I feel like all of the post-Eddie Murphy black comedians were given the "Eddie Murphy Formula" even if their style of comedy didn't match it. For instance, putting them in serious action movies with a comedic undertone just like Eddie in 48 hrs. Martin did "Bad Boys". Damon Wayans did "Last Boy Scout". Chris Tucker did "Rush Hour". It's the same treatment, and it gets in the way of them proving themselves because everyone expects a black comedian to be the "Next Eddie Murphy". They don't do that with any other comedian.
