The both pride and responsibility of having your parent chaperone a field trip is *literally* unmatched, my dad once got my friend an orange juice at the Lincoln museum so that she wouldn't faint and I have NEVER centered myself on a narrative more quickly

i also went to commerce plaza! my teacher pulled me aside one day in class and told me i was going to be mayor 😭 as a very shy child this was the last job i wanted!!! i had to make multiple speeches in front of my whole class, with the parents and teachers watching. truly a nightmare

re: trader joe’s the way i have to mentally prepare to go into any given trader joe’s no matter the location is actually insane there is always someone underfoot and needing to get EXACTLY where you are when you’re literally like taking a half a second to think about what else you need or just like trying to cross something off of your grocery list it’s absolute chaos

My mom would be ready to chaperone every field trip we had as kids too. I loved having her come along because she would be on the same vibe as us kids. Amazed at absolutely everything. When my little sisters asked me to be the chaperone on one of their trips, I have never felt more honored in my life 🥲 this episode was so nostalgic 💙

One of my fav school trips was to see Cinderella the opera. Before we left, one of the girls in my class went to the bathroom and practiced singing opera and she didn’t realized we could all hear her screaming from outside the bathroom 😅 it was hilarious

I have to confess to being an EIP hater BUT it's complicated. It came out during this weird trend of Netflix setting up Chicago as this place people can't run from fast enough (also see should-be-oscar-contender Princess Switch) and living in Chicago at the time the disrespect was too much (the map they put in that Emma Roberts christmas movie is so baffling bc like accurate maps are not hard to come by)
