Most inspired pianist of the new generation with so many devoted fans around the world... Her Artistry is such that cannot be judged in any piano competition in the world..

People who don’t play can’t even imagine how hard and how long it takes to achieve her level of mastery. Thank you Kate, it’s exciting to see what people can get with hard work.

Le jeu de Kate Liu était passionnant à chaque étape ! On avait l’impression d’être en concert et non pas dans une épreuve de concours. Dommage que le jury ne nous ait pas donné l’occasion de la voir dans l’épreuve du concerto romantique

With those slender arms, it is stunning what a huge sound Kate gets in the Liszt and Brahms here. Her arms must be made of steel!

I'm also wondering if it would be possible to release all the possible programmes of each contestant other than the ones that they played?? It's fascinating to see what the opportunity cost (for lack of a better term) would be for otherwise still magnificent performances... I mean, her funeral march alone in Liszt says it all 😍😍

She’s a great pianist for sure. It strikes me as sad that she won the 3rd prize in Warsaw, and still is competing almost 10 years later, presumably to try to get concerts. One would think that a top prize in Chopin would be enough! This speaks to the growing uselessness and irrelevance of competitions in this day and age.

My opinion. She plays with great technical proficiency, but it feels too tame and her playing lacks the wow factor. I’ve been to her concerts. It’s fine to be a prize winner and all but you need the wow factor for people to attend your concerts further down the road.

@@JoeCJKI never heard a more beautiful Ballade 4 from Chopin than played by Kate. She is not playing in an orthodox way. When tears come, it is a "wow". But sure, it also is a matter of personal taste and of understanding her feelings and experiemcing a similar inner space.

I guess she is quite introverted, otherwise to be a youtuber bring her success more easily. She is definitely a great pianist!

@@JoeCJK I couldn't disagree more with your opinion.. her playing has a million "wow" factors. I'd travel across the ocean to hear one of dear Kate's concerts. Not something I'd typically do.

Competitions never meant much, but now they feel more pointless than ever.
