    Great videos, I truly appreciate your coverage of the material. I was able to obtain my SEC + 601 certification yesterday and you were one of the resources that helped prepped me for the exam. I can't thank you enough.

    @16:25 While question 67 is slightly vague, I agreed with the answer being Phishing because it doesn't really "Entice an individual to take action" in the moment. Scarcity refers to hurry up and buy only 3 products left before sold out! Urgency is very similar as if BUY now before time runs out or the price goes up. Social Proof can be like being an attacker that is carrying supplies trying to enter the back door and someone right away opens the door for you to come in not knowing who you are but assume you are part of the company. Phishing doesn't really entice someone to do something in the same way. That was how I saw it but of course I agree that CompTIA may not use a question with that same phrasing in it.

      ye, the thing is phishing is a "tactic" but not in the same sense they are asking. Everything else is a tactic of social engineering. where as phishing is a method of social engineering.

      @@relav6824 indeed, unfortunately this is the fault of the bad question. I just started thinking which answers have something in common vs the 1 that doesn't as much.

    There's so many things wrong with the Security+ exam and any associated learning materials. The first problem is that the terms, definitions, and frameworks aren't being created by linguists, they're being created by computer nerds. Same with the tests and learning materials.
    Eg., question 65 fails to take into account that adware is more than just pop-ups. The most effective way to protect against adware is anti-malware (if you class adware as malware, which is more common than restricting the definition of adware to just pop-ups).

      I am currently enrolled in a university online and a lot of it is passing CompTIA exams. I already passed A+ both parts and studying for Security+ at the moment. One thing that stresses me the most about these exams are how it is only about recalling vocabulary rather than actually understanding the actual concept and process of even half of these topics. I may know a WEP uses an RC4 encryption but how does that even look like in action? I have a tendency to want to go more in-depth with a lot of the material to actually tell myself that I know the material but education stopped being about education a long time ago apparently.

      @@helpingmeoutnow yea I feel like actually installing or creating a hash would teach a lot more than simply becoming familiar with the terms. I guess thats what experience and upper level certs are for though. And dont forget to put projects on your resume.

      Came here to say this. A pop up blocker may block the ads that the adware creates but it will not actually remove the application causing the pop ups in the first place. Seems like a less effective way to stop adware than just removing it.

    67. I think they're making a distinction between tactic and technique. But it's good to know the CompTIA questions are more explicit, I'm really stressing out over it. #hashtagStressEmojii

    Not sure what practice test you are using but #69's answer is wrong. Pharming redirects a user to a site pretending to be a legit site. That redirection can come from a modified host file, but the premise is a fake site that looks like the real one. The question just says that there is a redirect with no mention as to what site it was redirected to. However the hallmarks of DNS Poisoning are an edited host file which takes precedence over normal DNS queries. Not your fault! Just info for the masses.

      I thought the difference between Pharming and DNS poisoning is that DNS poisoning happens on the server, whereas Pharming happens by altering the host. That's the reason I would have guessed Pharming, but you're absolutely right, there's no mention of a site pretending to be legit.

    @2:30, I have the exam cram guide and ECB is mentioned in one sentence without detail. I barely found info online that wasn’t fundamental and made for advanced levels. I really hate it when CompTIA makes exam questions like that.

    66. you can stop a zero day attack, or at least block it with behavior based IPS, but they are not full proof. it is something you can do though so thats wrong.

    • @overl0ad816
      @overl0ad816 Год назад

      i think that since it is called an "exploit," then it would have to have something TO exploit... if it is stopped by an IPS, it wouldn't be an exploit, would it?

    • @MrSwatsteven
      @MrSwatsteven Год назад

      @@overl0ad816 maybe but its not a full proof thing, it "might" stop it

    • @skymaster3707
      @skymaster3707 Год назад

      @MrSwatsteven Yeah but you're over complicating the answer in general. You're basically referring to an in field "Lets try This" perspective. In exam terms, IPS's are not able to prevent the "unknown" zero day intrusions. So in terms of this question, a Zero Day Exploit can't be prevented and you can do NOTHING. Answers in an Exam vs in Field are 2 very different things.
      You have to look at it from an exam perspective in the answer.

    Question #63 The question does not match the answer explanation. Question states “does not accuse users of illegal activities”. Then the answer says it does accuse users of illegal activities.
    Based the the mis-worded question we all naturally eliminated the possibility of a police virus & that turns out to be the answer. Wish some of these platforms would review their study material before publishing just to ensure accuracy for users. I’ve noticed a lot of typos & poorly written questions on some of these study sites & many of them are paid programs.
