it's not really "Epitath". Sorry, but this is a poor, at times painful, substitute.
Bitch please. Nobody will ever perform Tarkus the way my boi Greg did, but here Jakko just demolishes Lake's version if you ask me. The way he sings fits perfectly with rest of the song, while Greg seems to be singing separately outside of the bounds of other instruments. Jakko's version is far too refined to be denied.
@@hellriser8955 Yeah, you tell em!
Oh my, Piano Bar Crimson.. my God.. this incarnation lacks in Energy, Spirit and vocals.. everybody listen to the ride 69 live version, how strong It was compared to this abomination..
