I think it was potrayed in a misleading manner. Subaru didn't take majority of the curse. According to the novels description, he only removed two small patches of the curse. The novels also mention that howmuch ever Subaru takes from Crusch, Subaru receives 10 times the amount. This makes Subaru removing the whole curse from Crusch infeasible.

Oh, I see. Yeah, if that's the amount it multiplies in Subaru then it makes sense why Crusch stopped him from taking any more of curse into him.
