according to me..get back and cross backleg shoud be side on BUT weight shouldn't be transferred until and unless..you are able to judge how much it is going to bounce..if its a ball to pull or hook..then..rotate your hip (snap) and back foot will be facing umpire generating force opening the body and pull it and if it is not there to be pulled or hooked then stay side on and transfer your weight completely on back foot and foot will be facing point and defend the ball or punch or backfoot flick..
length and line judgement and the bounce judgement is thee key..then technique will come into play..
