Genuine question, but what were your extracurriculars like? I just did my AS levels ( Y12) and am pretty sure I'll get at least 2 A* 2A in Y13, and I'm thinking of applying for medicine in Uni of Birmingham and such. The problem is that i haven't done many ECAs, and as someone who got accepted into so many good Unis (congrats btw!) I'd like to know what ECAs you had on your Application.
Hi! I'm pinning your comment, since this question came up a lot, and I would like to be as honest as I can and help as much as I can, so here's a brief list:) - President of Debate Society, and participation in major competitions like Oxford schools, Cambridge, LSE, etc -Studying six languages, with above intermediate/advanced proficiency in four of the six -Six MUN conferences achieving Best Delegate in three -Various school societies: History society, yearbook, newspaper, Law society (presidency) -Volleyball 2 years, tennis 12 years, aikido blue belt -Piano ABRSM Grade 5 -Various law firm intern experiences -This blog and my IG (same username if you would like to check it out:) -Head Girl -Lots of different essay competitions -Charity work, Wings of Hope, kissing it better, etc -Tutoring experience
just got into medicine this year! some tips from me too, just medicine specific: work exp - try to do one in a primary and in secondary/tertiary care setting volunteering - preferably long term, a couple months min. both of the above is valuable not just for your personal statement, but interviews!! very important (and also gives you the insight as to whether med is for you ofc :)) ucat - don't underestimate it! start prep ASAP (assuming you haven't already) and genuinely getting a good score here will open your doors to the best unis, including oxbridge from 2025 entry onwards since the BMAT was scrapped. apply strategically - what are you strengths - ucat score, gcess, work exp? diff unis weigh things up differently so make you do your research to maximise your chances! interviews - practice, practice, practice. even with the ucat score you can still get around it by applying strategically but this, you simply have to show them what you're made of!! a levels - the final step! you're almost there, getting a minimum of AAA will keep your options open even after a gap year (but looks like you have this sorted from your predicted grades!) finally, mindset - cannot emphasise how important this is. the whole process is quite overwhelming but, the way to go about it is just one step at a time. and trust me, it feels amazing on results day with the offer confirmed on ucas !! - completely worth it good luck :))

hi! thanks:) Yes you do need to know all the content and the detail if you want a good grade. All the case names, all the medication, all the little things. I made flashcards and recited everything verbally and would restart the entire recitation process everytime i did something wrong, for psych. For math I just constantly did questions and past papers. Helloo ik it’s been a while since u did it but can you give some essential tips on how to achieve a very high mark in cie gcse sociology 0495. Thank you and congratss🙏
Thank you! Yes sure: - Write out key names with the year and one word that summarises the study. Eg if a study is about observer effect 'spy' -Write out all the studies for each topic on the same flashcard, and learn the names. So list all studies for Social Influence for example -Review at least every week just the flashcards. By like the fifth week it should take you like ten minutes, because you need to learn every study -Say the studies out loud, don't just write them down, explain them, and then check if it's right. -Do random checks, leaf through the textbooks, point at a study, see if you can remember -There are limited past papers, so try to spread them out so you can do like one a month -Save some for pre exam, so the week before you can do at least two Hope this helps! PS: I offer sociology tutoring too, if you need more help:)
I'm so proud of you too!! That meets the criteria for most G5 universities! Amazing result:) where are you planning to enroll if you don't mind sharing? x
